@6:40 Dan, it's a means for someone who likes the messaging to buy a product from them. Books, supplements, channel subscriptions/shouts. These are all means to funnel messaging. It's how Klandice got her start, the GOP/Far right bought the hell out of her book.
Kim Young Un: Tim, would you work for us? Tim Pool: no way, i love my country Kim Young Un: 400K a month? Tim Pool: South Korea is our enemy, being funded by the Democrats. I will stress again, one of the greatest enemies of our nation right now is South Korea (slams desk)
I'm not a drug smuggler... I was simply transporting a parcel inside my colon on behalf of a nice Latin man I recently met. I've been deceived, I'm a victim!
Actually the drug carrier can be a victim, if he or someone he cares about was threatened by whatever organization is distributing the drugs. But he would obviously know he was smuggling something.
Fassbender lives by Christopher Lee's instruction: "Every actor has to make terrible films from time to time, but the trick is never to be terrible in them."
Prometheus is vastly underrated/overhated. It's brainless npcs that just parrot all the same lazy, shallow criticisms without giving them any actual original thought
Prometheus is a solid movie, it would have been better if Ridley was allowed to make Alien: paradise lost , but instead we got covenant and solidified the prequels as shit
The movie is straight up ,unashamedly a sci fi movie. There’s no question where the film’s heart is. It has its issues but Fassbender is not one of them. I thought he nailed it.
Wasn't Benny Johnson the one who attacked Destiny on Piers Morgan, and spread loads of BS anti-Ukraine pro-Russian propaganda talking points? Isn't that the guy?
I only know him from the incredibly cringe meme TED talk he did talking about nyan cat and stuff. You can probably find a compilation on youtube still called "cringiest ted talk ever" or some such.
Maybe Tim actually didn't know but Benny is actually a stooge. They told him to cover the moscow Isis attack and to say Ukraine helped facilitate it, and Benny got on his knees and opened his mouth and asked if he was a good girl.
The supposed cut dialogue in the engineer encounter is not even real. It's fanfic based on things Ridley Scott said about the story. Besides, if you actually read it, it's so on the nose it's kind of ridiculous. A lot of the themes of the movie can be understood without that giant exposition dump.
Lex is always best in the interviews where he doesn't speak much at all. Some guests are also really good at catapulting off of his terrible questions/comments into long and interesting monologues. I'm always frustrated that such a terrible Host has become a massive platform and access these fascinating people. If given a magic wand, Lex would be asking celebrities questions while eating spicy wings and Sean Evans and his hundreds of compliments about his excellent questions and research would take over Lex's podcast. The quality of any Lex episode is dependent on how much he contributes, more Lex = worse episode. But I have accepted why I think he became as popular as he did. For all of Lex's niche expertise and education, his ability to understand others and engage with topics outside of his own allows him to act as stand-in for all the dumb people listening. He asks the really dumb questions his audience would ask or his counterarguments are what you'd expect from a bottom quintile citizen. So when I think about him like that, I at least understand where his popularity came from.
I wouldn't say he's terrible outside of that but I definitely only watch him talk to scientists as well. He's in his element with the scientists, but his welcoming nature opens the door for ideologues to abuse his platform.
7/11 rejected a buyout offer of $30 billion. 30 billon for every store in the world. 20% above it's trading price. And Twitter sold for more than that? How? Why?
because twitters value is intangible. the value of owning the town hall that everyone in your village goes to daily is incredibly large. even though 2% of the population uses twitter, you hear ´people on twitter are outraged´ ´this is whats happening on twitter´. the way it can influence millions of peoples psyche is worth the money.
It's simple. Elon opened his big mouth and he was forced to make the deal he offered. He tried to back out, but t courts wouldn't have it. So for ego and hubris, Elon paid at least 3x it's value
@@kurt7937 For the majority of time Twitter has been a thing, it was not profitable. It did not turn a profit until the last qaurter of 2017. It ran for a over a decade on investor capital. Elon overpaid by at 4x what it was actually worth if not more.
Because 7/11 probably believes it will make more than 20% its market value. Another reason it could be that I’m too lazy to check is 7/11 could have a higher book to market ratio so even though their price is not high it’s because of high capital expenditure to pay for things like the building, inventory, etc. much more than what twitter would have (who’s book to market ratio is like 10%
There is a huge move for corporations to understand who their suppliers are. I work in fin-tech and our procurement *(and general third-party arrangements) process has become more robust each year to ensure we understand the risk of working with another organization. Tim Pool has enough influence and a big enough operation that he should be doing the same thing.
