Tom, I can honestly say that you're a person who makes life better for others, including cows and us viewers. Thanks for the humility, creativity, and energy you bring to everything we see! All the best!
Grass lice I used to call sheep coming onto any excess grass in the autumn! When we switched to autumn calving- 260 cows in 8-9 wks, we stopped the sheep coming- over wintered grass has a positive value for getting the first lot of safely I/c cows out, mid Feb!
The sideshed looks nice! I'm also interested in learning more about the "cow board"! :) Also your positive energy is one of my favourite things in your videos! :D
It's great that you've still the older buildings you'd once call new many years ago to hold the cattle/milking cows while your new shed is almost in stages of being completed to save champing up the grass fields and loss of milk yield . Keep up the good work all at Pembertons another great Tuesday video 👍😅
It is so great to see all those happy cows! Sorry that some of the joy/excitement in the new shed seems to have waned. It is a testament to your dedication that you didn't back away from this project.
Please do not change who you are! I look forward to your funny/silly self banter. It upbeat and lively and brings joy to Us. As far as the puddling (low area) in the high traffic areas by the gate. Sand is a great filler, more cost effective than dirt, and makes for a great filler. Just a thought, pluses is soft in the hoofs!!! From Oklahoma USA ❤️
Absolutely love these type of husbandry videos around the yard Tom. More would be amazing! It's great to see a classic conventional English Dairy farm, especially because it reminds me of milking with my Granddad.
Hello Tom, watching you you can tell that you truly truly love your cows. You know every single one of them by name. I can’t wait to see your new cowshed. Kathryn
It’s awesome to see how you know every cow in your herd and the level to which you take care of them,. Hopefully the girls will be moving into the new wing of hotel Pemberton soon.
@@kvonahlefeldt me!from Canada, seems like just yesterday, and I'll admit, with everything else, I forgot, for a while.😚😘sorry.. Glad I found you again!
Nice, calm sorting! Wish more farmes tok their time and got their cows used to having them around like you've done, so sorting could be that stress free everywhere.🥰👏👏
Tom I love your videos. How beautiful your cows are .they definitely look happy. Lots of work. A farmer's work is never done. Have a blessed day and week. May God continue to bless you and strengthen you each day and all your hard worker's, you have helping you out. God bless your farm, cows and staff.
Another great video Tom, it was great to meet you today it has given us a different perspective of your yard layout ect. Thank you for answering my questions about the new shed. your cows are a credit to you and they look just as good in person. keep up the good work 👍👍🐄🐄
Hi Tom, any chance of doing a cow comparison of what is really good, what is average, and what needs building up. The sizes, the bone structure, the muscle definition, etc. Really enjoying the transformation, and upgrading of the farm, well done to all concerned. Hope all the family, and work force are well, and by the way, where's our Heidi lately? Keep safe, cheer's.
He is a normal person, who loves his Animals, and the priority he gives the herd is great to see, Tom I love the videos you are doing, farming is not always easy, there is up's and downs daily, would love to visit your farm some time in the future, within 2 years, I live around farming families and have helped out on them on numerous occasions, your talking in the videos show how farming really is, bad day, good days, even when things don't go right, I like your attitude, true gratitude, your father even sounds like a man who knows the up and downside of farming, it is either in you or not, michael power
Tom be as you are we all keep watching because of your charisma and enthusiasm for farming. We can tell your love of your cows especially when you get excited over the shape of one of your girls bottom lol. Comon to those of you who have not subbed to this amazing chanel do so now! Let's get Tom to 400k by the weekend plz.
Your personality is one of the things that I enjoy! You are correct, building materials have skyrocketed with the “shortages” caused by COVID-19. It’s a bidding war with the supply and demand economics that has us all over a barrel at the moment. The “interest” that you have in that Charolais rear end has me concerned Tom!😂😂
Great video Tom, nice to see your cows coming in out of the cold damp weather, you will have to do a video on the cow board, some time explaining how it works, can’t wait for Fridays video, by the way you sneaked in a hair cut 👍👍.
Pleeeeese don't change your intro. I love it. I say it along with you. It's like a catch phrase and I love seeing how you change the way you say it every time.
Love your dark colored Jerseys with the almost black face and side markings. Glad to hear you're feeding a high energy feed to your high producers and lean milk cows. Some are just slow eaters or poor digesters, gotta give them a chance to prove themselves out. Consider the 5000 kelvin bright sunlight bulbs. Try some hydrated lime on the cow walkways and high movement areas sprinkled on. Sticks to the hooves. Kills lots of bacteria and disease protozoa. Kills calf scour problems dead in the calf bedding areas. Goes right into your muck tank. Would not put it in cow bedding areas so the cows won't breath it in. High rainfall grass fields loves a less acid soil.
Tom, I just love your videos and really appreciate the time you take to put videos out for us. You always bring such good education and I really love seeing you with your cows. Thanks for always sharing the changes you make, why you feels its better or why you felt an improvement was needed and what you find works. Love that you share your information for other farmers and to know what products are out there that you feel is good for your cows. Love seeing your dad and the spring in his step. You know he’s living his best farming years through you and being part of the changes your making and having him give his input as he’s able to be part of the future of farming with you. He sure is smiling a lot lately! Thank you!
