Its funny because over the years there have been so many console gamers who claim they can't tell the difference between 30 and 60 fps.

@@UberVike me. And I am not only console player Do I like 60 fps? Yes I do, the game feels better. Yet if the game has quality and performance mode. I go for quality every single time. And when I play in pc. If there is a ridiculously demanding game that drops even to 25 fps if I have it all on ultra , then I play at 25 fps. I’m obsessed with visual quality. But I won’t even touch videogames multiplayer I hate it. So I don’t need the performance. In fact I’ve seen all this videos saying that games like Valhalla, or cyberpunk Are not worth playing on quality because of how much better they feel at 60fps and how little the difference is. Well I tryied performance and I felt like: I didn’t bought a next gen console to play 1080p like I allready did back in 2013. I didn’t bought an expensive 4k LG oled tv to play at 1080p . But that’s me. I always had the oportunity to play 60fps on my pc. So it is nothing new for me. Maybe someone who tries it for the first time is impressedz

True but pc players can drop settings to gain FPS not really a choice on console and more fps after a point doesn't actually help that significantly sort of ever reducing gains Vs 30 FPS to 60 that's a much bigger difference

@@michaelarmer256 The jump from 60 FPS to 120/144 FPS on a 120/144 Hz monitor doesn't feel very significant until you go back to 60 FPS at 60 Hz after a couple weeks. It can be pretty jarring and games end up looking choppy even though 60 FPS is usually a smooth experience. It most likely has to do with our minds having to take the time to adapt versus seeing results switching between 120/144 FPS and 60 FPS within a few moments of each other.

Yeah but if you have better pvp skill then it doesn’t matter. Hardware can only take you so far when it comes to pvp. I’m on PS5 and I’m decent at crucible but I still find myself getting destroyed by players on PS4

Until it stops happening. It is weird because the Xbox has a more powerful CPU and GPU. If they were comparing two AMD graphics cards on PC, one which is 15-20% less powerful and it was outperforming the other one, it would also be called out as weird. There isnt any strange narrative to this stuff, there are not magical components in these machines that are impossible to understand, which is why pretty much everyone, not just DF had the same expectations before launch, to see these minor differences the other way around. At this point its probably just API stuff that needs to be worked out, but technically speaking, it will continue to be a weird thing to happen because for all intents and purposes, it shouldnt be happening. Its no different than seeing a game load faster on a SX, it really shouldnt be happening

The XSX hardware choices were made for more raytracing grunt. And pretty much every game using RT has performed better on XSX. But I would say there is some API issues when it comes to odd 1 frame dips. This seems to be a issue among many titles. Probably won't be fixed till a future update to the xbox's DirectX APIs. On the PC side it's not uncommon to see other APIs to do better on the same workload. And that's largely what we've seen with the XSX and PS5. Both are pulling about the same amount of power from the wall, using the same architecture. So performance is going to be close regardless.

@@halo37253 It does give me hope as where it's a matter of software, there's always room for patches to be deployed - i.e we might see XSX performance on games improve over time. It's obviously a bigger worry when the hardware itself is the problem, which I don't suspect is the case with XSX

Ps5 is simply a beastt

I mean, does it matter what the reason is? Both consoles are performing great and just because the Series X is a bit slower than PS5 isn't something to worry about. Unless you bought it for bragging rights with the promise of being the fastest console in the world. Being second fastest by a small margin is still great. Doesn't matter if the reason is frequencies, terraflops or apis.

PS5 was custom designed to be a fast console allowing the cpu and gpu access to data as efficiently as possible. This has just as much to do with how quickly a frame is displayed on a screen as it does load times. We are seeing efficiency beat out raw power when it comes to performance.

I really advise playing with a group of friends, particularly ones you dont get to see very often in person. Destiny was a big game between my friends in the marines and now we all hopped back into Destiny 2 after years of being out of the corps. Its more for the social aspect for me. I get bored fairly quickly when i have to play by myself

Dl the bungie app to look for other player! the destiny community is top notch. I also didn't like d1 and stop after a while prolly when xur had the gally for trade that one time...but I gave it another try and found a group to play with and now I have logged 1000s of hours between both games.

@@Mickey2099 I did try it out since it's a free download but my processor is older than last gen console's CPUs, it came out in 2011. It's the clear bottleneck because I couldn't even get 30fps lowering all settings and resolution to 480p. One day I'll upgrade but so far the PS5 has exceeded my expectations and I'm stoked to see what else it can do after the dust has settled and devs are taking full advantage of the hardware.

