Ted: I use to work as a manager for a water company. They have funds and insurance that should cover all of you loses. Don't let them off the hook for a single thing. They need to make you whole and also pay you for the lost income from the damaged trucks not making any income for now, and any lost wages that might have occurred. Thanks
Sorry Ted. Fellow HVAC man in Pennsylvania. I have been following you for a couple of years on your channel. I truly hope everything turns out ok for you. You are one of the good guys in our field.
The destructive power of water is frightening. Distressing to see all the hard work you put into the new store destroyed in seconds. Best wishes. Keep your chin up Ted.
Sure sorry to see that! I worked for a municipality (430,000 people - Wichita KS) for over 20 years and know that you will have to be willing to stand on a few throats to get any satisfaction from a city. They will want to low ball you over every little thing and when you get some small concession from them they will act as though the city did you a huger favor. Bless you and stay on them!
Saw the devastation in person on Monday, it was unbelievable to see the damage caused by water. You’re a smart guy Ted, you’ll get through this. At least the bike collection and inventory was undamaged.
So so sorry Ted. Had to deal with a ruptured toilet supply hose at my moms years ago. By the time I got there the basement was knee deep. What a mess. Never want to go through that again. Good luck!!
I’m so sorry Ted 😢😢😢. The water companies insurance will have to pay, but how much is the 💰💰💰 question. Hopefully you won’t need to get lawyers involved. The only silver lining is nobody got hurt. Everything can be repaired or replaced except you! Hope things move along quickly for you 👍👍
I'm sorry that this happened to you and your employees and your business. I'm no insurance estimator but I would say over all damages are well up to abouts 500k to get it back to the original condition. IMO I wouldn't let them do anything less then you you deserve. If not your business could take a loss in damages not caused by you. You are a very smart business man for sure, I wish you the very best in recovery and dealing with that massive headache. Keep us posted Ted.
Man, This sucks. Watched you build everything in that shop just to see it destroyed. Shame about all the vans and damage but I'm sure it will all get sorted out. Hopefully you'll come out better then before
You will likely need to get a lawyer involved. Most municipalities have sovereign immunity for damages caused by them, which means you won’t get a dime from them to cover your losses and expenses. Even with an attorney you still may not get any compensation for the damages. Good luck with all of the cleanup and repairs.
It's going to be hard to answer service calls without all the work vans. Be sure to track the lost revenue. I know Ted will get through this and come back stronger. Sending prayers and best wishes.
That sucks. I got hit by a hurricane last year, a few months after having my chevy van painted for peeling paint. Good luck with the county or city because your gonna need it.
Bummer! As one contributor said, DON'T LET THEM OFF THE HOOK! All of your damage MUST be covered. Might need to get a friend who understands damage like this to get involved. So sorry!
Make sure to contact your insurance company and put in a 'precautionary' claim, so if city or water authority wont fix, it will not come as a surprise to your own insurance claims department weeks or months down the road. They can also be your advocate in pursuing the perpetrators - Good Luck!
Ted I'm so sorry this happened after all the effort to renovate your new place. It will probably be more aggravation than you can possibly imagine but try your best not to let it overtake your thoughts and life. Keep up the good fight.
I sure hope the municipality takes responsibility and helps with the recovery cost! This is a perfect example of the cost of doing business! Cost that you would never imagine would ever come into play! A DAMN WATER MAIN RUPTURE! Who would even think about that? Homeowners have no clue about the risks that are involve in business when they complain about repair cost! Tomorrow is always another opportunity for a better day!
Sorry for what has happened to you! I’m glad it happened in the middle of the night and not during the day. When things could have been a lot worse! Everyone is safe! Will be praying for you in this tuff time
Sorry this happened to you man. I know how hard you worked to get this shop set up and looking good. Good luck dealing with insurance. I hope they pay you pretty well.
Wow that was crazy! Document everything that is damaged with your videos. Use all of your videos to get back everything you need to have everything fixed or replaced.
Hate any disruption to your customers this may have caused. It will be a nice claim against the insurance. At least our Tigers had a big W against Notre Dame Sat!
At first glance I thought it was construction work that threw the asphalt around but then I realized it was high pressure water from the main throwing debris around. Sadly they don’t make vans quite like those vintage Chevy vans any more, and the new equivalents aren’t cheap.
Large volumes of water under pressure is a seriously destructive force. Man oh man... My 1st thought was "How many moves did ole Ted have to make to find that lousy bad water main?"... What a flippin' mess... :( A fella sure don't need that kind of hassle.
I hope you have better luck than people in Dallas a few years ago did. They ended up not paying anything to some town home owners when a huge water line blew out and caused flooding.and structural damage to the buildings not counting all the contents ruined. City council members had visited the site and told the residents that the city would pay for everything but in the end they did not pay.
wow that is a real big bummer definitely hoping for a fast recovery for you i have been watching your channel for a long time now and this really is something i definitely hope that the water department doesn’t give you the runaround and makes it right on your damages what a mess
Man, that water did some damage!! I've seen a lot of things, but I've NEVER seen a water main blow like that one, and I've seen some water mains blow!!
Holy smoke! The longer you watch the worse it gets. I am very sorry that happened to your business and building. I wish you the best, and hopefully a prompt and acceptable outcome with the various insurance people you will be dealing with.
Your headaches have just begun. The insurance company is going to look for the cheapest way out of this. Your going to have to hold their feet to the fire. Your best bet is likely to have your insurance cover the repair costs and let them subbragate against the utilities insurance.👍🇨🇦
Hope your water department takes care of your damage. Hopefully no one was injured, just sad to see the damage to your hard earned equipment and facility.
I don't comment to often. But my God! What a mess! It's horrible it happened, but thankfully happened when no one was outside in that area. That could of seriously hurt or killed someone, with all those rocks being thrown. On a side note, did they dry the carpet at all after cleaning it? I work for a carpet cleaning /restoration company, and to me that looks terrible
Good time to consider all new concrete in front and down to the basement. Maybe the city will let you slide on some of the b.s. normally required such as "planters" and beautification nonsense.
You might hire a private insurance adjuster, as insurance companies tend to be very tight. I say this after undergoing a nine million dollar condo loss following hurricane Francis and Jean in 2004 in Florida. The private adjusters saved us an enormous amount of money. 😎
im so sorry to hear that happened ted i really hope the city is held liable for those damages and you dont have to go through your own business insurance that would be so unfair if you had to
Wow, sorry for the bad luck Ted. At least you have one van right? The one with the wrap you take home with you looks like? At least the shop looks intact.
