@@carsonshea653 I mean, my pc specs are: Ryzen 7 3700x Rtx 2070 super Asus prime x570 mobo 16gb 3200mhz ram 750watt thermaltake smart power supply I have earned all of the money myself through my job as an apprentice engineer so shut the fuck up mate
Yes most tech channels have big gaming "rigs" and don't even know how to play fortnite u have the skill to make it but do u have the skill to play it tho 😂👁👄👁👌👂
I remember this was on my mind for a long time before this... I spent countless hours during class trying to find the perfect egpu under 400, thanks for this!
@@techyesterday4960 Love it when one of my favorite PC youtubers comments on my comment :)), and yeah! the rx 570 is really good for under 100, and with this, it's about the equivalent of combining the old beast 780 ti with an i7 2600! perfect pc build here imo. Portable and powerful!!
The performance/budget ratio is incredible. Thank you so much for this. I cannot affort a gaming laptop but this is perfect cuz I already had a GTX 1050 and a rock steady 750w power supply for the PC !
@Jonas Moberly yes, upgrade it to something better. this guy only recommends the cheapest psus that aren't good at all. there are many budget, good power supplies out there, don't get anything generic. something like evga, corsair.. those will be good
Instructions come with the dock. But everything has its own, different plug so everything should be pretty self explainatiory except the location of WiFi card for your laptop. It can literally be anywhere.
You've inspired me to make my pc making the switch from Xbox to pc but still using a controller because I'm a "controller player"!! I've watch all your vids and continue the great content
Great content. I like that you're a quality, not quantity kinda guy with your videos. Liked the details you went into on the one-handed gaming keyboard and also the GPU running on an old Dell. Gotta get my son to subscribe to your channel also. Exactly the kind of advice he needs. Keep it up!
I wish i could do that to my sisters laptop but it's a way weak cpu can barely open a browser but she only use it for movies though. This are sick how you do these little projects.Joystick keyboard is something i have to see. PS:You deserves a lot more subs for your DYS Videos.
although i dont have a old laptop, nor do i need to build it, but great video, and imagine the feeling to whom actually needs such thing that saw this video !.
You literally inspired me at the very moment, where I was going to buy a new laptop. Cuz my laptop is way worse but this video is gonna help me tonnsss bud. Thanks a lot 💯❤️
Jamie Wells yeah. I does, believe me. But you have to beware of the bottlenecking. If you laptops cpu is weak (which most are), if your running a game that’s more cpu based such like high amount of objects, entities etc, because the cable that runs from your gpu dock to your laptop has a certain “bandwidth cap” , if too much data needs to be sent through, it’ll just crash your computer.
Yes i will i promise! Working on the joystick keyboard right now which is even better than the mouse IMO. That will have alot of good info. The mouse video will follow!
Great video man. Highly informative! I have one question. I've been playing fortnite on my Dell XPS 9560 but getting gradually more frustrated with the fps (between 50-120 but usually around the low end -It's only a 60hz laptop anyway!) Just bought a 95hz external display so would love to get more out of my system. Would prefer to use a Thunderbolt 3 port as it's still a decent lap. Any ideas on a budget DIY thunderbolt 3 eGPU option?? (Subbed)
@@rajakhan12346 I already have a laptop. I'm not wanting to buy an entirely different laptop and I don't want to buy the Razer eGPU enclosure either. They cost £260. Then you have to buy a gpu to go inside it on top of that !
@@Charper0 Im sorry my friend but all the thunderbolt egpus are pretty pricey. Why not use the one in our video? We a consistent 100+ fps on fortnite. 200 fps in creative... If fortnite is your primary game the pci-e egpu is a beast!
@@techyesterday4960 hey man currently play on a gaming laptop and its a newer laptop but will these parts work on it and will they improve my in game fps plz respond I love your videos so keep up the grind!!
I didn't think I'd learn anything but I did. I knew about this option for years but I didn't know about the frame cap. Thanks. Makes me want to pick one up to test old cards
If your looking to buy an "older card" thbe RX 570 is by far the best budget older card on the market. I have tested 20+ cards and the RX 570 price to performace wins by a mile. A close 2nd would be a gtx 1060.
Is it still working fine? Did it get worse overtime? I'm just wondering because I don't want to spend rest of my money on something that'll work for a month or so
THANK YOU SO MUCH I JUST HAD A BAD LAPTOP COZ MY PARENTS ARE BROKE AND CANT AFFORD ME A PC BUT I GOT THE STUFF FOR MY UPGRADE FOR 67 DOLLARS BUT GOT BETTER PERFORMANCE THANK YOU SO MUCH BRO
I have that model of laptop and I want to buy an egpu for it but do I need another monitor like u are using or can I just play on my laptop Btw great video
Wtf 100 FPS in gta 5?!? Thats insane for that setup. I'll check what connection I'll need for my Lenovo Ideapad L340 and then buy the dock. I hope it runs good with a gtx 970. Thanks man! Keep it up:D
ik this won't be seen cuz I'm so late on the video but DUDE. I've been wanting to build a PC for so long but I don't wanna pressure my parents to buy some $600 PC. (I already have a PS4 Slim) Thank you for the content you make. You earned another sub :D
Oh i did use it, trust! Still not that great with it so i stuck with the controller. We got an analog stick keyboard coming in the next vid which is even better than the joystick mouse IMO.
Bro ur legend. I still dont get it why u dont have 5 million subs. Like u deserve that. U make peoples dream come true. U made my dream come true. When i had a shit laptop. Cuz of you.... i upgraded adding a rx 570 and buying that dock thing and power supply. I am watching all ur videos again and again everyday. U even got noticed by flea... More people are waiting for u to hit 1 million subscribers soon. Btw watching this video around the 11th time. Cuz ur a legend and ur videos r the best.
Thank you very much for this video, i have the same Laptop and i really want to make a upgrade on this but i don't know how yo Made it until today, thanks a lot
Tech Yesterday broooo I got a heart! But also the only downside to an egpu is that you are forced to a) lose your WiFi card b) lose some portability because you have to plug in a wire every time you come to your setup. As someone with a surface I would love to have an egpu for gaming at home and surface to work on, but it’s not really possible rn :(
even though this technique actually works, just be aware of your laptop's specs. if you have a weak/old cpu and a powerful EGPU and you actually do this, don't. i have a Intel Pentium N3540 quad core 2.16GHz, tried this technique but my GPU is a gtx 960 which is not that great in terms of the GPU specs. but looking back, my cpu is older than the said GPU and it didn't even achieved 30 fps in minecraft, csgo, even tf2 which is suitable for low end laptops. so it really depends on your laptop's cpu. i even tried it on a gtx 750 ti which is pretty decent. but still, didn't achieved a higher fps. so if you are planning to do this, put some time by researching your laptops hardware and actually benchmarking without any modifications to the hardware. trust me, you don't want to waste money to something you are hoping to work. but why you question. why old gpu's? cause i can't afford to buy a GPU. i just borrowed the 2 GPU's on a friend of mine. i just spend the money on the exp gdc beast and the cords. but still. waste of money.
I’ve got a question because I’m considering doing this. Do you have to take apart the laptop? I have a ASUS K55VD I want to do this to and I’m not sure if I want to pull it apart...
Often the mini pcie slot is just under a plastic cover on older laptops, although some may require more dissasembly (my Toshiba Satellite has it under the keyboard, but this is not the usual location)
Guys i live in ireland can you please send me a link where i can get a dell optiplex i7 2600 and a good graphics card please ive never built a pc and want to start