I ran it fine on a i5 3550 + GTX 1080ti at 4k, although GTX 1060 at 1080p manages 60fps too.

@@fplgregfrost AMD FX-6100 and a GTX 960. I know the 960 is capable of running the game, just not the CPU.

@@arbiter- I managed to get a GTX 1060 for £100 & i5 4590 tower with 256gb SSD for £65, upgraded the RAM to 16gb for £12. £177 for a very capable PC! This was pre lockdown off ebay, I think prices have increased since.

Yeah and the bad thing about ps5 is that since it doesn't support 1440p output it just lowers everything down to 1080p so in reality you're not getting anything in between its either 4k or 1080p. That's something I can see be fixed in like a year but for rn I'm not expecting much from the series x since its complete hardware isn't being used and ps5 has so software issues.

Ps5 is mostly consistent on 120fps but that's probably when the charecter respawn it gets frame drops just like cold war on 120fps on both systems, so it's probably same on series x but they didn't show it, and anyway at that point you have no control on the charecter or it's not in combat, so it doesn't matter

The ironic thing is that they complain about it while the PS5 performance is on screen, but they say they both do it; instead of being specific. I just don't see objective treatment and since that comment about xbox having more NPCs in CyberPunk was probably due to a deal, they've lost some credibility to me.

Developers have said quite a few times that Sony's Graphics API for PS5 is easier to use and easier to get good performance out of it. At least compared to DX12 variant used for the Xbox Series X. Microsoft needs to improve their API. Seen similar things like this in PC games that feature Vulkan and DX12, usually Vulkan performs better than DX12.

So, you identify the issue at the architectural level than proceed to blame Xbox Hardware...? How does that work? Those are two fundamentally different things. If it’s an architecture issue, nothing short of further and dedicated “Optimizations” is all that is needed and that’s purely at the software level. As for hardware, the Series X as the advantage, so once again, it comes down to Optimizations.

I think the Series X has you beat on this one. The difference here? Developers. DEVELOPERS. DEVELOPERS. It all depends on the Developers and if you have an ecosystem of machines, chances are, they’re going to be the same all across the board to achieve the best performance vs visual presentation package. So, yeah, at this point it’s pretty clear that Developers need to spend more time on optimization.

It’s textures aren’t out of this world, or lighting. But the art style carries the game, hard. The aesthetic is great

In performance most they can't even reach a stable 120fps on a game that is 3 years old. It looks like they're 1440P60, 4K20 consoles in reality. About what I'd expect from a PC that is 4-5 years old. But the dishonest marketing of both of them, I'm surprised neither of them have been sued for false advertisement.

it's up to the devs to utilize the power available on the machine, not the hardware manufacture.

honestly I think the hardware is held by the os, I just gave up on series x not because dips, I haven't experience those dips as df does, but the weird controller dead zones, I can't get it right, and I plug the controller on pc it works better, the ps5 controller it's less comfortable but the sticks works as it should, so I don't know why the mighty microsoft can't get the system right and output better performance because the hardware's power is there.

@@DarkP1 as Adam Walton noted here, the power is there... it's up to the devs to utilize it. Cyberpunk is a perfect example of bad optimization. The devs designing for next-gen need to ensure that the game is built to utilize the full 52 CUs and to also scale across all 8 CPU cores rather than just hammering 2-4 at a time

Because the Xbox series X has the more powerful hardware, there really is no easily identifiable reason why this would be happening. It is potentially something happening with the system OS on the series consoles that is currently less efficiently managing the games execution, but until we know why there is always going to be the question as to what exactly is going on here. It is like if one person with an RTX 2070 is somehow getting slightly better performance than someone else with an RTX 2080 with otherwise identical systems. It would raise questions as to why that is happening, and I'm sure there are people at Microsoft right now trying to figure out exactly that.

Funny enough no one really plays it on that setting on PC either, even with the option. Pretty much everyone I know (and know of for the most part) runs at lowest settings for more frames.

4K is RUINING EVERYTHING the only saviour is that 120 is a 'thing' now. GOD HELP 60FPS stability if they were not trying to hit 120.... They do not NEED to CLING on to 4K for DEAR LIFE at the cost of frame rates just so someone can bust out a MAGNIFYING glass on a 75inch HDTV from 4 inches away and do a side by side comparison of pixel density. 1440p IS ABSOLUTELY FINE.

