Hey guys, in regards to Savathun's "Hive" using the light, I would say that the Lucent Brood we're gonna face are not going to be hive at all. The Hive is defined by the Sword Logic and their connection to their worm. If (and that's a big if) we succeed in exorcising Savathun's worm, she won't really be hive anymore. It was mentioned that her Ascendant Plane looked somewhat liked fundament; I think she may be actually fulfilling her promise to raise her promise as written here: "I am Sathona, middle daughter of the dead king. I will take back my home and eat the mother jelly. I will raise my spawn on the corpse of the Helium King. On my right eye I promise this."

I think savathun will change her appearance. In the cinematic we got this week when we talked to her, she says 'so I took a form more pleasing to your eyes.' At this point a silhouette of savathun forms out if the moths and she is notably missing the tall crown and shoulder pieces. I think that the worms/a worm god will attack the traveller (as evident in the cinematic where a worm god is wrapped around the traveller) and savathun will defeat them with our help to trick the traveller. The traveller will then bless her with light and that's how she gets the crown.

@vhad_ Savathun despises the worm gods since they’ve restricted her people to their ways. Maybe she views the traveler in a similar fashion? A much more powerful entity forcing its will on lesser beings like us. I’m no lore expert, that just what I thought of when I first saw it

As much as I would prefer Wrath of the Machine, I feel like Crota's End and King's Fall would be a much better choice both thematically and as a story tie-in for new players. Imagine them adding Book of Sorrows into the game as a Lore book, where clearing encounters would drop the pages.

@@Prestige_00 What I gather is, Bungie wants Legendary Lost Sector levels of relative difficulty, but didn't want to heavily rely on Champions to avoid forcing players to play the campaign a certain way. So the Lucent Brood are like a good compromise.

The HELM's name and location also lend to this. Plus, consider we now have an Elkisni house and an arms disease with Caiatl. Realistically, leaving Earth won't be out of the question. Dead Orbit & New Monarchy already fled and the remainder of Humanity is gathered in one location. The idea of leaving Sol is more likely than ever. After all, the fact that we see Savathun of all people manage to gain light and our ability to touch in darkness lends more to this. Learning more about the darkness and light will be keyed in going star borne.

@@liampitcher5586 This is what I've been expecting ever since they announced all the expansions a year or so ago. Either Lightfall or Final Shape will end with our solar system becoming more or less uninhabitable for most of humanity. That would force us to basically become space nomads, and would give us all kinds of excuses to go to places like Torobatl or maybe even whatever is left of Fundament or the Vex star.

This is a pipe dream tbh, do you think that bungie has the resources to build an entirely new social space, multiple new destinations, new strikes etc? What you're talking about is a new game and you're setting.yourself up for disappointment with thoughts like this. Destiny 2 will do what it has to do to keep making bungie huge money, but if they won't even update how strikes work or make new PvP maps what makes you think they'll build what's essentially an entirely new game a year before it's lifecycle ends?

Hey crazy thought, but in regards to the "Savathun meeting criteria thing." Savathun went on to describe how she protected the traveler in the last year or so, and with her wanting us to dispell her worm from her, it would leave her a vessel without power filling her. So with her and thus technically her brood, plus her wormless body, I think that could be what makes her tick off all the checks for granted light powers.

If Oryx was resurrected and persuaded by Savathun to join her, Oryx would essentially wield the power to Take as well as the light, making him a greater threat than before. Also, like Thanos, Oryx impact on the Sol System is still felt by many. By brining the Taken to our system, his legacy, a reminder of him, still lingers.

After the death of their father sathona and xi ro both swear vengeance on taox, aurash swears she will understand why the universe did this. Also numerous examples of oryx seeking knowledge and understanding. Since no one 'understands' savathun quite like her brother, we bring back oryx to defeat savathun.

Perhaps, every great Destiny dlc/expansion seems to involve one of the Hive God trio. I like this morally grey tone that the narrative has been shifting towards. Granted, some characters were ahead of us in this mindset, this truth/perspective of the difference between light and dark not mattering (Eris, Drifter, Elizabeth, Mara Sov.) Elizabeth, Drifter and Eris just revealed the truth that we need to wield both in balance to survive the second collapse. I’m looking forward to seeing Mara, Crow and the “Dark Vanguard” interacting with each other.

So hypothesis, Savathun learned Necromancy from Nokris, and used the necromancy on the dead ghosts she was collecting as "Osiris," and she's able to make Hive Guardians by essentially creating "Scorn Ghosts"

What if we actually met a Hive Guardian that actually wanted to be our ally? Being resurrected by the light would make them question the sword logic, if they have their memories. Or, lack of memory would make them change sides to fight for humanity, seeing how morally wrong the Hive’s way of life is.

I still remember being a new player in D1Y1, not really knowing what I was doing but loving simple patrols because of the amazing gameplay. Took me what felt like months to save enough Legendary marks to purchase my first legendary scout rifle, Ares Nemesis X4. Wasn't that great but was amazing to finally have a fun with multiple perks

With all the fantasy sci-fi elements, the characters, locations, and events, you tend to forgot Destiny 2 takes place centuries after the apocalypse. If you think about it, Guardians are essentially avengers for all those who died from the first collapse. As well as defenders of those who oppose the Darkness.

If you recall, Asher was trying to harness the light without a ghost. We helped him with one of his experiments that failed. Then we get a Harpy that might be used by Asher. The pyramid ships showed up on IO first. They could have taken Asher's research and got it to work.

