Authorities revealed that the 18-year-old suspect legally purchased two AR-variant long guns within a week of his 18th birthday. #ABCNews #Uvalde #Texas #MassShooting
I have been following this story since it unfolded from the very beginning. I’m in my late forties, and a working professional from the Boston area. I don’t have kids, and this is the hardest thing for me to understand and make sense of it all. My heart goes out to the parents - single parents, dual parents that brought their children to school to drop them off for classes. I see the images as those young and innocent children cut down by a mad man, with yet another senseless tale of unnecessary violence & gunfire with automatic weapons. When is this going to end? Forget about whose to blame on the scene. From the police officers that immediately went into the building who the public finds out later was fabricated and not true, to the officer that is guarding both the main entrance of the school and walkway is now a ghost. While finger pointing continues, a quiet community is rocked and shaken by this senseless tragedy. When does this end. We as a society have a serious epidemic of senseless violence in America with these long barrel automatic weapons getting into the hands of minors, young teenagers, and those with mental health issues, and criminal records. President Biden, get off your ass and finally do something that no President has done before and end this madness. We need to end this by having Congress exact strict measures and laws implementing the banning of minors, teens, criminals from getting their hands on military assault weapons. There is absolutely no need for this. I don’t have to be a parent to be emotional and know that something needs to be done now. Stop finger pointing and blaming when the real problem is right in front of us all and needs to be addressed and finally stopped. End this epidemic now by stopping the root of the source. Even now as I rant, and venting my frustrations, another senseless act of violence just happened in Philadelphia where multiple gunmen opened fire into crowds of innocent citizens for no reason only to inflict mass casualties, violence, and chaos. We need to push our local selectmen, Mayors, Governors, Senators, and Congressmen and women across the United States to get involved now. President Biden & his Administration along with Congress and the House, all need to start communicating and finally working together to stop this unnecessary violence to finally stop be banning all military long barrel weapons from all, including minors, teenagers, those with criminal records. Our Government needs to make these laws priority to make it virtually impossible for civilians to purchase these weapons and any other handguns over the internet, gun shows, and on the street. We need to do our part now and make a difference do we can finally put a stop to this madness and end this once and for all so that innocent children and all citizens across the United States can feel safe and inclusive.
First of all there were no automatic weapons involved. Second there were no military assault weapons involved. Have you stopped to ask if the shooter was on mental health medication, was he being treated for ADHD, depression or psychotic behavior and if so what drugs was he on and where is his therapist ? Drugs like Xanas and Ritlin have proven suicidal and murderous ideation side effects proven in court in liability cases. You ask what has changed to make this happen: we drugged an entire generation with drugs that most of Europe has ruled are destructive and illegal to give to children under 18. You talk about the root cause but you aren't looking for the root cause, you're looking for an easy answer.
Before you ask yourself why, ask your self “Who gave him all that money, Resources to commence an attack on children” then you wonder who profits from taking Your assault weapons off the street, the government wins here… no weapons means more power and control of its citizens, if I lived there and was hearing gun shots and I had a m16 fully loaded bet your ass I’d fully load myself to fire back, or is running and hiding the American thing now?
Guess what moron, military wepaons, including long barrel guns are already pretty much banned for the gen pop without a special license and mountains of red tape. You clearly don't know your ass from a hole in the ground but you're going to come here a spew a lot of crap that you clearly know absolutely nothing about. Let me clue you in, idiot, an AR is NOT a military weapon and is not used by any military in the world. An AR is an Armor-Lite Rifle that has been in use by civilians since the very early 60s. The AR is typically chambered to either a .223 or a 5.56 which are the same ammo with the 5.56 having a little more pressure. It is no more dangerous than a .223 semi auto wood stock rifle that many use to hunt small game. In fact the .223 is banned for hunting deer in 7 states bc it is considered not powerful enough to bring down bigger game. It shoots at the same speed as a regular semi auto .223 wood stock rifle with the only two real differences is the fact that the .223 hunting rifle is more accurate and the AR LOOKS scary to wimps who are completely clueless but is no more dangerous than the .223 and the fact remains that a .45 semi auto handgun, and any number of other handguns and rifles are far more dangerous and deadly than the AR, but I guess we can't expect chicken 💩 pansies who don't know squat besides oh I'm scared of the big bad rifle bc it looks mean, to know that.
He sounds like he was a psychopath. Animal abuse is a major red flag. There’s no magic pill or therapy to cure psychopathy. We really need to educate people about it and how to recognize the signs. The real question is what do we do with these people in our society? I feel bad for them.
I’ve always thought about chilling with the “control” on drugs and funding so many prisons and agency’s that deal with drugs and work with mentally I’ll and have hospitals for the I’ll instead. Idk just feel like the war on drugs is a complete failure and we could kill 2 birds with one stone kinda deal
Turns out that no officer ever went in to the school. This whole situation is disgusting and my heart breaks for all who lost their lives and the families impacted
Matthew I totally agree with you. I see this as a multi faceted problem besides the officers waiting and a teacher propping open the door so the shooter could just walk in. Concerning the Uvalde massacre of precious children in Texas. This is becoming more frequent. I see many becoming mad, sad or Politicians trying to take advantage or the situation, but very few good idea's being talked about or implemented. Here is my two cents. First off I believe strongly about the 2nd Admendment and no one is taking my gun in a society where they are defunding the Police and taking gang units out by the defunding who were getting guns off the street, zero bail, Soros funded DA's letting out criminals early, not charging them for many of their crimes, and changing laws like theft to $950 before it's a crime to detour. How is this working out? Plus we had lock downs and job losses because of covid and before that riots that burned down businesses, creating more homeless, money problems and mental health problems and more. BUT we need to do something to protect our precious innocent children. When I was young this type of thing was rare. Why? Less population was one and open borders do not help. Also we did not have radicals on the internet trying to radicalize our children then. This needs to be monitored and safeguards by the parents at a minimum or State. If the parents or those in charge see worrisome behavior the parents need to act on it, and not just think their child is that innocent 8 year old they used to have. This is really caring for the child and society. So hold the parents responsible if they can prove the Parent knew and did nothing with a fine and or misdemeanor. We also did not have China giving us a virus and the Government and rich taking advantage of the situation at our expense. Also have you noticed that many of the school shootings were done by like 18 to 20 year olds? Make it illegal to own guns if under 21 unless you are in the Military which is under guidance and discipline. How about 2 armed guards at schools with a metal detector and one entrance? Many are complaining about Texas gun laws, but from my studies, most of the States with the most liberal gun laws have the lowest crimes from guns. And when crime is up over 50% in many Democrat run cities, I will not give up my guns to defend myself, loved ones and the innocent. If one has been convicted of a violent crime whether 16 or 60, make it illegal for them to own a gun. At least they are giving serial numbers now to ghost guns which can be traced, or give them 90 days to register or a fine and if used in a crime without being registered triple the fine and add a misdemeanor. Find ways to make it harder for criminals, young gang members and mentally ill to get guns. If school teachers want to take the training, let them carry and protect. To me these seem practical and not emotional. I came up with several others, but many have brought them up before by others. Just my 2 cents.
It's just Texas in general. They have weak gun laws which will result in high gun deaths. I live in Massachusetts, and the state has stricter gun laws which means less gun deaths. What Texas can do to prevent gun deaths is: Have Background Checks Ban On Assault Weapons Waiting Period Licensing

