This is why I always try to salvage parts off of changeouts and any parts I feel can be used on another system. For how long it can take to get a part in, having a backup until the actual part comes in can really help a customer with the stress of no heat. Especially if there’s kids in the house or elderly. My co workers say it’s not a good idea to reuse parts and always try to get oem but to be able to get them temporary heat until you can actually fix it is a huge relief
Good job Ted, ethically handled and made sure it was safe before anything else. Went the extra mile on this one going through as many tests you had to just to make sir they have heat; but safely and ethically. Darn RPMs of the old one holding you up haha!
Sometimes you have got to go that extra mile, excellent service is rewarded with extra work. I find your work ethic and ability quite remarkable. Salutations from the UK.
Interestingly enough, Ted professes himself as an hvac pro, which is very far from the truth. He's a philosopher, a song from an Era long gone, an ASMR wonder and an island of peace and normalcy in these crazy times. Stay awesome Ted
I am going to replace the unit, but I saw no reason to leave the people freezing cold for several days until I can get to it. The homeowner asked me to determine the age of the unit…. Then it was decided by him to have us install a new one.
@@TedCookHVACEveryone is different. If that were my heater, I'd keep using it because it seems to be in very clean condition etc. Those inducer blowers need to be made with higher quality motors/bearings...often they fail much too soon.
A question to all, I replaced the control board and the 2 roll out switches and the main thermal switch on my 20 year old furnace "International Comfort" 80% but now the fans start and stop for about a second even when the thermostat is off, did I cross a wire somewhere?
So, there are actually two variants of those transitions that Trane used for those furnaces, both of which should be available from your Trane or American standard supply house. I personally stock about two of each on my truck, might be worth stocking on your truck in case you ever run into a broken one again. Probably going to be more common as these systems get older in age.
There are a lot of technicians that would've thrown up their hands and said its to dilapidated even for a temporary repair its good to see there are still a few good technicians who will do what needs to be done to help keep people worm.
