In winter preparation mode, one of the things that needed to be done is grading the driveway. This needed to be done before the ground freezes and give the smooth surface time to pack down before using the snowblower.
Today we are using the Kubota LX2610 with the Land Pride GS1560.
Thank you for joining me today I really appreciate you being here!
I get asked questions about the things I use on the channel all the time. Below you will find a list of items I own and use all the time. If any of that interest you take a look.
I may receive a small commission if you purchase using my link at no additional cost to you.

I did notice in your previous video exactly what u r now talking about. With every drag from your mail box to your home you could see that all you did was drag up rocks that got dropped into the pothole which gave the appearance that the pothole was now taken care of when in all actuality it was just rocks dumped in it that will eventually get pushed out. You have to tear out the walls in order to get rid of that hole. Good Luck and love the videos!

Although I’m in the green family, I still enjoy watching anything tractor related. Here in central Oklahoma we have a lot of red clay and sand. Currently I’m using my 2038R with an everything attachments 6’ box blade to maintain and an 1/8 mile long private road. I’d love to get a land plane at some point though. I just thought I would mention that I use a cheap drag harrow from tractor supply once I’m done grading and that really gives it that finished look. We need more stone on the road, but the drag harrow does a great job of bringing what we have back to the surface. Thanks for sharing and you did a great job.

Nice work on rejuvinating the driveway! Nice looking place in the woods too! Don't be afraid to run a drag over it afterwards if you need to smoothen out any imperfections left by the land plane. I switched to a TR3 (abi attachments) for grading and I love it. They are pricey though! Nice looking place, congrats!

You've got it figured out. The pothole has got to be excavated around its perimeter rather than just filled in. Hopefully you won't have further problems there. The driveway looks great!

Looks good. I agree the best thing for it now would be a bunch of traffic to get some compaction on it before it freezes. Nice job

Driveway looks good Dave. I will be grading my driveway once the current rainy weather passes. Have a good one!

Thanks Paul, rain will help fill your pond.

In order to finish the job you need to run a compactor over it to set it. But that's not practical. Gravel driveways need twice a year maintenance. More potholes and and washboard will show up. Then you grade it again, no peoblem.

Overall is an easy driveway to maintain so far.

Drive your Tacoma up and down the driveway many times to pack down the fresh gravel. Also drive over the first few snowfalls to pack the snow down so your blower doesn’t dig in and fill your bush with gravel.

That’s the plan, still enough time to do a light top grade too.

Nice job! I have a 5’ box blade and tore part way through the box steel with the scarifier. I think the JD series 3 tractor is a little big for it. Would love to get a land plane at some point.

Thanks! I was surprised how much material it actually brings with it. This is a little big for my Hp tractor, but I take my time.

@@MtTopLiving yes it is made to bring in the material and fill in the low spots. It seems to do a good job.

You did a great job on the driveway. Looks like good material to pack down before the frost arrives. Is your leaf blower homemade or commercial built?
@MtTopLiving

Thanks Stephen. The leaf blower is a Snapper. Probably early 80’s. Before moving here a neighbor who was retiring from landscaping gave it to me. Didn’t run at the time but I eventually got it going, it suits my needs.

I didnt see you use the tilt to create a crown for water to run off. If you kept if flat all the way down it will gather water and create a new pothole everytime. Try crowning the center up higher and pull the gravel from the shoulders. You can even drop to a single scarifier and trench the very edge near the grass to allow the water a place to go. Once you drive over it, your tires will make a “W” shape so the idea is to drop the two outside lines for flow “/\” if that makes sense. I use a box blade for my driveway but i would like a land plane, much easier to use.

The driveway pitches to one side or the other. I have never had a problem with rain sitting on top.

How are you liking the LX2610? I’m currently looking at 2502’s but a cab would be nice for winter. The implement is 60” right?
@MtTopLiving
@MtTopLiving 8 месяцев назад
Yes it’s 60”. Over all I’m happy with the tractor, sometimes I wish I could lift heavier things. The cab is nice however it is loud inside it. Do not bother getting the radio, you will never hear it unless the tractor is off.
