I’m back!! I got a chance yesterday to get out and do a short hunt at a local park! I , again used your step by step instructions and again I’m going to say thank you very much. It’s awesome to have resources to call on such as yourself and a few others, well a lot to call on!
I preordered one last week, got a message today it was shipping this week. Look forward to trying it out. My Manticore arrived today. It’s a great time to be in our hobby
I bought my Terra Pro yesterday and as soon as i saw videos on it i knew it was going to be a winner. I will use mine almost always on the beach . It makes you wonder if you need a machine 3 or 6 times the price with only a few extra settings . The Terra Pro may actually be just enough.
If a iron nail is 2 inches over a quarter x terra pro not going to see it yet the legend and other more expensive multy frequency detectors will see it. I accept that, not knokin it, 2 days ago I ordered a x from detector warehouse can't wait for it to get here.
Die hard Nokta fan here , or so I thought so . I was so impressed with the latest minelab offerings I bought the xterra pro and the nox 700 . The quality of Minelab has improved substantially since I bought the Vanquish.
Mike I just picked up the X-terra Pro from Cabelas today after watching this video.. Crazy value for $269 - Love the 100 segment spectrum. - Proper collapsible shaft.. Thanks man. Short and Sweet!
That is a helluva detector for the price for sure. Thank you for sharing, and for all the work you do to bring us the videos on all of the different detectors.
Really enjoy your videos. They are really comprehensive. Was saving to purchase the Legend but now I am seriously considering the X-Terra Pro, with money to spare!....Thanks a million!
Very nice video! I jumped on ordering an X-Terra Pro within 5 minutes of receiving an email that they were available at a particular dealer I was watching. It should be here on Friday. Minelab may have hit this one out of the park. I was considering a Simplex+, but according to all of the videos I've seen, there is no contest. X-Terra Pro wins hands-down. (I hate the tones of the Simplex+!) I also doubt that the Simplex Ultra will come close to the value and features of the X-Terra Pro. Nokta is not releasing any detailed info at this point on the new Simplex line.
Thx Surfer, great choice. I am not in the loop on the new Simplex features other than 5 levels of recovery speed which is great. I am with you though on the tones.
Have you been able to use your new X Terra? How did your hunt go with it, if you received it! I’ve called emailed text bla bla all kinds of stores and people can’t locate any only offering me to order and wait!! Lol
I have had 2 x terra 705 and loved how stable and quiet they were! A great machine for sure! I might get one to use when I don’t want to listen to the Deus2 talking! Good luck! It’s the machine I am recommending to all I know.
I have the minelab X-Terra Pro ordered, and is suppose to be here Friday. You did a very good job telling about the feature of the x-terra pro. Thanks.
@@ronalddvorak1967 I ordered from treasure coast metal detectors. Said one was available, but I don't know if that was just one more spot on the pre-ordere list
Looks like a great machine, makes me wonder if Nokta will make additional changes to the new simplex tech or what kind of updates they will do on it to compete a little more with the xterra
@Iffy Signals my birthday is at 18th of April and my kids bought xtp for me and I'm not allowed to even open the box before then. Kids can be cruel sometimes 😪
@@draganakrapovic7588 thats awesome! What a present. I have three kids, and I had to add mine and my wife’s birthdays into there phones as reminders haha.
Very nice video, I am looking forward to vanquish 540 vs X-Terra Pro comparison in all terrains (beach etc.) if possible and as many conductors and depths you can.
There’s 3 guys I watch for most part yourself, John calabash and teacher Brian southern relics, why you’re honest, I believe you’re the only certified minelab tester. I get x terra Thursday , it’s price is always mentioned however it’s the performance I see that’s remarkable, the manticore and do deus 2 r better performing however I can’t justify the price considering everything, oh and we do detect here in Pennsylvania rather serious at times, thankyou
Thanks Scrap Iron 👍 you will like the xterra, its ID can be bouncy when not in clean ground or the target it deep but i like running it in a two tone program for a dig/don’t dig audio. I just bought the coiltek 10x5 that will work on it as well for the woods.
This is going to sell like hot cakes at this bargain price, £299.00 here in Uk 🇬🇧 love the tones in this machine, very clean sounding, great review 🥳🥳🥳
Thanks for the recent batch of X-Terra Pro videos - I have one on the way, so they're really helpful. QUESTION: how did you setup your little demo/testing area? I think it would make a great video, and I'd love to see how you put it together. Also, I will be teaching local Veterans how to metal detect, and a simulation 'field/park' setup would be really handy for them to learn in a controlled, non-trash scenario. Thanks again for the great videos!
