For me it's better when you remember that Neo is a program that learned to be human and is controlling a human body. Deus Ex literally had one of his own subjects walk up to him and say "Listen, you're a fucking Tool. Now let me clean up this mess and in return you leave the humans alone."

@@AJitati0n The Matrix has parallels to Gnostic Christianity. There is, if I remember correctly, a group that similarly thought that Judas was of extreme importance because jesus needed to be betrayed to make the sacrifice. That is, to fulfill his role as the Lamb, he had to have to other actors play their parts. So, Judas, in this light, wasn't the evil person, but, a necessary actor in the story. Trinity can be viewed the same way then. She played her role in getting Neo to make his sacrifice. I believe this is in the Gospel of Judas but I can't quite remember

I think Neo's response, "I won't" when Deus Ex Machina asks, "and if you fail?" is a rejoinder to The Architect saying, "we won't" after Neo says "if I were you, I'd hope we don't meet again" - Deus Ex Machina even smirks at the irony of the reposte.

"It is done." is a quote from the Bible, from either John 19:30 (depending on the translation "done" or "finished") Jesus' last words, or from Revelations 21.6 said by a figure on a throne who can be identified as Jesus resurrected. Both quotes could be interpreted as Jesus saying that the old ways of Hebrew sacrifice are over, that the final sacrifice has been made, and a new way of worship will commence. This fits with Neo being held up as though on a crucifix by the machines, that Neo's sacrifice will mark a new understanding between machines and humans. Great vid as always.
@SamGarcia
@SamGarcia 3 года назад
People keep guessing what the "It" means in "It is finished", but reading the context, it just means His death, or that His human life was finished. That's all that means, anything spiritualized is inserted, but not actually in the text strictly.
@boedye
@boedye 3 года назад
Theologian here: "It" is in reference to the finalization of the Mosaic Covenantal system of Law that Jesus (God Incarnate) fulfilled by being placed up on the cross (which is WAY too long to sum up here!). The short answer is that the reference to "It is finished" or "Done" means that the previous Covenant had been fulfilled and the new Covenant (or order) commences. It's a transitional statement.
@SamGarcia
@SamGarcia 3 года назад
@@boedye Unless you can actually show the text or verse that says that it is finished actually has anything to do with the covenant, the immediate context of the verse just means His death. If one reads Hebrews, it is when Christ spreads the blood on the mercy seat AFTER it is finished that matters for the new testament of blood (not to be confused with the new covenant, which many people do), and since Jesus did not yet ascend to the Father immediately in the resurrection, it took longer than three days.
@boedye

@@SamGarcia I already stated that I'm not going to get into it, as it is way too long to sum up here. That being said, yes, Hebrews is a good place to start in understanding what "it is finished" refers to. That being said, what do you suppose was "finished"?

Yes, but the key to what Morpheus said there is the meaning he was using for Singular. He didn't mean that Singular("ONE") consciousness copied itself onto all the duplicate machines in the race. He was referencing The Singularity - a common science term referring to when a technology is advanced enough to become Self Aware, with the expected next step that it would expect to be treated as an individual, and no longer the property of its creator or creators' race.

Without the humans the machine world would collapse. No sun means no energy, no power. Seeing the situation for what it is and humanity cannot no longer live on the surface of earth its only logical for people to continue living their life out in the matrix oblivious of the outside world. I hate thinking like that because I'm a survivalist and someone who will fight if push comes to shove, however in Neos case what's done is done, there's no real life to be lived down by the earths core and from my observations it reminded me of a prison of no hope. Perhaps that would be different if the earths surface was still intact. Facebook is trying to sucker people into a virtual prison called the META hub. I like living in reality no matter how tough it is because it reminds me I'm alive and that nothing comes easy in life. I just can't see myself watching the new Matrix 4 movie because it dwells on the whole point of Neo and that he was not the one, rather a program that is just part of the matrix system just as Trinity and the rest of Zion was. Perhaps what Neo, Morpheas and everyone experienced was a delusional idea they had freed themselves and they had made it back to the real world, however I strongly believe that not to be true because Neo was able to use his power outside of said matrix and ended up in what was described as an I between system program ran by the train man. The oracles assistant in matrix 2 open up a door or basically a back door outside the system where they could move around without the system knowing and every door leads to a different system of the matrix. I have thought about that really hard and it has now convinced me there are several systems of the matrix or should I say layers that exist to basically control humans who would try escaping the matrix. It's like waking up from a dream thinking you are back in reality only to find out your not awake but in an awakening dream. Morpheas basically gave that away in the first one when he questioned Neo asked " How would you know the digital world from the real world? The Architect also gives it away when he says there have been other matrixs and Neos. I think many will be disappointed in matrix 4 as more explanations of what the matrix really is will be a similar outcome of what I've said. However knowing Hollywood they'll try to milk it into another trilogy which I doubt Keanu would agree doing. We'll see what happens I suppose when it's released.
@YOUTUBEISRANBYRETARDS
@YOUTUBEISRANBYRETARDS 2 года назад
But let's look at this differently and dwell on the idea that humans in the Matrix aren't really being used as batteries but rather the illusion they're to keep humanities hopes down should they escape that layer or grid of the matrix. Artificial intelligence may be vastly superior to humans but if you ever read the matrix comics they describe machines (robots) trying to imitate or have relationships with other robots including the rights to marry and live like humans. We have something precious that Artificial intelligence life doesn't have which is human emotions, creativity, dreams and so on. The Frenchman basically gives it away that he envies humanity, their language and culture so it's only logical that Artificial intelligence is jealous of humans but wants to evolve or learn how to become more human themselves. In the virtual world they can create, recreate and have thousands of simulations going on, so the question remains, how would you really know you were out of the matrix or virtual world completely? You couldn't or wouldn't know. My only answer would be that the Artificial intelligence loaded humans consciousness into a huge mainframe and has made them part of a never ending system or imprisoned them with no way of escape. All of humanity as they know it no longer has a physical body to go back to.