1:12:45 terrible take Dan. They’re knowingly grifting false information. If they had proof of an actual real scheme they’d all loose their voices from actually shouting. But they don’t even believe what they say 90% of the time… so yeah, it’s way different Dan
Destiny has the actual worst movie takes. Prometheus is an awesome movie that adds loads of awesome lore to the Alien world. ACTING LIKE A ROBOT WHEN YOU AREN'T ONE IS OBVIOUSLY HARD! Fastbender was a highlight of the movie. Is the movie perfect and amazing? No! It was stupid fun and a maaaad lore dump. I loved it
@@giovalladares1022being cordial and bending over and grifting for someone are too different things. Lex is dishonest and hides his biases. He clearly sides with Russian interests and Trump’s rhetoric.
@@giovalladares1022 I am not projecting. Have been a Lex podcast viewer for years. And I have seen him grift for the past 3-4 years. There’s a pattern here. The so called centrist Lex is too spineless to actually admit he leans towards figures like trump and Putin. The guy is so centrist that he blocks people for simply asking him critical questions on twitter. I think it’s you who needs to reevaluate your own opinion on Lex.
Interesting to hear them talk about Jade. Was recently rewatching old clips and made me miss both her and Mouton. Would be cool to see them both back sometime
I'd say the best episodes are when Dan is capable of not throwing a temper tantrum and derailing the episode. If Dan avoids situations where he isn't being agreed with or it is suggested he's wrong then he is less likely to try and ruin the episode for everyone. As far as I'm concerned, Dan is pretty bad at bouncing back and behaving like a show host with a focus on providing a good episode for the audience once he feels slighted/wronged.
I started listening to Lex over four years ago. Lex's interview with Kanye was the first sign of how bad it will become. I finally blocked him after Bassam Yousef.
He literally pushed back on Kanye what’s wrong with you? Do you just want all interviewers to be angry acoustic Redditors when they pushback on people?
Lex' potential arrest? He isn't a great political commentator by any nomination, yet as a science communicator he is excelent. His style fits well with guests from academia. Destiny has "vegan gains" on from time to time, a utter trash of a human lol
I don't know what Dan''s joke was about the lipstick and rainbows, but I'm about his age, and I remember hearing about rainbow parties that teens would have. It apparently involved multiple colors of lipstick, and fellatio... very weird concept.
7:46 in this case elon might be a reference to Wernher von Brauen's book the Mars Project (1952) its wild that he chose "Elon" as the title of the hypothetical leader of a colony on mars well before Elon musk was born
Donald Trump denied Kamala Harris was ever any part Native. That’s a far cry from criticizing somebody for flip flopping when it’s politically convenient you bad faith pos
Honestly most of these podcast episodes are boring and directionless. Dan is an incredibly annoying character who doesn't push back at all and Destiny doesn't take anything seriously here anyway.
1. Prometheus was amazing. It had its flaws but the good parts were amazing and overshadow the bad. The performances weren't horrible. They did cut out some good stuff. True. But the stuff that was still in there was still good. Just because a thing is a missed opportunity doesn't mean the product is horrible. It's just not as good as it could be. 2. No please don't start a destiny movie section. Guy has the worst media and food takes. Stick to your lane dman. holy shit Annihilation too now? wild
I feel like michael fassbander character was more than just an emotionless robot. Anybody else think that or atleast performances in the movies were even though the writing was bad atleast?
Dan is completely wrong about the Turbo button. The turbo button was added to slow the speed of newer processors in order to allow older games to run slower. This is because older games ran at a speed relative to the clock speed of the processor. Too high of a clock speed and your games will run so fast that you cant play them. Use the turbo to take down the clock speeds by several megahertz, and everything will run similar to how it would on the ideal processor from the previous generations that the games were made for.
@@Thirk No, he said the opposite. He said it boosted the clock by a few megahertz. He assumed that "Turbo" means "Go Faster" and likely misunderstood the explanation I iterated above. I likely first heard of this from Lazy Game Review, but over my time as a technician I have had the pleasure of using a single PC old enough to have a Turbo button. Some real Gen X nostalgia that my Gen Y brain wishes I could appreciate.
