My advise, as a professional kitchen planer. Go with the whitet subway tile. back splash, charcoal grey grout. Also never use white grout on the floor. It will get dirty from things spilling and you can never get it clean.. I love the big hex floor tiles. I also love the butcher block counters. Your cabinets look well built. You can just purchase new doors and a safe a bundle. Just google new cabinet doors! .

NEVER use white grout-it's over-=even professionally sealed it turns grey because when the sealer thins the dirt and moisture gets under the seal and can even MOLD-Tile is cold and subject to cracking especially in older homes-consider a high end vinyl flooring-I have one called African Slate and people think it is actually a slate floor-it is installed with a coved edge so even if there is a bad water spill or leak the spill is contained-reading other comments you have some amazing people subscribing on your channel-seriously consider their advice and comments since you ask for them

Move the hutch into the dining room on the wall. Move the Fridge where the hutch is and put more cabinets around the fridge. Then make a cute breakfast nook where your fridge is now.

Put the hutch in the dinning room and use that wall where it use to be for more countertop area and a coffee bar with cabinets above. You will have the space for your dishes and also for your food and you can have a counter top on the other side of your stove for your utensil holder. Then if you need a island you can get a rollaway with the lock and unlock wheels maybe from Ikea! For the kitchen floors and back splash go with the last one, light floor pattern with the subway tiles and light grout. That will keep the kitchen light and airy with the white cabinets.

Yes, move the old hutch out. Install cabinets above and a long counter below for multi purpose. Plus she can add two barstools for friends to sit and talk while she cooks. She can also move that hutch out to her screened porch and use for beautiful potted plants and storage.

@@YoungLadyBusiness I love the hutch too, it's solid wood and very nice. If you're going to get a mobile island, I think you should put a full cabinet where the wall oven is. Your plan will cause you to loose some storage/cupboard space so the tall cupboard will make up for it. BUT, it depends on what you need more of...storage or counter space. That's why it's great that you're already living in the house so you will definitely figure out what you need more of. I lack storage and counter space so I'm making my own pantry to solve that. You kitchen cupboards are freakin solid wood, that's expensive compared to the crap they sell now. Choose wisely sis.

Awesome advice...it takes time to fully settle in. I know when I bought my home I was obsessed with replacing the sliding door that goes to the yard. Until I realized how much me and the dog use it and its actually quite functional for heavy use. The only reason I didnt replace it was due to the fact that other expenses came up, and it kept getting pushed back. Glad I didnt rush and change it to french doors...it wasnt a good choice.

Why not put the hutch in the dining room? You would then have more counter space. I think all cabinets where the oven is would be better. Keep the cabinets and paint them white, if you’re looking to get stainless steel appliances then get either nice stainless steel & glass knobs for the cabinets. I love all of your floor choices as well as the backsplash pieces. Food for thought, if you go with the subway tiles put a pop of color in your backsplash! That will break up all of the white especially if you paint your cabinets all white, and your flooring the nice gray that you love 🥰. You want your kitchen to all flow together with out looking just white.

I would vote for extending the counter top and having matching appliances. It will look mismatched. If you have the funds to make them match then do it! You will thank me later when you get in your 30s and be looking at mismatched appliances.....the patterned floors look cool, but not sure how long you plan on being in the home, but over time the patterns will start to look old fashioned. If you use basic not so busy colors, then in years to come it will make it easier to change up the look without having to renovate the entire kitchen. I am speaking from experience. I too bought my first home at 25 and here I am 41 and just had to do a full renovation because the 25 year old me wasn't thinking long term.

A rule I always follow when renovating a space is to explore pictures, and pick three design options that I REALLY like. Then I chose one of those designs and discard the others to avoid questioning my decision. Bring your design photo and material list with you to shop and stick to it as you would a planned grocery list. It will make the renovation journey less overwhelming and keep you from going over budget. Most importantly, have a set budget and stick to it, counting those coins always keeps you on budget and look for sales. You are doing great...keep up the good work.

