Amazing effort on this video Arlo, the costumes and such remind me of AngryJoes classic style of reviews, where the extra effort made the reviews worth watching. More like this and I'll keep watching them , even if I don't have interest in the game being reviewed itself. Keep it up, I look forward to Sponic as a returning character in future reviews!

7:16 My personal go-to example for something like this is Super Meat Boy (same initials, funnily enough). Each time you die in a level in that game, you're almost immediately taken back to the start of that level, and each time you clear a level, an easily-skippable results screen appears, and you're immediately taken to the next level. More games need to do stuff like this IMO

Saw a GX review (NintenDaan), and apparently the difficulty curve is more gradual and not as difficult. But also has a bunch of key features like a dash, checkpoints, and you can choose levels (within a world I think) in any order. Haven’t played yet, but I felt similar because I never even beat SMB2. There was some level later on where you basically had to get hit by a spinning thing into a goal and it felt nigh impossible. I don’t think they’re that unfair, but I’m going off someone else’s word.

I definitely share your thoughts on a story campaign, Arlo. That's one of the elements I really enjoyed about Mario Maker 2 as well. Despite how simple it was, it still felt like it added a solid chunk of my time spent playing the game and motivated me to play and make more levels. Also, thank you for letting Ai-Ai get out of there unharmed. I wouldn't be able to sleep tonight if I didn't know he was okay.

We all use adblockers and skip the sponsoered parts on regular videos. But people (and little monster fellas) like Arlo make watching an ad enjoyable. Honestly, some ads from when I was younger were creative, snarky and funny, even the ones from RU-vid channels.

I really love sponsorship deals like this. You get some well-deserved money AND early access to a game you enjoyed, Sega gets an entire video devoted to their product on a popular channel AND they get some intelligent constructive feedback. It feels like everybody wins. I especially wanted to bring up the constructive feedback because I agree that they really should keep that charged dash in future Monkey Ball titles, and I like the idea that this video might be a factor in helping that happen. I should have clarified that my issue was with BM specifically and I’m sad that I still have to bust out my GameCube game to enjoy Market Target and Bowling. I had heard that the party games in this one were disappointing (see:NintendoLife) but I’ve been glad to hear differing opinions on that. Might grab this after all, the single player looks great.
