I have a theory that the Loot Cave was created by an Ahamkara. I mean, it's a massive cave complex with seemingly endless amounts of loot, and it causes people to go insane over it. Even Wilhelm-7's Ghost thought the treasure was cursed. Doesn't this sound like the kind of thing an Ahamkara would create? A place based off the Guardians collective desire for exotic engrams and God-roll weapons, which drives them mad?

Titan was loot obsessed because he is wearing blue armor at end of the dungeon and he probably sees other guardians around the tower looking like God slayers.

There’s a reason greed is one of the seven deadly sins. Turned a guardian against his fireteam and his ghost. Bastard went batshit crazy

This story was absolutely fantastic. Voice acting was even better. Great comparison to how some of the D1 players were during the Loot Cave time 🤣

The scariest part about the descent of Wilhelm *is how eerily similar he sounds like Clovis Bray.* His descent into being a loot goblin Exo who literally has a peg leg like sum Pirate is the best storytelling Bungie has done for a SINGLE DUNGEON. Can't wait for the story for Witch Queen. 😆😝

I was really hoping Xur was the one who traded his humanity for treasures but this too is a very good story! Bungie did a good job with this

What is it with guardians ending up telling their tale via really good missions, first katabasis and the glykon and now poor wilheim

I feel like the cave is definitely more than just loot. There are so many engrams that they fill walls, floors, and far more, and there are now cannon references to both Exotics and God Rolls. I feel like it has some greater connection than what’s actually stated, especially because of the Crystals that make up 90% of the cave structure we see grow because of the cursed ‘exotic’ engrams we pick up. Plus we get the de-buff ‘Burdened by Riches’ which literally kills us if we don’t get rid of it via giving it to the crystals that grow because of our greed, or if we replenish the timer by picking up more. It also seems like Willhelm was less insane, and more like he was trapped here. He’s absolutely Bat-Shir crazy, and yet for some reason he leaves traps extremely close to the entrance to the cave, and yet continues onwards even though he remarks on how it’s turning people. And we know they’re his traps because it states that we kill him. I also think it’s cursed because we find his body literally having the crystals growing out of it.

This was creepy and I kind of liked it. Taking an exploit from the first game and turning it into a dungeon in the next game filled with traps that get more dangerous as you go on and a story of someone going mad with greed and mixing how characters in the game speak with how players speaks is a great story telling devise. It’s like Bungie is teaching us a lesson on greed (and if I can show my Warhammer fan knowledge and nerdy stuff) it’s like the first level to get to the chaos god Slannesh and its home. That is some scary stuff.

While it doesn't really add any lore, there's also an additional voice line after you get Gjallarhorn's catalyst of Wilhelm saying "What do you have there? Give it to me!" Or something similar

Guardian, whenever they see loot “What should I pick, Ghost?” Ghost groans, again “Pick the one that’s, the best of the best.” *Guardian picks the one and only… rocket launcher*

Man went insane and massacred his fireteam over some blues

I love how his voice sounded so courageous and curious and then later on down the line he went down right insane and you can hear his voice is getting more and more like a goblin

This dungeon was literally goonies . There was treasure traps and he was sitting on a chair in the treasure room just like the end of Goonies. He is one leg Wilhelm instead of one eyed Willie

Me Andy friends did the dungeon last night. When we found all of the audio logs, we were kinda horrified. It was well done

Man Bungie has really out done themselves with this update. The story and the man's slow fall into sheer madness with the audio logs just phenomenal. There is a rumor going around Evade and I'd like your opinion on this. Do you believe that Xur is the man from the audio recordings?

Honestly I cashed my lore-theory on this entire loot-cave dungeon thingy being made into reality because of the sheer paracasual energy Guardians created by wishing for loot that it ended up forcing it into creation. But this story will do, besides I still call my theory plausible knowing Guardians.

Destiny wouldnt be half as interesting to players like me if it wasnt for creators like yourself 👍

I remember when i got the first 2 messages, i laughed a bit to the fact that they mention the existence of exotics. After that I just got shocked by the other messages

Rocks verse from Face off is the only thing playing in my head when I heard all these messages Whether it be because it fits so well or my brain is fried, its there.

I think if anything you can interpret it as a players greedy for scarification of great amounts of loot how the players mind can become so invested to get the best items in the game always wanting something before others get their hands on it the reflection of the voice audio logs really does reflect exactly how originally before the current age of Destiny players were always so obsessed for a chance at glorious bounty of loot mostly exotics and also rarity legendaries it was a wonderful show of the greed some players most indefinitely have it can as well as be a representation of the general idealism behind the danger of greed and how it can corrupt someone’s mind if greed ends up overwhelming someone’s common senses if when it happens to overpower their functions I think this was such a great funny audio log venture seeing how far one team member was willing to go to keep all the exotics treasures to himself but having drove himself to madness as a conclusion to the venture that he continued after his team members had died he kept going continuing deeper into pits of greedy and wanting which again is very dangerous in circumstance

Here’s my theory when Wilhelm 7 was locked in that pod at the end there are more pods on the walls so more guardians could of suffered the fate of the curse.

My favorite lines are “pershing shot agadir over a mid tier pulse riffle he already had!” And when he says “I know what he’s up to he’ll come back later and clean the place out” Just shows how insane they all went down there 😂

(Not sure if i commented on this channel before, but regardless:) Remember when I said that Guardians were the embodiment of greed? Why else did we attend Calus' ship so much and so often? Attended challenges that delivered certain loot and why we made and shared notes on where all the greater loot and g-rolls are? And why we're the Cryptarchs' most popular customers? Hell, this just makes Zavala's meme to Caitil take a sinister tone.

Destiny doesn't touch very often on the relationship that guardians have with their ghosts. Imagine killing your life partner, the one that chose you based on your soul. For whatever reason, that really got to me during this dungeon.

This dungeon was 1000% for season of the plunder. Fits perfectly now. Sounds so similar...

D1 Yeah, It was pretty much like that..."Just a couple more runs,for sure something will drop..." Almost pure RNG was such a normal thing, sometimes I miss It. Now RNG is a hell of a grind pretty much.

HEY EVADE i need you to look into somthing no ones really talking about, the new arc and voide energy sword has a written discription and on the void one it says “if only yhere was a way to combine them” so maybe there is a secret exotic sword with the full energy sword?

I actually got more interested what kind of god roll he got with the shotty he mentioned.

This takes The Deadly Sin of Greed to a whole new level.

I feel bad for all the ghosts in this fireteam. They just wanted to leave but they all died. Even Bismark had a bad fate, got betrayed by his own guardian and got killed.

Oh the loot cavers. Bubble titan was such a troll. Wait for the rocket launcher ... aaaaand ... BOOM! I was fascinated just watching how long folks would shoot into that cave. This dungeon should be fun to run.

People mentioning Xûr made me realize that he's honestly kind of an inverse Whilhelm? Xûr keeps giving us stuff, he even states that his will is not his own, it's like nothing belongs to him and he just gives away everything that comes his way. The only thing he asks for though are Strange Coins and Legendary Shards... 🤔

I may be lacking in lore knowledge. But would an Exo feel a shot in the leg? They don't have actual flesh do they? Or perhaps have a synthetic nerve system through the frame to simulate pain? Same with the blood. Or am I just looking too deep into it and missing the joke about a robot feeling pain. Lol

These audio logs just confirmed that when you lose a ghost you lose the light, but with the darkness you lose the splinter and keep the dark…maybe…like the pyramids and how we accepted the darkness WITHIN us…maybe we haven’t been truly one with the light at all…or maybe…not until we came to the shard of the traveler.