I think the best part about Savathun is that really she isn’t usually all that wrong, she may twist the truth to make herself look better but in her wider universal prescriptions she is usually pretty spot on and doing practically what we are also doing. Both the Guardians and Savathun are looking for ways to harness both the light and the dark with the only reasoning being self-empowerment and survival.

A lot of people associate light=good, darkness=bad. What this expansion does is really show that light=power, darkness=power. And power can be gained and used by anyone with the will and determination to do so. This really breaks down the barriers between the two and the associated “goodness” of the two. The good and bad comes from the will of the people who use it.

For the bridge encounter in Crota, they could only have both totems be active while all three people are on the starting side, and then have only one totem be active on either side for the rest. They would also have to have the active totem on each side alternate for some added spice.

While hive have always been able to use void, solar, and arc damage. I do like the context of hive using them with light as the source. Hive powers are pulled from the worm gods, who pull from the darkness. So historically why they can use the previous elements using dark energies is a bit disconnected. Bit their is a lot to be seen. I just want them to address it a bit more. Like I get those elements are just fundamental properties and not to literal. But still don't get why acolytes can summon fire or wizards shoot electricity, when the source is darkness in lineage. Sorry small things I guess.

Something I think a lot of folks miss out on is a big quote from Mithraks: "The light is in all things, we splicers just manipulate the residual light." Could be that Saavathun has found a non-Traveler source of light, or what we know about how we "receive" the light is wrong. Maybe ghosts just unlock light and it doesn't come from The Traveler at all.

Savathun and the exo stranger are the only characters to call our ghost “little light” if I’m not mistaken. That can’t be a coincidence. I think they are working together to shift the travelers favor from our guardians to the hive under savathun. The exo stranger tempted us to use the darkness which opened the door for savathun.

Aren't the ghost's born of the flowers in the black garden? and weren't there those glowing thrall with flowers growing out of them? Seems like Savathun was somehow able to replicate that process maybe to create the hive ghosts by using the thralls as the medium by which the flowers grew.

I think it’s more about the ghosts than the traveler. For example, the traveler made the ghosts, and when their ghosts died, the guardian loses the ability to wield the light right? Because even the Eliksni never wielded the light. So it would make sense that the traveler is the source of the light, and the ghosts are the conduits that can bestow it on whichever being it chooses. So I think the reason that the hive can use the light is because Savathun has rebuilt the ghosts from dead ghosts of lost guardians. Also remember when Sagira took over our ghost’s consciousness? Wouldn’t it be possible for Savathun to hijack other ghosts that can bestow the light as well? She’s had Sagira’s shell ever since she died. It’s not unreasonable to think that she’s built her own ghosts based on Sagira (the ghost of the most powerful warlock ever)

Also yeah on crossplay Im able to play with xbox friends again who I kinda left behind to play on PC and was the one reason i felt bad about goin to PC but now it doesnt matter I can play with anyone. One of the biggest changes for the better to happen in destiny if not the absolute biggest thing to happen to destiny

We just need Savathun talking to Taniks in a single lore entry and just let that hang in everyone's heads forever like all of Savathun's other moves and lies. It would be amazing.

I'm curious to see if Savathuun is tricking us & Xivu isn't really hunting her. Or, she is & although we'll initially fight the Lucent Hive, do we later learn there's a much bigger threat on the horizon & we must join forces with the Lucent Hive to fight it back.

hunter while using arc strider super also had a second melee in the air a helicopter move in the beta ....... always have been upset about it .....I still forget that its not there and try to do it and always makes me sad....... :(

So here's one thing I wanted to ask, the hive got darkness powers, not from the pyramid ships but from the worms, why are we getting our power from the traveler, is there some light entity about the traveler? Maybe more travelers? Are the pyramids a different kind of darkness or what I need answers

I think the theme throughout the year will likely change a bit so I think its very possible that halfway through the year Wrath of the Machine could fit the theme of that given season. And at the time of my comment since im watching this late is confirmed to be either Kings Fall or Wrath so I think its possible its not Kings Fall thought id say most likely it is. and i personally would prefer that

So having played the new 6 player activity in lost, there is a ending where crow talks to ikora about osiris having him get dead ghosts from spider's personal stash.

That is Savathun. Ever since he lost sagira Savathun has been possesing Osiris . She also has the light surpressor that the Cabal assasin tried to use on Zavala. As well as the Crown of Sorrows from Presage exotic mission.

@@MrSpawley I know. I've seen the first week cutscene, and know the lore about it, and all the hints he was sava. .-. I was explaining that in the astral activity there is a voice line talking about osiris asking crow to go through spider's stash of dead ghosts, hence as to why there are hive ghosts.

Re-thinking of Savathûn, her cunning, her deception and lies, her mastery of Hive sorcery, her odd fondness for some sort of bond and affection she never truly experienced, her willingness to "ally" with anyone - including us - in order to ensure her own survival in the long term... Is Savathûn to the Destiny universe what Loki is to the MCU ? 🤔

A misunderstood, tragic villain that becomes an anti hero through a selfless sacrifice realizing who they really are, and eventually being “revived” or saved from their fate to come back as an anti hero? Maybe. It’s harder to tell weather Savathun is truly on our side. You can’t really tell when/if she’s being sincere. Maybe she’ll become an anti hero in year 6? Time will tell (if we don’t kill her permanently).

Thinking wayyy into the future maybe in the Final Shape or even beyond, what if we start encountering races that were given Darkness but then abandoned them at the end of the Red War when it felt the Travelers Light. So it would basically be a version of the Eliksni but for the Pyramids instead of the Traveler, chasing them across the universe and it’s just taken them much longer to get here

That seems unlikely since the pyramids were just sitting on the edge of our system (and in our moon) ever since the collapse.