How could this happen? The same way as always. Everyone ignores all the signs and his care takers don’t have a freakin clue what’s happening with him. This is a perfect example of neglect, ignorance, apathy, and being naive. This is how it happened.
i mean an 18 year old mentally unstable felon with no ID was able to legally purchase firearms. Thats how this happened actually... sick people will always be but situations like this one are 100% preventable. No one in their right mind shoulda sold this kid a gun
Its amazing how everyone knows something but no one says a word until after the fact...and it wasn't just the authorities who failed to speak up..this tragedy should never have happened ..I can't imagine the horror and grief suffered by everyone in the Texas town and grade school...my heart goes out to them .
When you call and make a report police come out and say "well we cant do anything because he/she hasnt harmed anybody "yet"..So i guess just wait till somebody is harmed its Ridiculous
I find it hard to believe an 18-year-old boy could walk into a gun store and buy a Daniel Defense A-R rifle. Those things are $2500.00 each! Without a job to pay for it, why wouldn't he have chosen a cheaper model A-R rifle? There are much cheaper guns on the market. What does the gun store where he purchased them say about this?
He was known for fighting and threatening classmates and NO one questioned what could be wrong at home that makes this kid such a problem at school? We always know who the problem kids are, we never seek out WHY or try to help them, yet we're surprised when they snap and shoot up schools. What is it going to take for people to intervene BEFORE kids snap?

