Destiny Music is Going Back to the 80's in Lightfall... 

Here is all the motifs for those you missed! Lightfall main motif, obviously the main melody of the title screen that will be used all throughout the expansion, which is also used at the end of all trailers for Lightfall as Bungie usually does with main motifs. Here's where it's used: -CloudArk: 1:07, 2:36, 3:28 (the high pitched synth playing over the darkness synth) -Battle Ready: 5:03, 6:15, 6:33, 6:55, 7:30 (in between the Cabal Stomp motif for this entire segment), 10:16, 11:15, 11:26 Neomuna Patrol motif, think the Lucent World melody from The Witch Queen soundtrack. The Lucent World melody was used in numerous places throughout Savathun's Throne World. This melody can be heard on both tracks here and was also heard in music used in some of Bungie's promotional material. Here's where it's used: -CloudArk: 2:08 -Battle Ready: (only the first 3 notes of the motif are referenced in this track) 5:53, 7:15 , 9:16, 11:10 Cabal Stomp motif, the main motif of the Cabal, established all the way in the original Destiny 1. Considering this is a Calus expansion, this motif here makes a lot of sense. Here's where it's used: -CloudArk: 2:47 -Battle Ready: 7:25 (the horns throughout this entire segment play the Cabal Stomp melody in a unique rhythm not done before in between the Lightfall main motif, but absolutely an intentional reference) Guardian motif, obviously the melody that represents us, the players, established back in Destiny 1 on the title screen. Salvatori, the lead composer of Battle Ready basically uses this in every single track that he makes, and Battle Ready is no exception. Here's where it's used: -Battle Ready: 5:45, 7:12 (very faintly on the horns in the background), 9:48 (extended version of the motif that doesn't actually finish it properly) Beyond Light motif, the main theme for the expansion where we first wielded the darkness. This might seem like a weird inclusion in a Lightfall track, but this motif is about more than just Europa, Eramis and the Bray family. It's about the time where we first crossed the line between Light and Dark and started wielding the Darkness as a weapon. Considering Strand, the next Darkness subclass is a major part of this expansion, the inclusion of this motif here actually makes complete sense! Here's where it's used: -Battle Ready: 6:19, 9:21 That *should* be everything, but if I missed anything let me know! The other melodies in these two tracks are unique and we haven't heard yet in other places so far, but they might appear on tracks of the soundtrack we haven't heard yet! About where each of these tracks (might) play: CloudArk is highly likely a Neomuna Patrol track, with the drums kicking in partially through being part of the Light Action (whenever you're fighting enemies in patrol or in a lost sector). In the ViDoc an action variant of this track can be heard, which will likely be used in story missions or any special activities on Neomuna. It's not the main title screen theme as those are always called the name of the expansion, with the exception of The Taken King, Warmind, and both base game releases. We already know there is a track called Lightfall on the soundtrack, so that will be the main title screen theme. Battle Ready is 100% a campaign action track. Salvatori is often the one composing those. Think tracks like Insurrection and Seeking the Light from The Witch Queen. They are not heard outside of the campaign and often not even heard outside of the single mission/encounter they were composed for. To quickly also comment on the variation of the Guardian theme you pointed out towards the end, this is something Salvatori specifically does a lot, and you actually caught onto it during the listen through, which is awesome! They don't always play the exact theme and in cases like 9:48 they don't properly finish it, but your brain kind of automatically completes the theme anyway, which is super cool! Apologies for the long comment, but hopefully this helped for those wanting to know a bit more about what's going on in these two tracks!

I love how that choir immediately let's you know what game this music is from. That and the orchestra, they're both staples of Destiny music.

I've said this all over, and I'll say it here again: Battle Ready sounds like the love child of the Destiny 2 theme and the 80s A-Team TV show theme.

Battle Ready, when I first heard it, burst down the door to my brain and has been living there rent free since. It is such a unique track. It sounds so different from other tracks even with the many leitmotifs in it. I've already listened to it 3 dozen times, and I'm sure I'll listen to it many more times

It's just so much fun seeing you bop and vibe to the music, especially Battle Ready. Fun fact, in Battle Ready there's also a bit of "We're The Desperate Measures" and "Traffic Jam" from Halo 3: ODST

I'm not sure if it's the motif you were thinking of at 8:25 but at 6:20 and 9:20 there's a bit of the Beyond Light motif that showed up throughout that expansion as we learned and mastered Stasis, and also briefly in The Witch Queen's main theme, the expansion where we gained another Darkness power with Deepsight. I'm guessing Battle Ready will probably play in some scene(s) where we get to try out Strand!

