Pop. Hip-hop. Power ballads. There are so many flavors of K-pop-how do you choose the right one? In this episode of Dev Doodles, developers recall some of the challenges of creating the song POP/STARS. Animated by: Ehlboy
Or brought together anyway, considering they were already well known. Especially the (G)I-dle members. Actually, I'd like to know how they picked them out of many possible candidates.
Alejandro Coronado Probably because they are extremely popular in Korea even though they are a fairly new group. People often call them “monster rookies”. Soyeon (akali) also has amazing stage presence and is an incredibly good rapper, devs probably thought she had the voice that fit akali the best
@@beanmeow They contacted CUBE in February, as stated by Soyeon. (G)I-DLE debuted in May of the same year. I like to think that they were going for HyunA or Yeeun (literally the Ahri prestige looks like her, and I think someone even said she mained Ahri) and they provided their best trainees. Soyeon had already debuted by then, which also leads me to believe that Riot was content with her, but (G)I-DLE debuting strongly in the process solidified their decision. Still, this doesn't answer the question, and the process of how each member was selected is an integral part to how K/DA and even True Damage was created in the first place.
I'm not going to lie. Coming across K/DA on RU-vid is what brought my attention to LOL. At least the animations. That a few years later im playing this game and have no idea what I'm doing
same I was new since all out came out, i listened to all of the music, watched all the cinematic, read almost all of the lore, watched every trailer, read most of the comics.
@@Vlog1cal Yea a lot of people do wrong things, doesn't make them not wrong. As for the romanzations being 'wrong', no. The convention for eo to represent the phoneme of ㅓ is not 'wrong', it's a convention. But adding a u to it makes it a completely different word with a different pronunciation and a different number of syllables.
@@mmtigan well that is true for soyeon and miyeon, but what about a lot of other Korean names that are usually romanized differently not following any rules like the usage of u (instead of eo representing ㅓ) in Sunmi, Hyuna… the usage of ee instead of i in Seunghee or Park and Lee instead of Bak and I or sometimes translating Korean pronunciation rules sometimes not (Seungri pronounced as Seungni). My point is that you are right, but romanization is such a mess (especially when it comes to Korean names) regardless of any standards.
Lets be honest guys. Imagine trying to make a Kpop music video for the KPOP fans/stans in the league community without messing up anything. You gotta give Riot A+ for putting up with all of these Kpop stans on Twitter or any other social media.
I mean, I love the song, but the KPOP fanbase is way too toxic in terms of American/Canadian fans, and the fact that music was made to satisfy them really proves that.
This project was the best and the best Riot has ever done... And, the person who thinks of putting glow in the dark in the face of Akali should really raise his salary. That was the best kill point. (If we create a new girl group in the future, I have a small wish that Dreamcatcher will be the base. I think it'll be a really good combination with Riot.)
@@joseantoniogomezrodriguez1724 When? The only references to Pentakill I saw were: -A brief, half-second clip of a live performance with a PK Karthus cosplayer in Brazil -That guy in the music department playing The Bloodthirster with very red lighting
"some rioters are secretly KPOP fans" well technically speaking, even KPOP idols are major rioters 😂😂😂 1 idol was present at the event even though he had an urgent flight for a concert overseas 😂
@@gigifabulous Well there were 3 new rumored songs for kda. Im excited for new ones too but it has been over 2 years since the Last pentakill Songs. So yeah...
I wish they talked about how they got Gidle to get involved and why they picked them but still it makes me so happy to see that everyone who worked on KDA put so much love & effort into it and they didn't just use kpop cause it's big globally
Without writing an essay length explanation, Rito still being owned by its founders means the company only makes things it wants to. The only reason a project at Riot exists is because someone there wants it.
probably just trial and error not much else to it most likely they listend to all the diffrent people and then picked out who would work and who wouldnt then called them up not much else to it they did it like a casting call probably
coming back to this video, i still adore learning about how much effort was put into this song! plus, hearing a bit of the instrumental made me go back to listen to the instrumental version of the song, _just_ so i could listen to the specific sounds y’all used! there’s so many layers in the song, that hearing them individually only makes me love it that much more when hearing it all together!
You know what everyone, don't thank the riot, thank their teamwork, their unity, and everything they've done. They put everything that they have in every single thing they're trying to execute, to give us players that epic, legendary, pentakill, K/D/A popstar, awesomeness feeling whenever we play their game. Personally, i think that they're already awesome, but then they release these new updates, and i was like "they're more than awesome!! They're Legends!!" And it just continue, every time i think they're awesome on what they do, it increases every time they give new updates. So basically, Thank Riot Games!! :D
@@vanilla9583 You didn't need soundcloud to know about it, the official instrumental was already up on RU-vid the same month the music video was released
November 2020 - K/DA - POP/STARS anniversarry is hinted to be the next performance; 2 new singles - title only - have been leaked already maybe more at the works.
Now that I listened to the different stems, I really want to have an instrumental version of it to fully appreciate all the different tracks and the mixing.
I almost died, the first time i heard the song, almost like everything i liked just got into place while i heard it. I really almost died of cuteness while seeing Ahri, and the music just made it soooooo much better. Congratulations to the team, it is just a masterpiece, the first time you see it, and i'm a perfectionist, and i was watching all the details, you guys really did it well. :D Thanks a lot for it, it's not everyday that you find something like this.
i love K/DA very much, the beat is addicting. i need this video longer, like how you find the artist for the project, who choreograph the moves, how the works on their awesome live performance, etc
I want just to say thanks a lot to the team behind K/DA bringing a masterpiece! It's hit me like a train and make my world more colorful! Thanks from all of us, you are the heroes
Neat to learn the development behind this....I know next to nothing about League of Legends, and not much more about K-Pop....just an anime nerd....but I know when I discovered K/DA "Popstars" on RU-vid in 2018 while attending Oni-Con 2018 on Veterans Day weekend I was blown away...I kept watching it over and over on my iPhone getting happy drunk on Mexican beer & margaritas with the sound of this banger hit reverberating in my head....good times!
