Oh Shawn, I’ve rebuilt over 200 detectors in my 45 years working on pinsetters, instead of using needle nose pliers for removing springs, use the other long spring and a spring removal tool, much easier, hook selector is on the D shaft, and to avoid breaking your 1/16 punch, use 1/8 to knock roll pin 1/2 way on OOR bell crank, it was painful to watched this lol
The OG Brunswick scoring systems (even up to and including Frameworx, or as a buddy who had it in his center called it "Framedon'tworx" lol) used the "new pins solenoid" which put it on 2nd ball on a fill ball in the 10th or on a foul (only worked with detectors with rollers IIRC and not toes, I might have that backwards) and also on a no tap strike. My buddy has em still but they did look different than yours, just looked like a coat hanger bent around so it could pull the standing pins selector out lol. There was also the 44/144 microswitch with the scoring, as stated a microswitch and a plastic cam which told the scanner/camera to read at 44 degrees on 1st ball and 144 on 2nd ball. Yeah we had those 44/144 microswitches for our AS-90 scoring but didn’t need them once we got SYNC learned the absolute bear minimum about them. But thanks for reaching me something new and glad you enjoy the videos!
@@shawnmbowling Hey I'm glad I could expand your already vast knowledge! This to me is what it's all about, sharing info, methods, ideas, etc so we can all learn more! My downfall is I have trouble if it's not something I am interested in, but dang near literally living in a bowling center for 20+ years, the machines ALWAYS had my interest, I enjoyed learning as a bowler as well but the machines were always #1 to me :)
That’s exactly why I made this channel! Was to help expand other’s knowledge and mine as well. I think that’s why I’ve been doing this for 5 years was because it kept my interest
@@shawnmbowling I did it for close to 20 and I never lost my interest. I worked on AMF's for over 10 years, sadly back then video wasn't as easy to get, cell phones weren't cameras then heh. I never thought I'd touch a Brunswick but life decided otherwise, I was very excited to learn a completely different machine. Video was easier to get and I figured for my reference and more than anything to help people that needed it I would make some videos. I fell ill some years back and lost my mobility, I shut down from the world and was in a deep depression and when I finally came back I found that a LOT of ppl did enjoy and get help from what I did, and man what a way to turn depression around LOL. I'm not always the greatest with compliments but it means so much from me even if someone just says "thanks". Objective completed lol. Always something new and interesting to learn in a center, always SOMETHING to be done! :)
Absolutely, and I feel the same way with AMF not sure if I want to touch those lol kinda curious to see GSX’s but A, A-2, and Jetbacks have been my like and I love those old POS’ lol
Could you do a video focusing on the left and right blocking fingers? Specifically the mechanism used. I have a new trainee and I am trying to get him to understand the blocking fingers. The right one is what I am having a hard time describing the mechanism. Or maybe just lay out in bare layman terms regarding the right blocking finger mechanism. Thanks
I have a hard time with rights and lefts, 7 and 10 pins side is easier for me to understand. yeah I never thought of doing that but I will definitely do my homework to try and figure out the best way possible to explain the blocking fingers
@@shawnmbowling same with me. I prefer 10 side and 7 side. So I have him pretty down that 7 side blocking finger is controlled by the restricted drop link. And I just can't seem to simplify how the 10 side blocking finger is actuated. I appreciate any help
@@shawnmbowling hey quick question. The 10 side blocking finger on one of my lanes has a loose spring. Example...when the deck is up you can bounce the 10 side blocking finger up and down with your finger. Which leads me to suspect the spring needs replacing. I see where it hooks at the bottom but am unable to see where it connects up top. I have looked at the a2 manual and it doesn't give a lot of help. So reaching out to you. Any guidance would be appreciated. Btw. We haven't had any issues with the lane but I know eventually we will. Another question concerning the pin in the bracket that the restricted drop link hooks onto when the deck comes up...is there supposed to be a sleeve over the pin or no? I have found 3 lanes that were having 7 side blocking finger issues and the cause was the sleeve over the pin had deteriorated. So sleeve over pin or no? Thanks again
Ok so the 10 pin side blocking finger has a spring that hooks directly to the finger and then to the bottom of that flag looking thing between the fingers, then there’s another spring that hooks to the upper part of that flag all the way back to the lever that catches the turret long link. As for the restrictive drop link I’ve ran some machines with and without the sleeves. Eventually the sleeve wears so then I’d just put a new one on. Honestly depends on the machine. Other thing I’ve tried is making the slots in the link bigger but that’s kind of a pain
Just a quick question, for that hook selector, does it matter if that spacer is on there or not? Where the hook rod connects then the spring. Cause none of my hook selectors have that spacer on there for some reason. Also is it suppose to be spacer then rod? And then the auto out of range rest over that spacer? Thanks
I’ve had a couple without the spacer too, and it hasn’t affected it. But all the machines I’ve had the Auto OOR on without that spacer it doesn’t work, because exactly the hook grabs the spacer
