Old Unatco Theme starts playing when you enter Sariff's room for the first time. I didn't put much thought to it on my first playthrough, but in fact things like this show how much respect Human Revolution developers have to Deus Ex. And things like this one make HR a perfect (minus boss battles) prequel.

It's funny because this is quite clearly game play leading up to the music, and a good bit after as well. Listening to this track while riding to and from work is actually relaxing with the door swishes, the alarm, entering numbers in the keypad, etc. I guess it's just the familiarity of the sounds that are comforting.
10 seconds earlier, dude, 2:49 that was the Unatco cue, that is where the chills begin. 3:00 is the generic Hans Zimmer surging sound that got very popular after the Batman movies.
I have no idea what you're on about. It's a cool unexpected surging chord change that works perfectly, and in no way coined by Zimmer. What Zimmer coined was the deep brass THWAAAAAAAAAP
I remember checking some apartments (if you can call those boxes with a bed and a curtain apartments) and some radio ingame was playing this. Then the part at 2:50 came along and I was paralyzed for a couple mins being entranced by both the nostalgia and the good music.
***** You should give it a try : o) I played the first one after finishing HR(My brother had the first one back in the days but I didn't get into it at the time) There's some nice mods arround to enhance graphic/sound for modern machines. Try to at least finish the first mission, and you'll see that the game is pure awesome !
***** I almost couldn't play it at first; it just looked like a bunch of crude polygons. The level design, story and music all get really engrossing after a little while, though.
Brendan2981 dont get me wrong, Im a huge Human Revolution fan; but compared to the original deus ex, even HR is super simplistic, dumbed down and narrow.
+xZippy38 somehow classic games are better. You know imagine that shakespear wrote the poem and then someone wrote a fan fiction. So newer games developed using purchased franchise are mostly dumb, primitive and distasteful like fuck. Newer tech yes, better gfx yes. Idea? Plot? Atmosphere? Originality? Nuh. no fucking way. If they made a PORT with some limited renewal it would be right thing to do. Younger generation didn't play the old ones anyways. So what the problem porting? But no they produce something.... rotten born using same name
Honestly this game has the best opening I've ever seen! The introduction to Sarif Industries. was perfect. The character introduction right at point. This games a timeless classic.
@@gamewojtek For me personally it wasn't too disappointing but that could be because I don't remember much about the middle to the end very well or I didn't play deus ex 2000
2:50 At that moment, I just remember walking into Manderly's office and feeling safe, surrounded by people who were not only my fellow workers, but friends. And I remember how it didn't last.
I always felt like the whole world of Deus Ex was hostile... especially UNATCO HQ. The gun trader guy's hideout felt the safest I think... second would be Tracer Tong's lab.
@@TheSolidlad For me the safest area was the small bunker outside Unatco HQ. Always came back to it when I could, had some goodies in there and there wasn't anyone.
I just finished DE:HR an hour ago. Since that, I've been listening to OST and contemplating which ending should I go with. What an epic game. Worth it's predecessor.

I actually really like the sound effects. It adds to the atmosphere, I feel like I'm actually in the game when I listen to this. It's almost like being transported into another world instead of just listening to the song
I got chills when I heard that bit of the old Unatco theme during the intro....most emotional ive been about a game for a long time. brought back so many good memories
When the original UNATCO theme played I was reminded as to how much I wanted the game to be like the original, I learned to be fine with Human Revolution now, but it was a bittersweet moment for me back then.
at some point the timeline of Human Revolution will catch up to the first Deus Ex. Lets say after Mankind Divided. Imagine the game after Mankind Divided will be a full remake of the first Deus Ex! It would make so much sense and would be amazing.
The original Deus Ex can never truly be remade considering the original developers tried and failed. Human Revolution came very close (the music and graphics are better though) but something magical piece is missing. Hopefully Mankind Divided does even better.
There's a lot of things to happen before 2052. Illuminati loses power between 2030-2035 (remember the raid on templars commanded by Manderley?), India-Pakistan nuclear war, civil war in USA, JC Denton born in 2029....
Ah the music is perfectly put there at 2:50 not only for the meeting with David Sarif but also to suddenly make any original Deus Ex fan get goosebumps and have memories flooding in. I feel that was such a good mix of game and music.
I am not a gamer but I found someone mentioning about 'Deus Ex Human Revolution' soundtracks in the comment thread while I was listening to some ambient music. Must say that without even playing the game, the music has so depth to it! I finished the whole OST. Can anyone pls recommend me some more? My appetite for such music has multiplied in last couple of hours

+emask8ordie hey it´s better to wait six months and get a polished, very well done game on it´s full potential than get it 6 months early and it being unfinished and a half-assed disappointment.
Halo was revolutionary in that it was widely considered the first game to have a tactical 2 weapon system. Cod is just a poorly done mashup of established combat mechanics and action tropes.
I bought this game maybe half a year ago, and I had never quite played any real stealth-based games. But as it turned out, this was just the game I needed to get right then, because it was so refreshing ... the great gameplay, story and of course soundtrack! I played it pretty much non-stop without changing game, and almost finished it twice! ... One of the best games in my collection. When they release their next Deus Ex, I'll sure get my hands on a copy of that.
Memories... Janice giving me my office login... Walking into the women's bathroom (on purpose)... Gunther complaining about lemon-lime soda... Going to Manderley's office during the post-MJ12 escape and throwing a grenade into the room before I enter it...
@MrNightLP Yeah, in one of the offices in the police station the 2 guys are talking and the one asks if the other had ever seen Robocop. Then, "Officer Deckard please report to the front desk. Officer Deckard" was an amazing reference too. The game is filled with so many little details, like the broadcast of the Tigers game in Sarif's office, that you have to just stop and absorb everything going on around you. Doing 2nd playthrough, and the story is really different with new details.
I miss this world, the tension, the atmosphere, the feeling of impending doom, the smoke and mirrors of shadow organizations. I want to get lost in a world like this again and hopefully next time, online with others who I can share the experience with. I hope there has been development on a new title...It's time.
@@okbro3524 Ya foreal Mankind Divided could have went some real crazy places. Even still, Human Revolution was just so dam good. I would legit play another game that looked like that even with 2016 graphics.
@@okbro3524 human revolution lacked a lot of the depth that made the first game both unique and one of the best games ever made, let's not gaslight ourselves here.
@dapiridoob Graphics are not the only things in games, the game physics development is also being held back. Also just the raw processing power to get more objects and entity's on the screen.
Actually, in DX1, nano-augmentations are still in the trial stages. The only characters who have it in the game are the Denton brothers, Walton Simons, and Bob Page. The general public still only has mechanical augs available.
@LinktheHylianHero No, they are from the games intro. You can mute voices separately, so only the in game SFX such as walking/doors/elevators are left, as well as the music of course.
It's so good to see that also many other people had shivers down the spine listening to this sountrack. I quite cried as I listened to the UNATCO theme as you enter in Sarif's office for the first time.
@iopunderstealth @tetracycloide You're both right, actually. It begins in the lift on the way up, where you share a moment with Megan, 1:40ish is where she begins to say she was sorry, 2:03 is where Prichard joins you, 2:50 you enter Sarifs office.
Being a soldier isn't just following orders, it's following those orders in the service of a higher cause. When that cause is betrayed, we're not soldiers anymore, just pieces on a chess board dying for the wrong reason.
@Petematrix I'm pretty sure some of those sound effects are supposed to be in there for effect. They wouldn't play this exact track in the game, but on the soundtrack maybe. There would be much more 'sound effects' if this was recorded from in-game. It's all supposed to be there.