For the first track, the heavy, distorted synths that are usually used to signify the Witness, lying just underneath that main, hopeful melody, were actually playing the primary motif used in Cabal Stomp, the original theme of the Cabal, the first one you'd ever hear when fighting them back on Mars in Destiny 1.

I’m not sure if this was an intentional leak or a mistake on whoever runs the Sony vevo channel but whatever the case, I’m glad I got to hear these banger songs. Battle Ready is such a vibe and I can’t wait to tear through the Shadow Legion while it plays. It’s also really interesting hearing the main motif of the Beyond Light expansion popping up a couple times too. I also suspect the sequence of four notes repeating a few times at 5:11 might be the theme for the Cloud Striders, but we’ll see when the expansion releases. And hearing the Cabal theme with the Darkness electronic instrumentation in the first song is sooo cool.

The funny thing about that is that Battle Ready is being played when we are going through a training course Osiris helped set up so we can get better at using Strand, which to me, mostly thanks to the music, felt like we were playing through an actual training montage.

I heard Look Within in there at 6:19, the theme of Beyond Light and Stasis. As for the bouncy and happy feel to the second song: Nimbus, the rookie Cloud Strider is described that way. Perhaps in this moment you're working with him somehow?

I'm a bit late to this one but I love how this is so different yet still so definitively Destiny. Part of me hopes that bits of Battle Ready make it to the login screen music. It'd be a nice tonal shift from all the slow (but still fantastic) pieces we've had for login screens these past few expansions.

Headlong on Legendary was my favorite encounter in the game, an actual training montage perfectly translated to gameplay. It's insane how Marco nailed it so long before the DLC release.

Damn this sounds good! Something just hit me while listening to this, when you mentionned the Witness. The madmen at Bungie already did something incredible in Witch Queen with the Insurrection track. With the Cabal music as we know it, mixed with the Pyramid theme and instruments... At this point, the two musics were side by side, juxtaposed but not fused. And this CloudArk one made me realize that it was just a prelude! We are here one step above Insurrection : there is the Cabal leitmotiv, but this time with the Pyramid instrumentalization. The Cabal and the Pyramids aren't distinct anymore : they are one. It isn't about the Witness himself. It's about Calus and his Shadow Legion coming into the soundscape of this new city of Neomuna and invading it! Crazy how they can manage to take all that into account with just a few seconds of music. The five notes that makes up the Lightfall leitmotiv is also really doing something to me. Both in CloudArk and Battle Ready. I wonder why! It's so simple yet so effective. I'll try and not look for more of the Lightfall OST that leaked online earlier. Can't wait to here it ingame!

I just had a thought about plot, because of the Cloud striders ten year limit, where there are only two at a time, they would have a deep understanding of death and loss. Therefore, I’m thinking that if a major character dies in this expansion or the next, they would be able to bring a new perspective to the table. Bungie did comment on the cloudstriders as bringing a new perspective to the guardians at some point.

8:22 the heavy, impending brass strikes heavily as the Cabal motif. I think Dust Giants is a good example of this. Potentially it could be our enemies, the Shadow Legion, going toe to toe with guardians, or perhaps guardians rallying with Caiatl and the coalition to fight back against the Shadow Legion. The lighter trumpets strike more as the tower/humanity’s theme. I loved the change they made to the Guardian theme and the ramping up to it, to me it signifies growth and strength, which fits perfectly with the discovery of strand. Hope this comment was able to help you find that missing piece!

As far as the Cloud Arc being "hope and possibility, but also with some dark undercurrents": So the city of Neomuna is under siege by an ancient nihilist bent on ending the universe. The Cloud Arc is a digital backup of the consciousnesses of every single civilian in the city(I think? so far we only have a little bit of pre-release material) They also describe it as a digital copy of the city that non-combatants can continue to live their normal peaceful lives in while their bodies are safely tucked away in deep underground bunkers. Meanwhile us, and whatever's left of their defense force are fighting in the streets above to reclaim them so those people can emerge once peace settles.

4:41 It isn't. The title screen track is always just the name of the expansion. In the description of the two tracks that Sony released, they list the whole soundtrack. CloudArk is #5 while Lightfall is #1. Edit: Just went back to the videos to make sure I remembered the numbers correctly and found out they removed the track list, rightfully so. I'm shocked they released these two tracks already in the first place cause Bungie doesn't usually release the soundtrack until the day of release.
