The reason the "Flammel made the Mirror" theory cracks me up is because there was literally a piece of evidence that would have actually given it at least a little ground- Harry got the Philosophers Stone from the Mirror: maybe the reason he was able to do that was because the Mirror was made in conjunction with the Stone. Even that theory doesn't have a whole lot of evidence to it, but it's better than "He made one cool thing, what if he made a completely different cool thing?"

I actually think the theory is pretty good, conceptionally. Just imagining a lone man, who achieved immortality to realise that everyone and everything important to him is aging and dieing, but he alone remains, and in a desperate attempt to find a reason to continue his life, he creates a mirror that can show someone's deepest desires, is so good.

Ok so I had an insane theory off the twin theory. Determined to get a girl, Arthur and Molly tried using an altered polyjuice potion during her pregnancy to attempt to influence the gender of the child, instead it created an identical twin. This caused them to come to terms with their lot in children and not trying again when Ron was born and feeling their patience was rewarded when Ginny was born. It's crazy I know but better than the chat gpt one😂

Not an animagus. A Maledictus. Regulus didn't order Kreacher to leave him to the inferi in the cave. He ordered Kreacher to tell people that that was his fate. In reality, he turned into Crookshanks forever and knew he was changing all along. This is why he never changes back and also why Sirius never actually knows that Crookshanks is his brother. He really meant to try to destroy the locket but changed into Crookshanks before he could accomplish his goal. Then cozied up to Hermione so that he could help guide the trio along the way. ChatGPT knows all even if it makes a slight mistake.

Yep. I personally believe that given enough time Voldemort could have broken the enchantment and got the stone,the mirror would merely delay him hopefully long enough to stop him. I just like the idea of the first book actually having stakes

I feel like that is only how it;s depicted in the movie and in the books, the clothes transform with them. especially when you consider that certain accessories they wear everyday like glasses become special markings that can be used to identify the witch/wizard in their animagus state

Offhand, it means James, Sirius, and Peter don't become animagi. Peter can't fake his own death (at least not in the same way), so Sirius may not go to Azkaban. In fact, he might have been the alternate choice for Secret Keeper. Since he wouldn't be an outcast, Remus may have married much earlier, and not married Tonks.

People tend to give dumbledore a lot more credit than he deserves. It wasn't until voldemort took Harry's blood.That dumble door had any plans for harry to actually survive. Until that moment, He was planning for a harry to have for sacrifice his own life to defeat Voldemort. The possibility of harry surviving didn't even come into being until voldemore Took lily's sacrifice into his own body. So dumbledore was literally raising harry as a pig for slaughter just like snape said.

What If Idea: What If Harry actually used the Pensive Highlights include but are not limited to: Voldemorts return, The Dementor Attack (Dumbledore to defend him), to Prove Peter Pettegrew is still alive There are multiple points where very shortly after a situation where Harry's word is ignored the Pensive would prove that Harry remembers it happening and you would not expect a 13 to 15 year old to be able to modify their memory on the fly mere minutes to few hours later without leaving marks of modifications

I'm for it. And yeah, Slughorn had decades and his memory mod was still super splotchy. While they'd certainly try to accuse Harry of tampering with it, it would be a lot harder to deal with than just a "he said, Minister of Magic said" situation.

While I wholeheartedly think this could have cleared up a lot, there's a few perfectly logical reasons they didn't. One from a story perspective, and one from an author perspective. 1. The pensieve belongs to Hogwarts, and at the time to Dumbledore specifically. In the situations where Harry's story would have been called into question, Fudge did not trust Dumbledore and thus would hesitate to use his pensieve, as Dumbledore could potentially alter the memory. Not that he would, but it's what Fudge might believe. 2. You need to have conflict to tell a story. If they used the pensieve in these scenarios, there would be no conflict in Order of the Phoenix. The Ministry would not see Dumbledore as an enemy, so there's no reason to place Umbridge at Hogwarts, then there's no reason to form the DA. Sometimes you have to sacrifice logic in order to tell a good story, and characters don't always make the best decisions for the same reason.