What would your fridge look like on an angle facing into the kitchen? I think you have the space for it. It does look like it doesn't quite belongs facing your hutch so maybe having it kiddy cornered might help it look like it fits in better with the room. Then having a corner shelf (a triangle shape) would really help it pop! What in your kitchen do you want to be your focal point? A light kitchen tile or backslash with a contrasting grout will stand out. Then the wood counter top will also have a pattern too it so be careful that you don't have too much going on at once.

Option 1&4 look cute. Light gray grout. The color of the butcher block will bring warmth to the all white concept, great choice! Unless you’re going to knock down the wall to open up the space I’d say no to the island. Idk if you’ve cooked a full meal in your kitchen yet but to get an idea of flow and convenience go through the steps of preparation to get a feel of how you want to move in the kitchen. Where is it comfortable to grab food, where do you want to rinse and chop veggies, how far away from the stove do you want to prep from etc.

I'm all for options number 1 & 2. Mostly 2! I feel like the black and white pattern will flow better with the overall theme of your home and add a lil fun pop to your kitchen. But, I am also leaning towards option number 5 because your kitchen is so small and the mainly white will make the room brighter and make it feel larger.

Buy an appliance package of stainless steel. It’s cheaper as a package. I agree with moving the hutch and ensuring that you have a professional design that doesn’t have the refrigerator off to itself. Take your time and watch some HGTV to get ideas. You can also try the app Houzz. It has a huge selection of photos of remodels. That said,I like option 1 the best so far.

I just redid my kitchen and used the same octagon tile in black for the backsplash. I am happy with the way it turned out. Stay away from white grout, especially on the floor. I pulled out white flooring tile with white grout because it looked horrible! The white tile was also a gloss finish and a huge slip hazard. Be sure the flooring has some grip to it. I went with a kitchen cabinet company and they ended up being cheaper than HD and the quality was better. If you shop it carefully, you can do a very nice kitchen for a somewhat reasonable price. Check your junk mail for cabinet companies, as they can run some great deals. I would definitely figure out a way to put in a pantry. For resale that is going to be critical. I ended up with almost double the storage space and a ton of counter space for prepping, just with good design. You don't have to lock yourself into the current design if you are doing new cabinets. Definitely talk to a professional kitchen planner. They will give you some great ideas!

You’ll want to have contrast in your kitchen so for this reason I would recommend doing either a darker floor or adding a black splash with darker tones in it to balance all the white cabinets. As for appliances, white can often feel dated but if you don’t care for the stainless steel then try black. I would try to keep your appliances, other than your fridge, the same color

What do you think about option 2 with black grout for the floors and white grout for the backsplash with a herringbone design? I agree with everyones comments that white grout will be extremely hard to keep clean. The black grout will allow a great contrast and you will not have the stress of always having to get the grout cleaned.

I like option 1 ( very nice) or 2 ( very dramatic ). I think the hexagon floor will show dirt easily. Also, I think extend the counter next to the stove and use a floating shelf like the one over the fridge. You could probably use more counter top while cooking. I don’t see any room for an island of any size if you keep the hutch. I’m so excited to see the progress.

Extend the counter. The full ceiling to floor pantry will close off your space. Having counter space in both sides of the stove is the way to go-it will also give you a temp drop zone when coming in the back door-I know you want to keep the hutch in the kitchen but a wall pantry would be awesome in that space. Also white grout will be difficult keeping it clean-go with a gray. I think you may find it tight with an island-even if it’s movable. Again I think it will close off your space. You may have to go with all new cabinets because you the size & layout. Remodeled my kitchen a few years back. Good luck can’t wait to see your design.

I feel like you could use the storage to the left of the stove so if you make that one long piece you could have a pantry for the storage of food or other items as well. The few cabinets you have left will fill up fast. You can always re-face your cabinets and not pull out everything but just change the cabinet doors. You can always paint unfinished cabinets.Tile is always a personal preference. Have fun shopping. If you are keeping the hutch seems like it would be crowded with an island but I know you will figure it out.🙂