My daughter is a vegan but she loves the way you treat your cows she said its so sweet,if only all farmers where the same doing a top job Tom keep it going, one day i would love to come to the farm to say hello 👋
Hi Tom, I take it today's video was recorded some days prior to the Friday's construction video. It's hard to tell with no date / time stamp. That being the case the new shed will be further along than we see in this video. Happy cow's 🐄🐄🐄🚜🚜🚜
@@Beefy2203 Thanks I missed that. So I am right in thinking the progress of the shed is much further along than referenced in this video. Hopefully the last section of concrete has been poured by now and work has started on setting up the pens and finishing off the slurry pit.
4:39 you could consider hanging those clear rubber flaps wich are also used in front of the opening from big freezer cels to keep the wind out. They work like a dream and the cows are not bothered by them and they don't chew on the them.
It's always sad when the cows have to come in but lets face it Tom it's well worth watching them frolic about when they go out again in the Spring. I think those are some of my favourite videos. Loved how happy those cows were munching on that fodder.👍👌
Throughly enjoyed that love videos with cow management side I love all the colours and breeds you have I am holstein man but love your jerseys incredible little breed
Tom you are amazing! I wish I had half of your energy. I'm not a cow person (I just adore animals and really respect what farmers do), but listening to you is like doing one of the internet brain games to keep your brain moving! Between your accent, my lack of cow farming knowledge combined with the speed at which you talk, my brain gets quite the workout trying to figure out what your saying! I'm not complaining as I love a challenge and you are a wonderful, caring and smart farmer, so don't change a thing! Love it!
Love your energy it makes me smile don’t change your amazing. I now want a light that whistles when I turn it on lol 😂 love how you love your cows they are really cute especially momma I’m glad she’s in the shed x
Tom, have you thought about hanging a large piece of canvas to go over that doorway. One you can fold back to let the cows come and go. Would make a real dent on the wind and also keep the rain out. Also, just another gentle hint to slow your voice down and keep your face to camera when talking we can't her you when you face the other way. I'll also add what I added once before. If you don't slow down you are a major threat for a heart attack and none of this is any good to you, especially Joannah if you're dead.
Before watching this I watched 'A day in the life of a Japanese Waygu Beef Farmer. Other side of the world, different culture but the young farmer related to his 'girls' just the same as Tom. Even Cow language seems to be similar. Really enjoy the husbandry videos.
I don't understand how you can be sad. If you were a cow I'm sure you'd look forward to going out in the spring but then look forward to going back inside in the autumn. Your cows will be happy as long as you look after them, which you excel at (with advice from your pa)
very interesting as always tom !!!!!! dont forget to inform us all on nigel the bull to see how hes doing - is he behaving & improving as a bull -- cheers tom !!!!!
It seems like you’ve staffed-up, understandable considering all the work you’re involved in. I was just wondering what positions you have, full-time/part-time, intern? Partnerships that participate in farm tasks? What are you still involved in? How will things change when the construction projects are done? Would love to see a vid on the business side of how things are changing.
well done tom great video our cows in cork ireland are still out but were feeding them like hell inside we bring them in at about 3 oclock for an hour or two befor milking and leave them straight out after plz reply
Cracking video!!! TLC ( Tom’s love and cake) Tom could you not put a tarpaulin up to stop the draft or deflect the draft. Shame about the new tractor but priority are your ladies. 🐄🐄🚜
🔔 Dear Tom: Cow bells to you! Thank you for taking good care of the cows, and loving them. I do have a question: You said that the white saw dust you are using on their beds is expensive...Why don't you use nice fresh, sweet & soft bales of hay???? 📠 🍀 💟 🌷🌻🌷🌻🌷🌻🌷🌻
Awww. Tom I love your cow videos! You care so much for your cows and they do you! I wish you would make a video on your favorite cow; how she came to be your favorite etc.
Can't wait to see the cows all housed in the new building warm and cosy and the smoke /ventilation test carried out. If it's a bad result will you knock the building down and start again? 😂🤣😂
Now that it is obvious the new shed will not be finished before Dec please in detail tell us why the delay and how much more does this add to the cost of this building project. Hoping a clear quiet environment will be chosen by you to explain
I don’t know if we had a video of the milking parlor without the milking stuff. Like what cows do while they’re being milked. I’m guessing you have a cake chute from the roof? But we never got the tour of that. Always wondered why you stood in the roof of the shed with a gain pipe on your back… Great vid as always Tom. Always a good day when there’s a new one. One of the couple of creators I watch every video of.
crazy to think you have milked cows in that small shed for many many years... Ive only worked in bigger modern dairy sheds. Mostly rotarys too. Love ya Tom!!
Tom you are doing amazing and slow and steady wins when you are talking, but other than that it shows your deep heart felt passion to share and holding the care of these wonderful moo moo's at the highest concern without them there wouldn't be a farm. The blondie Charolais nice rump, baby got back!!! Stay strong buddy hope you and your family are doing great and healthy. I was able to get to order some TP merch and very excited for the T shirt with farm rule number one and my new coffee mug to deliver. Cheers to October and lets bring on November.
Just a thought, why don't you do as Farmer P does and put a lorry cargo/ scaffolding net across the top of the opening to the shed. This might ease the draft problem. Keep up the good work, great channel, nothing to do with farming myself but really enjoying a few vloggers like yourself.