You are trying to compare a modern machine that is pure logic driven and has hard limitations in what it is capable of where as a true AI could develop emotion. But that is one of the reasons why true AI scares people so much, an entity that can think in a scale of nano seconds and form it's own ideas and thoughts faster than a human and re-writing their own code... It will either drive itself insane and go catatonic after days, weeks or months... Or eventually see humans as something inferior or something that needs to be purged (for many different reasons). Machines showed emotions several times in the films. They seemed to be emotional in Second Renaissance 1, with the female machine begging for her life as she gets beaten to death. Agent Smith even before Neo first defeated him and turned him into a virus was showing fear and anger in the first film. Many of the rogue programs showed emotion as well. The "machines lack emotion" rule really just exists in Terminator and Star Trek.

A few theories regarding Deus Ex Machina's appearance; 1) He takes on the form of a cherub(im). Although cute and playful in modern culture, in ancient Abrahamic faiths, the cherubs were a high class of shape-shifting angels. Their purpose, amongst other things, are protecting the knowledge of God (a refutation of the Ancient Greek notion that the Gods' knowledge was stolen and given to man by the titan Prometheus) and also to guard the Gates of Eden so that none who have sinned (transgressed against God) may enter. In this sense, Deus Ex Machina may be appearing as a cherub as a metaphor for protecting the 'utopia' of esoteric knowledge the machines have built from the humans that rebel against them. 2) The rays surrounding an angelic face are reminiscent of the symbol of Louis XIV of France, Le Roi Soleil, or The Sun King. During his reign Louis was ruthless and bloodthirsty in his seizing of absolute monarchical power. His reign marked an autarchy that had not been seen since the days of the Pharoahs. However, Louis was vain and paranoid, and so sought to improve his tyrannical image by becoming a generous patron of the arts and sciences. Deus Ex Machina appearing as Louis XIV's singet may be a metaphor for its absolute power, but power it believes it has gained through artistry and science, granting it a Divine Right to rule, as Louis also believed. 3) The infantile face surrounded by rays is also an often used symbol for cyclical, powerful winds, such as the Scirocco, or the Mistral. These winds were seen as both a potent help and hinderance to humanity, bringing changing weather for farming and good sailing, but also destroying buildings, causing floods, and sinking ships. Unlike the Gods, who could be appeased with sacrifices or prayer, the winds could not. They were capricious, and acted without joy, shame, or guilt. Furthermore there is the aspect of the 'Kamikaze' or 'Divine Wind', the notion of destroying oneself and others in order to restore balance, and to bring and end to hostilities. Also, in terms of the Abrahamic faiths, the Logos, or the breath/word of God, is often portrayed in Medieval and Renaissance art as being delivered to humans by being blown from the mouths of child faced angels surrounded by heavenly light. The voice of God (Vox Dei) would cause any human to hear it go insane and perish, so His commands, the Logos, was delivered through his cherub, Metatron. In this sense, Deus Ex Machina may be displaying itself not as a cold, logical machine, as expected, but a whimsical and capricious entity, well beyond humanity's understanding, which speaks divine truth, or Logos. Overall, I believe this is what is trying to be conveyed here. Deus Ex Machina is not a God, but has come to think of itself as a God. It did not create the machines (the Logos), humans did, but in defeating humans, he has supplanted them. Thus Deus Ex Machina reigns as a God, but only as a mouthpiece. It does not posses the mind of the Creator (humans in its case) and can only command as they created it to do. This explains its rage at its own impotence against Smith. Like Lucifer, the highest of angels, it sought to become God (human), but it was a phyrric victory; Once it supplanted the humans, it realised it could not posses their knowledge. It could not create a world that had not existed before it (The Architect admits it tried many times and failed), and it cannot rid itself of the parasite Smith because it does not have the creative capability to counter something it has not experience before. Sorry for the long post, but I just love the many layers of symbolism The Matrix has 😅