Hi, i just took items and buried them at certain depths. I used the Equinox 800 for most of them with high sensitivity to make it difficult and others with with Deus 2 and Manticore. Some are near iron because i did not clean out the area to keep it as a real as possible. I used plastic pipe markers and plastic garden stakes.
Hello! Great and useful vid! Can you, please, suggest me,what settings to use as a begginer without experience ? (my first detector). I want to dig for everything in places like plains and forests. Thanks a lot!
Congrats and Great first machine! I would stick with Park, sensitivity 18-20, recovery 2. Best advice would be to go to a couple of parks and dig allot of coins, pull tabs, bottlecaps, hopefully a ring 😉.. get used to the numbers.
@IffySignals Just wondering if that's the case, how bad would be to hunt in that mode frequently? Maybe they discriminate too much out. I don't know. Just getting your thoughts on that.
@@rickrogers728 its very stable on the beach and good for relic hunting as well. Not as good as a machine running a high freq. Higher freqs for me have always performed better in the iron but it does a good job.
Oh man this is very good. I really like this detector. But man How much more will they put out in the next yr. I mean will they have updates for the Nox 700/900? I know they will not be updating the 600 and 800 any more. But will even this detector get updates over the yr to come.. ?
Great review of the Xterra pro. How does the swing weight compare to the 540 though? One reason I got rid of my vanquish 540 is the 12-in coil was just too nose heavy for my liking and this one looks like it has the same exact coil but it looks like a great unit for the price and I'd buy it if it's swung a little lighter than the 540. Nokta has some work to do on the new simplex coming out if they want to compete with this.
Hey Steve, its nice. Feels better than the 600/800. They used the same layout on the new 700/900 and Manticore. I know what you mean, the 12” was a beast on the 540. My favorite for the 540 was the 10” which will be available for the xterra as well.
Interesting video, well recently got the x-terra pro my self , but still trying to understand what settings to set up while hunting on clay soil while going for silver.
If just Silver you can stick with a low freq of 5 or 10. Most likely 10 will stay the most stable for you and still be good at smaller goodies. If the ground is clean and not noisy recovery 1 and speed up if needed. Sensitivity will be based off emi on how high you can run it. Good luck.
You don’t have to, on the ML’s is optimal but if you notice ground noise when you raise or lower the coil then do a GB, it definitely does not hurt to do it on every hunt.
This machine looks fantastic, I own a Simplex and love it. For me the fact that it doesnt come with headphones is probably a dealbreaker, so add $140 onto the price and I dont personally hunt with anyone that wants to hunt a trashy park with a 12" coil, so factor another coil on as well.. that said I am intrigued, time will tell!
@@IffySignals tried it on 2 local beaches today and seemed better on beach 2,only found a few £,but quite good, had to turn up to volume 25 ,as quiet, but will get headphones soon, thanks
Yea, it works fine at 8 as well, 15 is what I use. I picked up the coiltek 10x5 and its good in the woods. Will call big iron a good target though. No iron bias to help with that.
I have the Legend with 3 coils. I love it & have found some awesome stuff with it. My question is if you already have the Legend would the X-Terra Pro be a upgrade or downgrade? Or I could keep my Legend and get the X-Terra Pro as my backup or use it over areas I’ve already hunted with my Legend. I also have the Simplex, but the Legend blows it out of the water. I’m not bashing the Simplex tho. My thought is I could keep the Legend sell my Simplex & then buy the X-Terra Pro. Idk
Your Legend is full multi freq and has allot more adjustment with tones, iron filters, recovery speed ect... XTERRA has a wider VDI scale, and great tones but would not be an upgrade from the features you have packed into the Legend.
I have a question…I was in an area where they have outdoor parties and using the xterra and every swing was a jumble of numbers most of the time. Does that mean there is just a ton of metal in the ground? I had the sensitivity at 23 and kept going lower and lower hoping that would help. I noise cancelled and ground balanced. Any help would be great. Thx!
Yes, could be loaded with targets. Try it with a low sensitivity outside (even air testing) away from emi and put some targets in front of it. Hopefully the site was just loaded and not a bad coil.
@@IffySignals thanks for the reply. I’m pretty new to this and previously just used a tracker 4 so there are a lot more options on this than I know what to do with. I didn’t know a faulty coil was even a possibility. I’ll test it with targets. Thanks!
The Minelab X-Terra Pro is very similar in air test depth as the Nokta Simplex, I'm sure the detection circuit is the same with the higher priced Equinox and Manticore models, if we the hidden service code menu for technicians, like televisions we could tweak up the sensitivity perimeters to 35 like the Manticore. Don't expect MinLab to offer a firmware update with a higher sensitivity as it would kill the sales of their Equinox Manticore. I would never spend more than $300 for metal detector, it's only a little box with one circuit board and a coil of wire, give me a break :-). This machine is awesome, why pay more!