@@rennakahara7851 Agreed on both points, though as a writer I do have a small gripe with one line. I don't believe it's ever mandatory to sacrifice logic for the sake of a story. While a good story can still have such holes, avoiding them with careful writing is absolutely possible. One issue that comes up often, as is the case here, is "why did the characters not use [blank] to solve the problem?" (which gets especially rough for soft-magic stories that spread out everywhere like with this series). If you see one of these coming, and you can't allow them to use it for the sake of the story, then you need to actively cut it off from them in some way. A character might even directly reference wanting to do it that way, but something comes up to ruin it. And a personal favorite of mine: In a fight between two characters, you know which one has to lose. But rather than having them do something dumb to leave themselves open (unless it's thematically relevant), focus on making the character who wins earn it by being more clever and cirumventing whatever defenses or tactics their opponent may have. In other words: Don't make the losing character be dumb, make the winning character be smart. Sorry to go off on a rant, but I like writing and I LOVE really _good_ writing. So here's some free advice for anyone interested, that's all.

I have nothing to back the idea, but I've always felt that Dumbledore wanted to keep the abilities of the Pensive quiet. Its a powerful magical artifact with mysterious origins that connect back to the school grounds. Ancient schools of mystic orders are known for wanting to keep their secrets, so I would think it would be unlikely for any Hogwarts Headmaster to have shared any information about any artifacts in their collection, if they could help it. So odds are, the Ministry didn't even know about it.

Funnily enough, there actually is a Harry Potter fanfiction featuring an integral plot point that Regulus Black was an unregistered, unknown animagus - but rather than being Crookshanks, he was Buckbeak. They connect this to Sirius being an animagus because, through observation, Regulus figured out that Sirius was preparing to undergo his first animagus transformation and, after some researching during which he discovered that legilimancy doesn’t work on wixen in their animagus form, which was particularly appealing because Regulus was already questioning his parents’ allegiance to blood purity and Voldemort and trying to find a way to break away without risking getting caught. Their animagus forms are also connected by the fact that both - a grim (Sirius) and a hippogriff (Regulus as Buckbeak) - are magical creatures.

Don’t be so quick to equate all cats as being bad in water. While Crookshanks is referred to as ‘Hermione’s cat’ let’s not forget that Crookshanks is actually half Kneazle. I don’t pretend to know what that might encompass but I do know certain big cat breeds like tigers and jaguars are quite adept in water. It’s possible that Crookshanks, a half Kneazle, (referred to by HP himself as either a very big cat or quite the small tiger) is skilled in the water. I agree with you of course that RAB is not Crookshanks but still fun to spin the potential details.

I have always liked the theory that Cadmus Peverell made the Resurrection Stone, Mirror Of Erised, & the Veil Because it reminds me of Bongo-Bongo making the Mask Of Truth, Lens Of Truth, & Shard Of Agony. Those 2 theories feel very similar, and I like them.

At the absolute most, it'd be a measure of last resort that Dumbledore might say something like "if the worst happens and he asks you to step aside, you protecting Harry anyway will protect him better than you think". As much as it's emotionally appealing (like REALLY appealing) to think that Lily knew she was actually saving her son and didn't just think he was gonna die five seconds after she did, I don't think I can really accept this one. It's the kind of thing that if the author had intended it, it'd have to be shown or hinted at, because there's no way to deduce it from what we got.

As far as the last theory goes, it brings up an interesting thought. What if Flamel is a descended from Cadmus Peverell? This would imply a magical lineage of invention, and provide a possible blood link for Dumbledore to have been able to tie the stone to the mirror.

If you die under the influence of polyjuice potion, you don't transform back. This is explained in relations to Barty Crouch's wife when she dies in place of Bart Crouch Jr. and is buried still appearing as Barty Crouch Jr.

Why didn't Harry use the Invisibility Cloak when leaving the Dursleys? He could've walked out by himself in it without having others risking their lives. Or Moody comes with Kingsley, and those two with Harry take a Polyjuice potion, looking like the Dursleys and drive away a couple days before his birthday?

The worst part is that ChatGPT usually just searches the internet and uses whatever they can find to create an answer, indicating that some of these theories probably actually exist. PS: You should do Disney theories by Chat GPT next. I theorize that they'll confuse disney, pixar and dreamworks.

With the Flamell and Mirror of Erised theory, maybe he made the mirror first out of fun and curiosity, and then when he looked into the mirror, he saw himself making the Philosopher’s Stone (maybe not how to make it, but that he wanted to make it). Which would add some extra level to Dumbledore hiding the Stone in the Mirror.

I think you could argue that Dumbledore did know about the prophecy. Thus he may purposely let Voldemort know their location knowing that they would defend Harry and likely create the deffence that will allow Harry to grow up.