@@tufflucal4037 what i've noticed by watching Digital Foundry is that, in many cases, the games are set up to run at higher resolutions on XSX and at a bit lower resolution on PS5. That leads to it probably looking a bit better on XSX but running a lot more stable on the PS5. I prefer more stable frame rate over resolution any day. But i don't know who makes those decisions. Anyway that's what know based on these great videos DF do.

For 300$ install that one game you want to play and don't bother with DF or any other performance details.

@@Juicersen clearly an optimisation issue with that. Especially when you play demon’s souls and Spider-Man. They boot up from Home Screen with ray tracing, 4K in less than 8 seconds, under two seconds from game menu. So that appears to be the right speed.

It’s just built to have no bottlenecks, developers have praised it for that. Also Cerny said it’s a very easy console to work on, time to triangle it twice as fast as PS4 so it’s easier to get the most out the console. We saw this with ps3 and 360 where the more powerful yet more complex console performed worse

Wat? loading times were like 40sec on ps4, and now are about 10sec on ps5, about the same as pc with ssd.

@noob world my point being, with how powerful the console is, it shouldn’t have a problem running 4K and 60. That’s what people were saying at least. That it was so much more powerful than the PS5 that it wouldn’t have a problem outperforming it in both resolution and frame rate.

DF said the PS5 was "exactly the same" for resolution scaling (ie, it maintains 4K all the time they could see) 3:08 They also said "the PS5 is really, really strong. It performs more consistently than Series X" 9:10 I can see you missing it in the vid. This is really more an Xbox comparison, with short mentions of the PS5 after each section tbf. Overall though, unless you're playing the same game side-by-side on each console. I don't think anyone could tell any differences.

Considering they just announced their 2021 lineup of TVs 2 days ago which all support full HDMI 2.1 features, I'm sure the VRR update will be upon us soon. But it's only important if you have a TV that supports it.

VRR is key, they need to enable it. once you have have it, you don't ever not want it. I'd trade like 10-20% of fps in every game for VRR. If that screen locks to just 30,60,120 you can notice fps hitches, but VRR you don't notice at all unless its like huge sustained drop like slowdown.

Stop it, the vast amount of TV's in homes don't support VRR at all. This is a case of people wanting buzzwords and acting like it's a big thing when it's not. Average gamer doesn't know what the hell they even means, and even less care. A few people knew what it is and might crow about it, but largely miniscule benefits. Let's stop making a mountain out of a mole hill. Gaming had been around for decades and VRR isn't even a staple feature, yet people are acting like it's something they really need. How did you enjoy your games before that VRR was ever a buzzword?

@@jonuiuc IDK what system you run on but when I'm locked at a frame rate I experience no hitches. VRR only matters if your system can't keep up with the displays refresh rate to reduce or eliminate screen tearing and keep you from noticing fps drops. Really? You'd rather have less fps just for VRR? That makes absolutely no sense! Why would that even matter? VRR doesn't require resources from your system to run it. VRR is run by the display and the system just needs to be able to talk to the display with a higher bandwidth for it to work which is where HDMI 2.1 comes in. I have a 144hz freesync monitor and I don't see what all the fuss is about. I personally didn't notice a difference when I enabled it and I could care less if I ever had that feature again. The only thing I think is more important is ALLM. That actually benefits the player with lower input latency helping with reaction times in games.

There is a real campaign with each expansion but they're typically short like 5-6 hours each dlc but it opens more of the game raids, dungeons new exotics, exotic quests- hold the exotic quests they changed alot with this new dlc retracted the game alot. But there on sale right now. If I was to suggests a dlc to buy other than the new one I'd buy forsaken. It's the longest campaign and has the most content to it. Good luck forsaken is $10 right now if you like the bones of the game spend a couple bucks try one of the dlc's it's $10 or so, so it's not going to break the bank imo.

(so, not including BC games) The thing that is different about that feature, is that it's actually EASIER to implement, than rumble is/was. It uses sound files to create Its vibrations and is edited in through the same channels that the game's sound designer uses. Sure, it might take a bit of extra time to choose the right sounds to give the right feels (testing etc) but that's not exactly untrue of rumble either. Maybe you're meaning the adaptive triggers? I could see that, but even so, I'd ask the same question. How many games so far haven't supported them? Developers seem genuinely interested in using those (once again, Sony have made it quite simple to utilize them in the API suite)