@Iffy Signals yes my Vanquish is getting used. My parks are trashed and that 6-inch coil is really great. Now have one at home for the Equinox 700. The Xterra pro looks promising thought.
ML Headphones, You could also use any wired HPs or grab a Low Latency transmitter from Amazon and use LL BT headphones. With the transmitter the 600/800 headphones will work.
Just a quick question.. I understand how to ground balance this machine, but when I have it in beach settings, the ground balance settings don't change no matter what I do, but only in the beach modes.. is this normal? It seems to be stuck on zero..
Hi Steve, that is normal for the beach mode. It is setup to handle the wet salt where the other modes are setup for land. You may have some fluctuation depending on the minerals in the beach sand or in the wet salt.
@@IffySignals I appreciate your response.. I called a minelab dealer and asked them the same question, and they didn't have an answer for me, so, thanks again 👍
@@IffySignals Might be good for combining pinpointing into one motion... they say if you can avoid doing the extra pinpointing step you'll be able to cover/dig twice the area/targets :)
Super Movie. Dude, how to set x terra pro when it gives every step phantom signals for color from 90 and up. I changed the frequency, not much helped, only pomagolo reduction of strength to 19-20. Best regards.
I got a question? If I have a Nox800 why would I get a Xterra pro does it do more then a 800 ? And is it better ? And yes u can use the NOX coils on the Xterra pro . Just watch a RU-vid video of someone use a 6” nox coil on a Xterra pro . It’s great for beginners and good for a first machine and great price point . Thanks .
Thanks , that’s what I thought . It’s great for someone new to the hobby or a first machine and great price point . To me it looks like they copied alittle from the Whites and Nokta Makro Multi Kruzer and put it in a Nox Box’s . Multi Kruzer had 5-10-15 single frequencies . I told Nokta detectors to bring back the Multi Kruzer call it MKP multi Kruzer Plus or MK2 multi Kruzer 2 5-10-15 single frequencies and put it in a simplex box and shaft and components and sell it for 299.99 and then have a updated multi frequency with 3 single frequencies . Cause coming out with a single frequency machine is not enough now . I’m just trying to keep everyone honest . I got all makes and models . Garrett, whites , Nokta , Minelab , etc . All makes and models serve a purpose . Thanks again
This is not a "castrated" Equinox. It is a single frequency part of the Equinox but with uniques features and an optimized machine for a classic single freq. In fact, even if u put a single frequency on the nox...you won`t have an X-Terra pro. Don't judge the book by its cover. All ML models are different metal detectors.
@@IffySignals yes on performance not cosmetic speaking, I only ask you because I believe you are a very knowledgeable person, not you but I get tired of people using cosmetic and warranty etc for performance its not thank-you
Iffy my xterra is acting odd i am getting a ton of false high tone signals. On the bench it airtests great 8f i wiggle the machine its stable but once swingin g over the ground. A ton of falsing but high tones not iron tone i check the same area with my legend and i dod get a couple ferrous tones. But not a ton of hifh falsing any ideas??? Thanks
Not sure ice, is it inly at some locations? Maybe try dropping the sensitivity a bit. With it being a single frequency machine that could cause some frustration depending on site conditions. The Legend runs multi so it should handle a wide range of soil conditions with ease.
Hi, I got my terra last week and went on my first proper dig at the weekend, I'm having an issue where by the machine just doesn't seem very stable, there's tones and the vdi umbers jump around on every swing, do you have any idea what could cause this, machine has been noise cancelled and ground balanced
Hi Liam, it VDI has a wide range of -16 - 99 so it does bounce at depth or not a clean hole, it should zero in nicely is you swing tightly over it if its a clean hole.
@@IffySignals I can get it to zero in but after watching many videos I've noticed that everyone's machines seem to be nice and quiet till they find a target whereas mine just seems to make noise as I'm swinging
Welcome to the hobby Liam, targets can definitely bounce around depending on soil conditions, depth, contamination in the ground with the target ect.. try and stick by tone and vdi as a second reference. Good luck 👍
Including iron? You can set your lower ferrous break to -12 and most everything will come in with a good tone. -8 will knock out more and -4 is stock and will give most ferrous an iron tone. Using two tone will help for relic hunting with a recovery speed of 2 or 3.
Hi aarron, that is normal whatever you remove will be discriminated out unless you hit the horseshoe then it will give an iron tone. If i am understanding you correctly.
