@@CaveJohns0n the ram lost like a mf, the motor cut out on the deuce, the ram kept pulling, and a soon as the deuce's engine got started again, it was light work. the deuce is heavier, has more torque, more traction, and a bigger engine.
@@TheAttacker732 Very true, but for the engine it depends on what it has.The M35A2 most of the time had the LDT-465 or LDS-465,both are 7.8L. The LDT-465 is the one that makes 135 HP/330 TQ but the LDS-465 produces 175 HP/447 TQ. The 6.6L 3116 in the M35A3 only has 170 HP/404 TQ.
@@TheAttacker732 The torque of the engine doesn't matter as much as torque at the wheel. The deuce likely has a ton of reduction and likely easily makes double what the Cummins makes at the wheel. It'll pull a house and the basement along with it.
First off, its Cummins my friend. Second, the guy in the ram is quite the sore loser in this one. Damn deuce kept dragging the cummins like a little bout to have his ass beat. Kinda funny that the ram attempted to win when the duece stalled, but the deuce still won.
Drove a Deuce and 1/2 in Germany back in the 60's Was multifuel -would burn damn near anything for fuel. Looked to me like the dude in the Cummin's was a sore loser.
Funny thing is, the deuce doesn't make that much power. All about the gearing and traction... add some more weight to it and it would have more easily drug that Ram anywhere it wanted.
Whoda Hellru. Mine makes a whopping 165HP. Granted it makes 840Tq. Add that with 6 wheel drive, 13k lbs with the bed on, and 6:42 gears you can’t stop them. Only down side is the 55 mph top speed in factory configuration. Granted who wants to go faster than that in one of these old girls
@@the_dre_wayy9204 No 7.8L Multi-Fuel has "840" lbs of torque. LDT-465:135 HP/330 TQ LDS-465:175 HP/447 TQ LT-465:168 HP/445 TQ And the 3116 in the M35A3 is only 170 HP/404 TQ.
+Drew Tibert I agree, that was a no contest. That M35(A1?, A2?) likely had bald tires to boot! (I've never seen one that didn't) Just imagine if he had aftermarket tires?
@@circiequisling4313 This is a M35A2,not a M35A1.The M35A1 is from 1961-1966 and had a LDT-427.The M35A2 all have a LDS-465,LDT-465,or LT-465 and is for 1966-1988.The difference is the air intake manifolds.
Boy this one looks BAD for the dodge! They are to far off on being close to the same weight, the Deuce has to many tires on it so no weight on the rummer, the tires on the deuce are NDT (non directional military) meaning they do good at NOTHING. The Deuce is not posi on any axle and last but certainly NOT least the Deuce has a obviously dodge killing 134 HP Multi-fuel diesel, certainly not the high tech Cummins of today. I have to say this was a match that the dodge by every rights should have walked away with, I do know that a GM or a Ford would have pulled that Deuce all over the place. The dodge has a great engine (Cummins) the automatics now have great transmissions (General motors) Great running gear (dana) it just must be the name Dodge??
Look at the angle of the tow strap. The harder the pickup pulls, the more it pushes the Deuce's rear end into the ground. The harder the pickup pulls, the more traction the Deuce gets.
@@bengrosser8722 Rockwell never built Lockers, they use Detroit lockers.Rockwell use to make air activated lockers for Oshkosh and Kovatch firetrucks while only 250 of them were ever manufactured. But they never ever made a locker for a deuce & a half or any other truck for that matter. On all of these trucks including the five ton trucks, the axles are the only thing from Rockwell. And they are not locked "all the time",these trucks have rear lockers and you can engage for 6×6,all of them have open front axles though.Basically it's 4×6,and not 6×4 or AWD.
You have no idea on anything to do with weight or gear ratio. It being from Dodge has absolutely nothing to do with it.Any F250-F550 with a Powerstroke,G.M. 2500-3500 with a Duramax,or Dodge 2500-3500 with a Cummins will always get dragged by a outdated deuce and a half.
The name of the game in tug of war is traction, in this case the deuce didn't have any weight over it's drive axles also the Deuce's drive tires were bald, now if the Deuce had weight over the drive axles and had drive tires with good tread, this tug of war would have turned out differently, all of the horsepower in the world won't do you any good if you can't get it to the ground.
Shouldn't run gas. I think they came with a list in order of what is best to run in them and the only thing worse than gas was alcohol. They are still a diesel engine, so they need a lubricating fuel like oil or a higher sulfur content diesel to run right. It's just got an extremely robust fuel and injection system that can handle about anything.
The non-directional tires are shit, either ways the deuce would stomp it, this deuce has no bed and non directional tires and beat it. This would be worst if it had super singles and a bed
Duce=Big hunk of american steel thats a real workhorse dodge= sad excuse fir a truck probly made out of recycled coke cans America god dammit America. The turbo on that duce is amwsome those things were so under powered and it still won that dodge has god knows how many times more torque duces for life
That m35a2 deuce and a half has beat a cummins. M35a2 Deuce and a halfs are considered the most badass military trucks ever!!! Good job on the video bud
@@Slim_Slid The problem is that 5 tons are more likely to require a CDL, based on weight & payload. For instance, in Ohio, if a vehicle and its max rated payload is 26,001+ lbs, I need a CDL to use public roads. The Deuces, rated for 5 tons *on road,* count as a ~23,500lb vehicle in my state. The laws are a nuisance, and the tickets are expensive.
@@TheAttacker732 Well, you live in Ohio.I live in Texas,I do have a CDL anyways, but you don't need one to register any 2 1/2 Ton or 5 Ton trucks. If it is for hire or commercially in usage, that's a different story. But you can still take ownership of one much like a mobile home, even with the factor that they have air brakes.
@@Slim_Slid Yeah, Ohio has the same basic for-hire provisions. Also air brakes don't seem to have an impact on classification here either. That being said, I'm fairly sure I can register a 5 ton without a license, even get a plate & tags issued, but if I get pulled over, I'm effectively driving without a license. And that's a pretty big ticket. So, the state will absolutely let me pay for something I can't actually use.
Dont look like they know how to drive. LOW GEAR SLOW CLUTCH RELEASE. Cummings is a good motor but so is the international. BOttom line is they dont make trucks like they used to. Hell i pulled a dump truck out of a ditch one time with my 1992 chevrolet z71.
@@boy_scouts_for_life6803 No deuce & a half has a Cummins unless someone engine swapped it.From 1961-1988,they are all Multi-Fuel.The M35A3 for 1993-1999 used Caterpillar.
It's never hard to jump on some research and see that a M35A1-M35A2 NEVER had a Cummins, they are ALL Multi-Fuel.The M35A3 however had Caterpillars. The deuces before all of them used gasoline engines.
I use a M35-A3 duece single tire for feeding cattle it carries 6000# of feed with skidder chains on like a beast had snow up to the bumper many times have to back up several times but that girl will chew through it nothing sounds better then that cat whistling turbo.