@@oisincurran3207he soyed out and tried to morally high road destiny after he criticized lex for claiming to be a centrist yet only questions the actions of democrats and seems to be silent when it comes to Trump and republicans. He thinks destiny should have contacted him privately about this criticism which is ridiculous. I used to think lex was a smart guy but lex constantly carries water for trump and the right. Lex childishly unfollowed destiny after all this if you go to destinys subreddit and type in lex you can see all of the posts lex has made about destiny.
People who say, 'I don’t think American money should go to helping Ukraine; we need the money at home,' confuse me. When your European allies stood by you in Afghanistan after 9/11, did they complain about the cost? When the UK joined you in Iraq, did they complain about the cost? European countries have supported the U.S. in other conflicts too-like during the Gulf War when they helped liberate Kuwait. Now, when Europe needs support to keep a fascist, tyrannical neighbor at bay, you don’t want to help? Some Americans don’t understand how much support they get from their friends; they just assume everyone is trying to leech off the U.S. But the truth is, the U.S. is the big dog, and most deals with your friends benefit you more than them.
They also don’t understand we are the big dog due to are friends to begin with but no let’s try and suck up to the country that’ll stab us in the back cause that’s smart, some of my fellow Americans gotta graduate from the short bus
Yes, their people complained about the cost. So did American citizens. You are using a motte and bailey. You are using multiple Countries while switching between them. Also whataboutisms. You are conflating NATO countries being attacked. NATO Countries have a responsibility to one another. Ukraine is not in NATO. Yes, the U.S. should help Ukraine but not because the UK has helped the U.S. in the past. That is not relevant to ANYTHING. The UK helped the U.S. therefore Ukraine should get help is not a good argument. It is a non-sequitur.
They can't think about concepts that can't be explained on a bumper sticker. Beside that, they usually just think whatever Putin and Trump tell them to.
I’m with you on supporting Ukraine but the US pays far, far more in military spending than any country in Europe, probably more than all the countries in Europe combined. The amount of resources spent in Afghanistan or Iraq by their European allies was a drop in the bucket compared what the US is spending in Ukraine.
What did any of the wars u mentioned accomplish tho? A couple dozen US military bases being built and new terrorist orgs popping up? Wow what a geopolitical win!
There was no point in making a new Napoleon movie, considering we already had an outstanding movie about him, ‘Waterloo’ (1970), it’s an outstanding movie that skips immediately to the very most exciting part of his life, and it’s super entertaining, acting is great.
51:55 $300 to sit in front of a Best Buy and wait? 99% of people would do it. That's vastly more than what the average person makes. Clearly demonstrates how out of touch rich people like Dan and Destiny have become. How much could a banana possibly cost? $10? 300 per night, 5 nights a week $1500 x 52 weeks a year at $78,000. Jesus haych Christ, guys. I'll do it. It's not even including overtime. I'll wait in front of a Best Buy 5 nights a week for 78k per annum. Are you nuts?! Edit for correction; it was just DAN saying "it wasn't worth it for little profit" Typical out of touch rich guy, Landlord Dan. Sorry Destiny.
43:08 Those are STATE (funded) preschool programs. There are MANY kids who go to PRIVATE preschool programs. I was born in the early 80's. Didn't go to preschool.
It bothers me how Tim Pool used worst possible way to excuse himself from this quicksand.... guy gets exposed of being payed by Russia and next thing he does is makes video of him reading from paper that: "we USA, should apologize for Russia"...
Man if I were a DEMOCRAT I WOULD 100% TALK ABOUT ONLINE STREAMERS AND BRING ATTENTION TO THE TRUE RIGHT WING RUSSIAN PROPAGANDA MONEY. ITS ACTUALLY INSANE. THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN RUSSIA, A COUNTRY CONSERVATIVES BECAME FAMOUS FOR IDEOLOGICALLY FIGHTING IN THE COLD WAR ARE NOW WIERD INEXPLICABLE RUSSIAN PUPPETS

Tim’s statement is almost worse than if they knew. “Yeah I got paid 100k a video to do literally nothing different than what I would’ve been doing anyways guys, it wasn’t suspect at all!”
@00:48:00 Steven was close the other know jack shit about the refinery of crude oil. How do I know? I am the fucking engineer that deals with this shit. Crude oil get filters. Several different methods to do so. But the future of oil filtration is in Gulftronics. Basically through Electrolysis we separate particles within the crude oil. this changes the properties and viscosity of oil. And the biproduct of this oil refinement is Graphite / Carbon fiber.
AJW breakdown of the Russia stuff just proves how insanely bad faith and slimy he was during the Democracy on the ballot debate Complete waste of time everything out of his mouth was lies.