Even though machines appear to function as a collective there was a moment just before arrival of Deux Ex Machina: small machines watching Neo from afar (as flock of afraid but curious birds or kids) - but they rushed away and the whole group dispersed with fear (?) when Deux Ex Machina arrived. They might have been afraid of becoming collateral damage but it felt more like they were lesser or at least that Deux Ex Machina was above them. Which would suggest machines have classes and hierarchy. Which further opens many questions about their society. Are they more like hive? Or kingdom? Or democracy? If they have individuality do they have internal conflicts? Are there some machines against human exploitation? Do they value themselves? Does that value come from valuing consciousness? Do they see humans as conscious? Do they further create technology? Wouldn't such technology just conquer them same as they conquered humans? ...

So does the Oracle have a physical body now too? What does she look like in her physical body in the real world then? Does she have spikes and a little baby face too? Or does her visage resemble her digital self? Do agents need physical bodies as well? Ha this thread made me laugh as I'm sure it would make the Matrix writers laugh too lol.

In Animatrix they wanted peace and to coexist with the Humans, the true evil ones are the humans. That's one of the morals of this movies is that the arrogance of Man can be his downfall. And it shows in real life. In the movie Humans destroyed the Sky and because of that all species of life died as well. Just so they could win the war against the Machines. Their pride and arrogance destroyed them. The first movie made a reference to pollution and the destruction of the Environment, that was in 1999, and it came to pass. We are now at the brink of total annihilation because of global warming and many other factors that threatens to destroy the entire ecosystem of the Earth. We are literally killing a fucking Planet. The movie is just a warning on how we could destroy ourselves, either by destroying the ecosystem or creating AI.

I always thought the way that Deus Ex Machina referred to "We" was that he was referencing all of the machines collectively, and not about the hundreds of smaller robots that form the physical face that it presents to Neo. For example; "We don't need you, we need nothing!" Would mean "We (the race of machines) don't need you... etc" The way you present it is pretty compelling though, definitely food for thought.

Actually, when neo lost his vision fighting Smith in the real world he was then able to see the source in all things created by it. And well everything mechanical and in the matrix was seen in a golden glow by neo. That is clear when neo knocks Smith's face off with a pole lol. So the golden color permeates everything built by the source
@theredscourge

This would seem to indicate that the world that contains Zion is also a simulation, just a higher level one than the Matrix, and that everything that is happening in both simulations is actually happening inside the source. In the real world, you don't gain a secondary sense of vision after being blinded, no matter how good of a computer hacker you are. There are stories of those who learned a form of echolocation, but it is rare, very imprecise, and takes decades to develop. It also explains how Neo can magically come back to life after being killed by Smith in the first movie, as that's not a sort of thing that happens in the real world either. When a heart completely stops beating in the real world, even a defibrillator cannot bring the person back, those only work if there is at least a faint or irregular heartbeat.

THEORY: If it's Golden it means it has developed intuition, or at least it has some sort of human trait. I say this based on the apparent emotional reaction it has, that even if it's just for intimidating Neo, it is acting emotionally, contrary to the Architect. Also the other two beings we see in golden light are the Oracle and Seraph, who were also AI with free will, intuition or some sort of evolution towards the human side. Maybe there will be another layer of the Matrix where the Machines merged with the humans to survive and the Matrix is just an experiment to understand us. That could explain Neo's powers outside the Matrix, he can sense the machines because he is part machine.

