The City of Abbotsford is issuing an immediate and urgent notice to all residents that did not evacuate the Sumas Prairie earlier today to evacuate immediately. Conditions within the Sumas Prairie within the last hour have escalated and pose a significant risk to life due to the imminent failure of the Barrowtown Pump Station. The Barrowtown Pump Station serves as a critical piece of infrastructure to ensure the Sumas Lake does not reform. With the failure of this key piece of infrastructure, water within the Sumas Prairie will not be able to be pumped out and water from the Fraser River will begin entering the already flooded Sumas Prairie area. Additional water flow down from Sumas Mountain is also now creating further flooding in the area. This event is anticipated to be catastrophic. Residents need to abandon their efforts to save livestock, ignoring current orders in place and to leave the area immediately. Residents remaining and can’t evacuate safely are requested to call 911 and report their location immediately. Abbotsford City water in the Sumas Prairie will be turned off at 9 pm as a current water main breach within the Sumas Prairie has occurred due to erosion.

It's a floodplain... look at the topography and the path of the river. You can see how it meandered over time. It's full of farmland for that very reason. This place has flooded for hundreds of thousands of years.

Hmmm, here's the problem The atmosphere holds 7%more water vapor per 1c rise Planet is 1.5c above preindustrial levels Planet is receiving 10% more In another 5 to 10 years, global temperatures will rise another 0.5c, putting the water vapor concentration at 14%, that 200mm of rain becomes 270mm, think of the damage that's going to do For every 0.5c global temperature rise, heatwaves will increase 10c 20 to 30 years ago, global temperatures were 0.5c cooler and heatwaves were 30c to 40c shade temperatures and add 10c when in sunlight Now, planet is 0.5c warmer and heatwaves are hitting 40c to 50c shade temperatures and add 10c when in sunlight, lynton hit 49.6c, that was shade temperatures, standing in the sunlight it would have been 59.6c 5 to 10 years, global temperatures will rise another 0.5c, heatwaves will hit 50c to 60c shade temperatures and add 10c when in sunlight What plants and grains can handle 70c temperatures It's not the road/highways, it's those personal gas guzzling machines that is the problem Time to destroy the fossil fuel economy, society and culture

I remember the creek washouts on Hwy 99 at M Creek & Culliton Creek. Heavy rain coupled with any amount of snow in the mountains will test any creek or river leading to erosion, flooding, torrent debris hazards, & all out land slides. Landslides & flood management are very well documented in BC. For those that didn't expect this outcome, then please consult the geo-technical engineering reports that exist for your local area. It important to know the risk & calculate predictable outcomes. The National Weather Service in the USA has a "Turn Around Don't Drown" slogan for flooding.

The province was well aware back in 2007 what the flood protection shortcomings were- no one did anything!! Why did the Premier not do anything to risk mitigate!!? Where was the use of the Provincial Emergency System!? Why did he wait so long to ask Trudeau for help!? ( protocol dictates a Province must first simply say “Help” and it will be given) Every provincial and municipal government since at least 2007 is to blame. The “Almighty Dollar “ and it won’t happen during “my term” is always what dictates action versus inaction!

I feel sorry for all the farm animals left to drown when they shouldn't have been there in the first place. Animals don't exist for humans to profit from their bodies.

Fed & Provincial Government has to show leadership and PRIORIZE spending tax dollars. Instead of housing vagrants and crack-heads spend tax dollars on real world issues, oh , like, infrastructure.

So sad but this is all part of the end times scenario, the rapture and the 7year Tribulation are right around the corner. Please give your life to JESUS CHRIST today!!! Read biblical prophecy, listen to Dr. Ron Rhodes on end times chronology.

Poor animals! People chose to be there, the animals we're forced. Meat & dairy consumers couldnt care less though as long as animals suffer they're happy.

and these animals would not exist, they are all GMO. We have created the current iteration of these animals to fit our needs. They would not be as nearly as widespread without us. Its a successful symbiotic relationship. The cows will live a long happy life till(provided the farmer is good at their job) they are to old to produce and then have a quick painless death. Then off to MC Donald's to be turned into a burger and will live on in you. A happy animal produces more, so its in the farmers best interest to create an environment where they can thrive.
