Ever seen a digger get hit with some snow foam? - guess there's a first for everything. In this episode, the Top Gear producers have got a filthy 1999 Caterpillar 307 Excavator for the Clean Team. Never ones to back down from a challenge Jack and Joe tackle this earth moving monster with all of their might. Multiple rounds of snow foam, jet washing, and scrubbing. Can the boys get this 7.9-tonne behemoth back in showroom shape?

@@Scoots1994 dunno if youve ever operated diggers as a full time job but trust me wax would not do anything , best thing for it is a pressure wash and some snow foam on the outside , basically exactly what they did , wax would just be a waste i recon , especially if its put in more clay like soil that shits the worst

On a piece of equipment like this, you can make your life much easier by extending the bucket out as far as possible and laying the arm as low to the ground as possible. Makes it much easier to clean.

Good god, this is even less cleanable than the tank :) And I just love that the interior is mud-colored so you don't have to worry about cleaning anyway. :)

what did the screen by the operator's feet do wrong? The process seems to be all wrong - why not pressure wash all the lumps off before messing around with detergent and snow foam? :)

You could have saved a lot of time by using a jet wash or steam cleaner. A pressure washer is not enough no matter how much snow foam you use.

Say that to 2700psi of pressure wash literally blasting paint off the body, or I can demonstrate it's paint stripping abilities on your car with the big boy, although my 1800psi will also do a grand job of stripping the paint. 😈 Also, you don't use snowfoam, you use heavy duty truckwash for stuff like this. 😎👍

@@MafiaboysWorld Yes, but that's not what they were using here near as I can tell, the pressure of yours is plenty though especially at a higher volume and with some good tips. I did industrial cleaning and hydroblasting for a few years and one of our winter jobs when it was slower was cleaning mining equipment for a local quarry and that's roughly the pressure we used, around 2500psi, that and a nice spinner tip plus some heat will cut through a lot more than what was on this little excavator...lol.

@@jordanstatler4661 Yeah, you know what I'm on about. I mean, fair enough if you're using a 1450psi or 1650psi, but once you reach that 1700+ range, you see the difference and then at 2700, you can turn it into a straight water cutter/engraver, no need for heat. 😂👍

@@just_some_internet_guy so they blasted all the lubricants off and didn't give it a full lube afterwards. Depreciated IMHO. As previously said, the dirt that was on it previously look as though someone had flung it on for effect. Hmmmmmmm suspicious

I clean equipment as part of my job. They didn't open any panels, clean the hydraulics, engine, or anything like that. Look in the pit and I promise it's full of oil and grease and dirt. If your gonna clean an excavator, at least clean the parts that people are working on. The interior detail was underwhelming too. Wanted to see how they tackled the forever dirty cab.

Mix your high strength soaps with your suds producers in a down stream injector cut it pretty high in ratios and then you won't need to use the ik sprayer and take 45 extra mins every time

I do this for a living, the best thing to help with the stuck on dirt is 4 thousand psi hot water 😂 they also didn't open the access doors or underneath access panels.. as for 8 hours we talking total or per person? If it's per person then 8 hours is definitely doable..

I watched on 2X speed to see the type of wax/protectants used after detailing. You spent 8 hrs and never got it cleaned. Stick to cars. I honestly hope this is your worst episode; very anticlimactic. Changing the format is fine, but this is not the way.