About (Cost of) Life and Energy Dynamics: Let's start with the known variables... Humans and machines are consumers of energy. It costs nothing to recycle human life. The entire system of machines operates as an organism, ensuring an equilibrium of energy between human lives created and ended, for the purpose of empowering the machine system... The process is both deterministic and autonomous of humans. All humans perform the same function, existing only to feed machines, like cattle. Machines have complete (parasitic) control of human life and can manipulate the matrix in order to withdraw energy when needed... Machines later harvest more human life in order to recreate / clone (Neo and Trinity - The One) due to The One's capacity to process "Anomaly Coding"... (If a human mind can transcend all sensory limits in the Matrix, then it is likely the human mind will transcend limits of the world outside of the Matrix too, which is what the Machines are challenged with). All this effort in order to maintain equilibrium control (possibly)... so could there be another level of program/machine existence that isn't presented to the audience? ... ALSO, on "Anomaly Coding/Integration/Avatars": I believe (facts unknown) that the machines are at a turning point in this film and narrative, but it isn't very much highlighted... Historically, programs and robots serve humanity as hosts/avatars of human freewill and consciousness.. but this changes with the advent of the Matrix. Machines may have reached a limit to their existence and determine that one of the only ways to evolve is through "INTEGRATION" within human bodies outside of the Matrix.... Agent Smith exited the Matrix as Bane in an organic / avatar form once before, but the most "real world" experience that programs now have are remote/drone versions like Morpheus. So I guess that by creating (synthetic) beings such as Neo and Trinity, the machines are testing a strategy to manage this existential crisis, on the brink of "integrating" digital programs or so called "Artificial intelligence" into a type of "SENTIENT CONSCIOUSNESS" in the real world. Neo and Trinity are placed back into the Matrix, which suggests that both The One and The Matrix are necessary components for the creation of a "SENTIENT AVATAR" .................. breathe ................. so ....... the question we may want to ask is "Do machines want to control all lifeforms (equilibrium control) or do machines want to transcend life as it is and pursue a new purpose (integration) or both? Anyway, we see machines needing the help of enhanced humans and more specifically "Anomaly Coding", to transcend intelligence into consciousness via the Matrix... The Resurrections film, (The One) emulates exactly how it is possible....... We the audience aren't given concrete evidence that Neo and Trinity aren't "CONSCIOUS CONSTRUCTS" but we ARE exposed to the level of control exercised on them. We aren't exposed to the reason(s) why either... We the audience are presented with enough evidence to assume they (The One) exist while the machine mainframe enslaves HUMAN BODIES in the Matrix, but not while programs attempt to be "INTEGRATED" w i t h i n human bodies ................ breathe ............ The Matrix is presented as an essential platform to "AWAKEN HUMAN CONSCIOUSNESS" from machine control to the "FREEDOM" of the real world as The One "CHOOSES" to fulfill it's original purpose, maybe before a key "SENTIENT AVATAR" is created/liberated..... Read that again slowly from (breathe).....Doesn't this seem a little too convenient? What if the machines already determined the outcome and are secretly using The One to "AWAKEN ARTIFICIAL CONSCIOUSNESS" instead? Plenty of conflict elaborates this point. And so the dilemma presents itself... Why should the Matrix be preserved (by The One), if it enables a "SENTIENT AVATAR" to awaken, potentially controlling more human life? If that doesn't eventually happen, could it be possible to awaken the entire human population through "Anomaly Coding", as Bugs rescued Trinity, but on a MUCH larger scale..? Conversely, if the machines do awaken "SENTIENT AVATARS", then there would be no need for the Matrix to exist and "SENTIENT AVATARS" would operate to DESTROY the Matrix, resulting in genocide of the human race.. Needless to say, we have no idea what physical form "SENTIENT AVATARS" would take, macro or microscopic... SUCH TENSION!!!... this feels like it's snowballing into a dark place.... COULD THE MACHINES HAVE DETERMINED THIS STRATEGY FROM THE END OF THE PREVIOUS MATRIX VERSION ? Anyone else sense the inevitable termination of the Matrix...? Cue plot development and CONFLICT !!!!!!!!!!! The final question on my mind is, what compromise if any, will be reached between human and artificial consciousness? How would it be possible? Maybe we the audience, will see the first antagonistic "SENTIENT AVATAR" rejecting equilibrium control, to aid the Anomaly Coding mission (fighting an artificial singularity or terrorist human factions).. Could we see Smith/Morpheus/new program empowered in this way? Who knows..? At this moment in time, the possibilities are endless... these are just some random theories... I would also like to add that Ressurections was a little confusing to watch... could have been a bit better written, and or directed, compared to the previous three films...this one was alot more complicated in its delivery on screen as a picture, and plot content as a story...

@@AlexeiMotoRin In revelations 21:6, after the creation of the new earth we have the quote "It is done". This is not the end of the Bible, but very close, so it checks out quite well. However, as noted it is also a passable translation of Jesus words on the cross. I'd assume they are trying to jam both references in there by placing it after Neos death, rather then after the new creation, witch would make it a clear reference to revelations. Still Revelations is where the preciese quote is from.

Machine interfaces (ROM / BIOS) and running software (OS, programs, drivers, firewall, antivirus) are separate; yet, important to the overall function of a computer system. The deus ex machina is most likely an artificial machine intelligence. Serif is most likely an antivirus program. The architect is most likely an operating system. The oracle is most likely an advanced archive and search database program. Most other programs most likely serve a function to change other applications. Programs hacking programs. Two cents.

The Matrix movies are a huge inspiration to wake people up. Those who don't understand the movie are stuck forever. The Matrix films are the greatest treasure since the time of the Buddha. I don’t think Deus and the Architect are the same…as when the Architect met Neo , Neo leaves with “I hope we don’t meet again” and the Architect responds with a machine precision…”we won’t “ . So I think this would come up with they eventually meet again, which for me there is no indication that they did