@@CharlotteStockton those laws wouldn't of stopped him from getting them illegally just as easy the real question I'd why did the police flee? I want to know more about: How An unemployed 18 yr old living with his grandmother with two Daniel defense AR15's , 400 rounds of speciality ammo, body Armour and have an F250 to drive - when according to other family members - he's never driven before doesn't have a license. Based on everyone's description of him and his behavior, I think he should've been supervised 24/7. He seems like the type of person incapable of sympathy or feeling anything. You'd have to be heartless to commit something like this.
Both parents are drug addicts and he was bullied at school for having a stutter. So the kids around him probably understood why he was a weirdo and didnt think anything off it.
From the accounts of his friends, seems like the authorities should have kept a keen eye on him and for the gun proprietors to sell him guns is despicable. Also it seems like the police in the US like to harass innocent citizens yet the weirdos like this guy gets freedom of the city :(
And that’s just it. There’s no law against crazy people. I work in law enforcement and the most violent and aggressive people have mental issues. You can control guns. You can control borders, but you can’t control Crazy.

Monitor all things and report anything that looks wrong to the authorities as quickly as possible. It's better to be safe than sorry. We are all connected. We are all responsible for each other's safety and well being. Be strong.....people.
How does a gunman walk into a school during school times? Our school system keeps all doors locked all day except arrival and dismissal times, with teachers or other employees stationed at each entrance during those times. Anyone wanting access during school hours must show ID to be allowed in. No one holding two AR-15s would be able to get in easily.
Can you imagine how devastating those parents felt going to pick up their children and cannot find them. My heartfelt sympathy for all the parents that lost their child. I felt your pain.

You can make a the laws you want but until ppl being better to each other and stop letting ourselves be so divided this will never stop.
The fact that he bought a firearm right after turning 18 shows he was waiting all this time and would've done it much earlier.. this is why people around him should've seen it coming.. All the signs were there..
If that’s the case, he waited til he turned 18 to ask permission from his parents since as long as the child has parental permission and the gun is legally given by an adult, there is no violation of the law. So then blame the parents because that’s the only way an 18 year old can possess one. Sounded good though.
What's interesting is that it appears he bought two...THAT's a lot of money for a high school student who probably never had a job..... I"m certain the gun shop owner who sold him these weapons will eventually be interviewed.
They said he legally purchased the guns, but then at the end of the video it said he was felon so he couldn't legally purchase the guns....? Or did I not hear that right...?
the statement was worded oddly, the grandfather who he lived with was a felon. therefore it's illegal for ANY guns to be in his house, even if he wasn't the one who owned them.
It's insane how the first police arrived in 3 minutes, but it took 77 minutes to go out of lockdown. The kids deserve an award for staying calm for 77 minutes of violence and insanity.
I lost my 19 year old in Feb 2022 and I am so sad I can not imagine what this will do to the parents and all. I am in more pain now then I was a day before. This is affecting me terribly!
Everyone is afraid of being "canceled" because of what they say, so guess what, no one says anything. They don't want to be labeled racist, homophobe, misogynistic, etc, etc, etc. THAT is the something that we're doing wrong.
Guns have always been around, but the rise of these types of mass murderers have increased in the last 20 years or so and seem to be growing by the year. This guy was an 18 year old cross dresser who killed his grandma, then the children, apparently because he wasn't going to graduate. We argue and bicker with left vs right talking points about guns, but nobody wants to mention that it seems we are growing in crazy. Why are we seeing such an increase in crazy?

@@CharlotteStockton being 18 has nothing to do with this incident ? Age of buying a weapon is not the reason this happened, it would have happened either way if the age was 21 or 25. That kid was showing “red flags” by his behavior. Family, friends and school counselors should have sought help to get him directed to counseling. Every community and schools need to pay attention.
@Pump wow, well gov Abbott is not releasing or requesting for the release of those funds. In TX , for kids to get counseling at school their mental health needs to directly and negatively impact their education. The counseling from school counselors only pertains to education. Teachers/school professionals in TX can’t recommend private counseling services to parents because of a loophole that if the school recommends a service that is not provided by the school that is needed by a student, the school district has to pay for the service. If the parents asks about private services, the school will provide lists because then they are NOT required to pay for the services when the parent initiates the topic -but many parents can’t afford, the money or time necessary because they’re usually a mess in need of major help too) If anyone in the school suggests private services in Texas, by law, they have to pay…it’s a huge no no. You can get fired. On that note, I’d love to also see Abbott and Cruz increase the funds for CPS as well. Foster parents are not well vettet and there aren’t enough case workers to make sure that foster parents are not abusing vulnerable children. These a hole foster parents don’t even go to jail, they just get another kid to mess up. make sure there are enough case workers and we’ll vetted superiors that are paid well enough not to take bribes from p€do rings and that their caseloads are manageable. Not all people should be parents. If I felt my child was a danger to themselves or others I would have reported it. Gotta be able to sense these things nowadays and all days I’m livid it even happened and I would take a bullet for my kids and other peoples kids as well🥲
