From what I see the new Minelab x-terra pro is definitely a Simplex killer and some. It looks like the x-terra can hang with the big dogs and for $269, that's UNBELIEVABLE
I have the xterra pro and the simplex ultra, and I truly feel the new simplex is way better. Vdis are way more stable on the simplex plus tone breaks and pitch adjustments
Getting my Simplex+ order is en route in the next few days . I like what im seeing will be a good addition to my AT Pro and MXT 300. And the black pulse pin pointer cant wait to use .Had the Whites TRX pin pointer was a killer till i lost it , using the Bounty Hunter pin pointer at this time but thinking it will be my back up pin pointer when it arrives . Great post .Keep at it subed
I would definitely buy a detector for $269.00 that can hit a dime at 14" and probably will. I think the Xterra Pro will also hurt the sales of the more expensive detectors because of this!
I saw the Notka press releases/videos and I wrote off demeanor as maybe business practices of the home country ----- Turkey I think. Anyhow --- good video and we share common thoughts.
I'm running a Legend right now but looking to pick up a backup detector.. either a Simplex or an Xterra Pro.. but I'm waiting for some guys to do some real in world testing before I make the decision. I love ML products but really do not like the company or the way they do business. They are more than willing to sell you 8 year old technology at new prices until someone comes along and forces their hand... or sell you a detector that has known issues (like water intrusion and snapping coil ears) for years on end without addressing the design problem. From watching other channels of guys actually hunting with the new Xterra it seems like it has some separation problems even with recovery speed all the way up (compared to the Simplex), but I do like the claim that it is stable on saltwater beaches. I'm not in a hurry so I will give it some time and see how the Xterra shakes out.
Minelab is part of Cordon multi Billion dollar Corporation! I had the Explorers years ago amazed how much was still in the ground in hammered spots! I’ve done very well with the Equinox 800! My newest detector is the Tarasacci MDT 8000 super depth and ID of Targets new technology!
Here's my take. I'm a legend owner and recently got my Xterra pro. The separation and recovery speed are not good and if you're a legend owner and are looking for a second Park machine this is not it and you will be disappointed. But if you're looking for a second machine for the beach only, this is where this machine shines. It's actually quieter than the legend in the saltwater and in the sand you don't need separation at all just sensitivity which it has. Plus it's a lot lighter than I expected which is a good thing and you can swing all day with it. So, if you do a lot of your detecting at the beach it's a great deal, but if it's at the park where you need separation wait for the new simplex ultra. Just my two cents.
I’ve been using my XTerra 705 as my primary machine for 12 years. Its paid for itself about 20 times over. I’m absolutely buying the new one when my DD coil breaks again. I go through a lot of coils.
No question minelab is the big dog in this fight but nokta is biting off more they can chew. Dont get me wrong nokta belongs in the same ring as minelab and xp but they also need to realize theyre not winning that fight by just selling detectors cheaper. Make a product that has new and better technology as their competition then they can talk. Fyi i just bought a Legend but far from a fanboy i like all detectors.
I just got my X-Terra Pro today. I have been a Whites guy for 15 years. Still love my MXT Pro. But this X-Terra Pro is unbelievable of what i saw in videos so far. I know it gets a lot deeper the MXT Pro and has a lot more options. The only bad thing i see and know is the built in battery will only last for a few years and then u have to send them into a Minelab technician to get a new battery installed. What's that gonna cost?? I guess i will find out when that happens. Hope it last for at least 6 years
Nokta claimed that minelab is basically bullying dealers into not dealing with nokta products I was shocked to hear this I don’t think that claim is true
@Treasure hunting New York yep they were crying because minelab is suing them for patent infringement. If nokta would grow up and just pay a license fee they wouldn't be getting sued.
Im on the list .! You still need to buy headphones? And I would not hold your breath on when they actually get shipped to USA. LIKE the manticore many are still waiting for them .
Craig, on both fronts: Economy will drive competitors. I knew competition would be fierce this year. And the manufacturers have learned one thing. A detectorist will pay for technology. Although, I believe ($1,600.) a thousand and six hundred dollars is the limit for any VLF machine; after all, what 'target' will any detectorist find with a VLF machine? Keep it real! Can slaw, bottle caps, nails? lol R O F L. On the other front the suit is at a stage each are testing the waters. In my opinion! Again, in my opinion there is only one machine that has the leading edge in technology. Manticore! How many countries are burning the midnight oil at this moment to manufacture a competitive detector? Before the snow flies in the late part of this year I expect the leading competitive software writer to establish their self as a formidable competitor: Nokta!
Quest had V80 & V60 which would have been Manticore, Equinox and Legend killers. Minelab goes to China to make X-Terra...question behind the scene deals? I will wait to see if it is as good as they say. Still be hard for me to buy made in China!
I don't think Nokta is in any trouble... You can buy 3 legends for the price of a Manticore.. thats an extra thousand bucks to get what ML itself states is an extra 2mm of depth. The Manticore will sell better with guys that have 20 detectors, an unlimited budget, and have to have the best the moment it comes out.. but the Legend is hands down the better value and will sell better to people who are buying their first SMF machine... which will likely be most of the market.
if nakto wants they could ruin the entire market for all companys they can just release the simplex with a new multi iq software and it will just be as good as any other high end detector its all in teh software depth and such is in coil design
I have the Xtp and it's a great machine.. don't know much about the Noctas, but I can't stand the sounds they make.. and to be honest, I wouldn't buy anything from them after watching the lady honcho making an idiot out of herself on live stream.. just saying 🤷
I agree with you the Women is nasty! During the tool out on Facebook she was totally unprofessional and started bashing Minelab from the beginning I called her out and the fanboys got their panties in a bunch!
