Super nice set up glad you were able to keep the Karcher even after the last review on it.

Very nice setup exactly what I want, If you don’t mind sharing. How come you went with the MTM reel. I am leaning towards the COX reel just because of the swivel connection for the whip line. I only learned about the MTM from viewing your video and it seems like a good option and will save me a few bucks. Now I can’t make a decision lol. Thanks in advance.

Thanks! IMO the COX reel is a superior reel in terms of quality however it comes at 4x the price which I don’t think is necessary. Here is why I chose the MTM reel even though I can afford the COX. Affordable at CAD $99 Compact size to fit my space as the cox was too big. Matte black colour vs the blue. I could not source the black COX at the time. Like the idea of having everything brand matching even though the mtm reel is not exclusive. It’s a universal reel that has been sourced by mtm. They don’t actually make it. Those are the major reasons why I chose the mtm reel. Hope this helps! I also want to mention that the reel has held up amazing so far and I have zero issues and also I have no regrets so far!

I'm seriously looking into getting a similar setup. Do you think a 4ft whip line was too long or it's good? Do you think you would have gone with a 3ft? Also does the Kobrajet line thread right into the 50ft reel or did you need an adaptor to connect them? Thanks again for doing this review.
@DetailProjects
@DetailProjects 2 года назад
In my opinion the 4ft whip line was the perfect length on my setup, I feel 3ft is cutting it short, but again it depends on how you are planning on setting yours up. The Kobrajet line was a direct fit on the reel I didn’t need to modify anything to fit thankfully!

Nice setup! Can you share details or a link for your stainless steel braided hose? Does it need to be high pressure? Thanks!

Thanks! I got it from my local home hardware. It doesn’t need to be high pressure. Here is the link. www.homehardware.ca/en/36-stainless-steel-braided-hose-protector/p/5043340

Awesome set up! How were you able to mount the MTM hose reel to your wall? From what I saw, the bracket in the back doesn’t allow you to screw bolts directly into studs but I could be wrong

Thanks for sharing the setup; i wish i have hose bips setup in my garage like yours! Nice find on the wand holder - did you have to pay for shipping?

Thanks, I paid roughly $30 CAD for shipping costs for the wand holder and they shipped it through Canada Post.

excellent setup. Any view on using the 100ft pressure hose vs the 50ft with this pressure washer? thanks!
@DetailProjects
@DetailProjects 2 года назад
Thanks! 100ft hose setup would be ideal however the only thing to consider is the type of pressure washer will you be running with that setup as some cheaper electric pressure washers can’t hold the desired pressure with that long of a hose.

How did you get the reel to mount to the wall? Where can I get the hardware?

I mounted the hose reel to a wall stud and used wood screws. You can find them at any local hardware store.

Awesome video. Do you have the check valves just on the faucets? Or is there ones on the end of the stainless hose as well?
@DetailProjects
@DetailProjects 2 года назад
Thanks! I only have the check valves on the faucets reason being is the hose also doubles as my bucket filler so I wanted to have a QC coupler on the other end of the hose without the check valve to allow water to come though my hose without the need to connect a nozzle when doing this, it saves me an extra step, so I opted for the regular MTM SS garden hose QC instead.
@chrisheath3385
@chrisheath3385 2 года назад
@@DetailProjects ok that's what I thought. So if your power washer is all charged up and water is on can you still undo the hose to fill up a bucket? Or does it all leak out? Or do you just mean you use the bucket filler before you charge up the power washer.
@DetailProjects
@DetailProjects 2 года назад
Correct, I use the hose to fill the bucket first then I connect it to the pressure washer and turn it on.

Hey Detail Projects - Great video - love the close ups and details on dimensions. Do you think the 75ft Kobrajet hose would fit on the 50ft MTM hose reel? I'm tight on space too and trying to decide on reel size and hose length. Going with a similar K1700 cube, MTM setup. It looks like the 75ft hose may fit. How many wraps of hose do you have around that 50 ft reel? Thanks in advance, Joe
@DetailProjects
@DetailProjects 2 года назад
Thanks Joe! To be fully honest I haven’t tried the 75ft hose myself so I can’t make concrete claims and say that it will fit for sure, but based on what a see with my setup It looks like if you reel the hose in neatly you could potentially fit a 75ft. With my 50ft hose when I reel it in neatly I overlap 4 times if that makes sense, meaning my hose creates 4 rows on the reel, so it looks like there is room for more. Also weight wise I can’t see an issue either. Hope this helps and hope it works out for you.

@@DetailProjects Thanks for the quick reply. It's hard to say for sure but I'm gambling on it fitting if reeled in neatly. Ordered a killer DIY setup from Carzilla. Love it and hit a flash sale. Can't wait to install and use in the spring. Thanks again and good luck! Joe

Dude, $78.00 for a wand holder isnt exactly inexpensive.............but nice setup anyway, when you start piecing together everything it gets to the point of thinking maybe that pressure washer needs to just get hauled into/out of garage......lol

Do you think a 3FT whip from the pressure washer to the hose reel would have been sufficient?
@DetailProjects
@DetailProjects 2 года назад
3ft is not long enough for this application, it would add lots of tension.

Hey I was wondering about your choice of the 3.0 orfice vs the 2.0 for the 1700psi 1.2gpm. My setup is pretty much the same as yours and was thinking to get the mtm upgraded nozzles. When I do the calculations it says I should use 2.0 orfice. So just wonder which way to go. Thanks again for the inspiration for this setup. So cool👍
@DetailProjects
@DetailProjects Год назад
Thanks, happy you are enjoying your setup! You are correct in terms of calculations technically the 2.0 orfice is the correct size for the karcher to achieve the desired pressure and flow from the manufacture. The reason I went with the 3.0 is because I wanted to decrease the pressure to around 1200 psi and increase the water flow to about 1.4 gpm. Don’t quote me on the excact specs as I haven’t done any real world measurements, I’m just going by other people’s readings with those same specs. If you want to maintain the 1700psi I would suggest to go with the 2.0. If you want a bit less pressure go with 3.0. I wouldn’t go any higher or any lower though. Hope this helps
@jameschan1334
@jameschan1334 Год назад
@@DetailProjects awesome and your liking the more flow/gpm for car washes and detailing?
@DetailProjects
@DetailProjects Год назад
Honestly during winter I wish I had a bit more pressure sometimes as I find the 3.0 to be a bit weaker. But overall since I keep my vehicles clean I don’t need all the pressure.

What connection do you have going from the side of your karcher unit to the elbow? Is it the actual one that comes with Karcher? I’m using the actual one that came with the unit, but I have mtm’s garden hose and fittings that go to it but the adapter that came with karcher is leaking I bought an extra one and it leaks too, does mtm make a adapter that goes on the side of the unit?

It’s the connection that came with it. It does leak so I taped the threads and that solved that problem.
