he has it in his programs. Whatever you would measure a specific athlete in their sport which would cover a specific thing. Like Acceleration, Speed, Vertical power, horizontal power, closed agility, endurance, mobility
well said. I love the point you bring up in regards to not solely relying on absolute strength. I have applied a lot of your principles in my own training and developing other aspects of fitness and you among other trainers on the web have helped me do so in a efficient and safe way. Many thanks.
Would love to see other strength standards for different sports that you look for before transitioning to power training. Bench, pullups, OHP etc for sports like football, soccer, basketball
As kids, most had jobs that required a lot of lifting or moving around all day, hence, great relative strength. Not too many of the new gens have that kind of background.
Start with bodyweight my man. Do isometric squats and lunges, box step downs, bulgarian split squats, pushups, pullups, inverted rows. Once you can hit 10+ perfect form box step downs, 10+ perfect pull ups, and 30+ perfect pushups, you are probably strong enough to move onto using weights.
I was just reading about the force velocity curve.. def is within the realm of where you want to be training as an athlete and what type of sport.....shot putting etc...
Great point on not looking at things in isolation & manipulating variables other than strength! Just had a question though with regards to the force velocity continuum! Where do you think sprinting would fall along that line ? Since if we look at sprinting, average forces are 2-2.5 times their bodyweight with peak forces reaching over 4x during contact, all done at short GCT’s? In the context of physics how does this play out since force = mass x acceleration?
Hey Chris being a novice cricket athlete training at home doing weighted pull up/chin ups ,weighted push ups, weighted pistols and weighted archer squats for strength on upper and lower days should I 5×5 or 4×6 as I don't wanna train max effort or 2s and 3s now.
So what are some exercises to increase speed and power if my absolute strength is already 2x my body weight. How can I transfer it to the playing field
Can you tell us how to train relative strength? When you said people can lift a lot of weight on the squat rack but still have a low broad jump, I related to that and I always thought the solution to that was just squatting more. So how can I improve my relative strength and jump a lot higher and run a lot faster?
hi .My time in 30m sprint is 4.3 seconds but my 30meter flying sprint is 3.6 seconds. What is my problem with 30meter fly. How can I improve my time in 30m fly !!I feel frustrated about this pls answer
2.2x BW in pounds or kilogram? I am 90 kilos, 2.2x my bodyweight are 198 kilograms what is a lot more than a relativley easy deadlift with around 100 pounds.
May not have footage of it. Weightlifting started like in England late 1700's - 18th century. Maybe even sooner. Also sprinting is a skill and you better have a good coach to teach it.
@@abkonk l don't think exactly it's a 1RM. A 1RM is your slowest bar movement. In his programs he advocates a tecnical 2RM. Also you can look back on his videos training Darius Williams and see he doesn't let him go past 3 reps on his squat.
Trap bar deadlifts/ DB deadlifts if you don't have TBar. Full squats. Bulgarians. Lunges. Pistol squats. KB swings. Hang cleans. Box squats. Quarter squats. So many l reccomend stick w/basics. Look at elite sprinters training videos. Choleman. Yohan Blake. U.Bolt. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aYIMI9xSTPA.html
I think u basically askin on workouts for lazy athletes and those who want fast results, cmon man stop relating those bodybuilding programs when it comes to being an athlete. Those two are very different.
@@MrSpicabooo Really how did i shave 0.20 off my 40 the next day l did those squats with bands. You obviuosly don't know that the bar decelerates when you don't have bands and you have to slow down to do another rep. Hence train slow the slower you get the slower you get the faster you lose. Bands allow you to explode through the concentric of the lift with more speed. C.Barnard did a video on that. It's called best weight training methods for athletes. But who am l? 🤷♂️
