Hello I am Belay Zewude from Ethiopia and student of MSC Economics in One Ethiopian University. Currently I am conducting my research on public policy means tax related paper. By saying this, I have read your explanation about Hypothesis means H0 and H1. Sure, I have got many things regarding to them, but I have additional question if you allow me to ask you and give me your time. Which hypothesis can we put 1st in our research? Means, H0 or H1? What is our base for that? Is that what literature saying or reverses? Let me give you my variables with literature:- The literature said GDP has a positive relationship with tax revenue; inflation has a negative relationship with tax revenue. How can I put it Ho and H1 in my paper? What about direction of it? Example, if one empirical says negative relations and other researcher said positive, how can I put it under H0 and H1? I am waiting for you and I thank you in advance
Helo Belay, thank you for leaving your question. Please, ensure you work closely with your supervisor and school format on this. However, based on your question and listed topic, you are liberty to have both Null & Directional hypotheses. This will be based on your reading literature extensively and agreeing with it, & or pre-run/estimate your data to know whether one variable is positive or negative.... If you have done that then you can leave the variant of your hypothesis specification. Otherwise, simply just use the Null format (No need to include the Alt) since your are not sure of the direction (outcome) of variables yet. Please, let me know if this info help. Please also help subscribe, like, & share the channels. Thank you.
