Just because they miss one call? On RU-vid these bad calls are all over the place, but if you actually watch a baseball game this type of thing is very rare. The sports casters couldn't even tell until they looked at it from three different angles. Bad call, not necessarily bad umpires.

Love it. All four umpires blew it. They add on by ejecting the player they did wrong. Makes sense. They get away with screwing up and take the bat out of his hand. Seems logical.

Jake The training isn't going to make you get every call right. No umpire is going to get 100% of his calls right all year long, from Balls & Strikes to little plays like these. It's hard what these guys do. A 95 mph fastball reaches home plate faster than the time it takes you to blink, and they still have to make a call fast after the catcher catches it, or else it's a "delayed call" .

As an umpire we always try to get things right but sometimes that doesn't happen. Cabrera can get mad but come on, be a man about it, and go on just like Armando Galarraga did when the final call by umpire went against him for the "perfect game*" That was a class act - Cabrera's action is understood but could have been better handled by him. Oh Well, another incident for history stories.

At 0:38 and 0:43, the ball went off his shin. You see his pant leg move a little in the 2nd replay. It's important to get the call right. But not really a need for Miggy to go off like he did, being that they were down 7 runs in the 6th inning.

This is the one time I agree with Miguel Cabrera even though I hate him after shoving Austin Romine at home plate at Tiger Stadium back on August 24th 2017, Gary Sanchez did hit Miguel Cabrera after Austin Romine tackled him to the ground, so you know it was gonna turn even uglier between the two 24s aka Gary Sanchez and Miguel Cabrera, also if Tino Martinez was there, he would have Miggy’s head for doing what he did to Austin Romine even Michael Fulmer, also Tommy Kahnle is back on the Yankees and is like Andy Pettitte because he leaves the Yankees and comes back in the next couple of years, Tommy is now wearing Miguel Andujar’s number which is number 41 and now Anthony Rizzo is wearing Tommy Kahnle’s old number which is number 48, Giancarlo Stanton is wearing Joe Girardi and Austin Romine’s old number which is number 27, and Josh Donaldson is currently wearing Joe Girardi and Austin Romine’s old number which is number 28, and Gleyber Torres is wearing Joe Pepitone, Joe Girardi, Jason Giambi, and Mark Teixeira’s old number which is number 25.

storyofcory, I would call it a missed call, not a horribly ridiculous call. A ball that is fouled off the batters lower leg is very difficult for the plate umpire to see because his view is blocked by the batter. Unless another umpire can definitely see the ball hit the batter, the call stands, even though it was the wrong call. This is something that a video review should overturn though.

Miggy thought the ball was going foul so he didnt run. Tigers were losing badly and he just didnt put in the effort to run. Even if he did run he still would have been out at first base. He was just lazy. He thought the game was over anyways. Good job by Ian Kinsler though. Ian is a good baseball palyer.

Miggy wasn't being lazy, the ball hit his shin and changed directions, it was clearly a foul ball. The only people who didn't put in an effort were the umps, this was an easy call and they blew it.

JB, The base umpires, for some reason didn't see it hit his leg. The plate umpire was shielded by Cabrera. Not an easy call at all. These guys make hundreds of calls during a game and since they are human, they miss some. Maybe you should become an umpire and show us how it's done.

the thing of it is, ALL umpires/ officials think THEY are bigger than the game. they think that every call they make, is a correct call. and that's why all professional sports nowadays have some sort of instant replay review system. because, when it comes right down to it- umpires ARE human !!
