It's always good to see you Hans. Each of your video's is a masterpiece. It's also refreshing to know that the history of your finds are more important then any monetary value. I always think of the person who created it and the person who used it, how much different their world was to our own.

Nice finds, but I noticed some things I cannot help myself to correct :) I've watched all your videos and I'm afraid you use the word "hammered" in relation to your coin finds too liberally. I don't think your silver coin is a hammered one - it's not that era anymore (at least in Europe) and just look at the thickness of the flan and I can guarantee it's pretty regular throughout the circumference and has a good obverse/reverse alignment. Also it's not a "Mark" but it contains 1/240 part of a mark (a weight unit used in these times, 233.856 g) of pure silver giving it the denomination of 5 Kreuzer. As for the large pennies (and halfpennies and farthings) - I found a lot of them, but the Scottish soil is very corrosive and basically only silver (but still not always) and gold coins and artefacts can survive its effect on them. I miss detecting my native Silesian region of Poland with the sandy soils where you could find your Prussian Pfennings covered with nice brown patina looking as if they were lost yesterday. Unfortunately, the draconian law in Poland regarding metal detecting basically prevents me from pursuing my hobby there (you need a set of documents and permits, but even if you obtain these, your application is not guaranteed to be accepted, and since I live abroad it's basically impossible for me to sort it out).

By the way: I also find these 1 (& 2) pfennig coins a lot here in the most southern part of the Netherlands, now I know why they come out that good, because of the high quality bronze used. The OLD DOOR HINGE was similarly used in Australia for early settlers for the base hinge of iron pot holders over the fireplace...

Could have been a house or shed or gate in a fence. The smaller German penny would have been easier to carry around in a change purse or pocket than the larger British penny. For the user that would have been an advantage.

Subscribed, awesome coins you found, My brother and I just started detecting these past few months and always talk about how amazing it would be to detect in Germany. New York here so our history doesn't go as far back as Germany but we did find a lot of old coins recently and surprisingly a Finnish coin from 1873 in a place we couldn't understand how it got there.

That hinge his called a hook and band style of hinge, also used for Window shutters and stable doors. 👍

So glad you got a worthwhile find! My favorite though was the door hinge. I think about the life of that hinge and how on earth it got on that field. You know, we live in our houses, never thinking that a day might come when they're demolished and something else is put in their places. I would imagine that whoever lived in the house where that hinge was placed that they never imagined their house would be demolished and that single, forgettable hinge would one day end up buried in a non-descript field. Of course, I guess the hinge could have broken and needed to be replaced and the house still stands. Who knows? That's why objects like that are interesting to me. I want to know their story! Thanks for giving me my Friday trip to Germany. I look forward to my mini-trips!

Hallo, nun wie gesagt ich bin ein riesen Fan von deinen alten Filmen. Ich vermisse deine Zahnbürste ;-) und den Haufen Müll am Ende, der die Leute auf den Boden der Realität bringt was das Detekten angeht. Auch hattest du mehr Live Grabungen auch wenn da oft nur Müll zum Vorschein kam. Wenigstens einen solchen hattest du auch dieses mal dabei. Nicht vergessen du willst ja den Menschen das Detekten nahe bringen und nicht die Kunst schöne Videos zu machen. The pommel looks like the one that was lost from the roman dagger found recently in Switzerland. This was published by the Smithsonian. What a splendid artifact!
