Yes, Auston Gordon's natural development (or regression in this case) overshadowed the gains from the Lab. A regular 'success' on pitcher movement or control is typically about 3 points on the 20-80 scale so often won't be visible anyway Markus did say they were working on modifying the Lab email reports so that they would clearly indicate what stats changed. Looking forward to that update.

Great stuff! I just started playing OOTP with this version and have been enamored with the dev lab, so rly cool to see you work through it here. I've loved all of your stuff. Thanks and looking forward to the big sim!

I would guess that the real MLB teams have more than 6 players in the org doing off-season programs. Far more. Does anyone have any information on that?

Great video. Love your stuff. What do you guys use if anything for player and prospect evaluation? I am trying to get to a this-year + career WAR projection for all hitters (by position) and pitchers for all the players in the population...as simply as possible
@pfholden
@pfholden 3 месяца назад
Unfortunately there's really no simple way to do projections.

@@pfholden Thanks for this. I have (somewhat accidentally / inadvertently) developed this year what I suppose is nowadays the number 1 projections system for Football Manager which is a game pretty similar to OOTP that you may know. I might have a play around to see if I can come up with something for OOTP - can see it's quite a big job. If I do come up with anything useful I would love to ping you and get your take on it if that's interesting. Regardless of that thank you for helping me learn some of the intricacies of OOTP, I have watched hours and hours of your stuff + look forward to seeing what you have planned for OOTP25

This is cool! There was someone who built a projection system several years ago. But it was based off ratings under the hood, not stats. I prefer to leave the stuff under the hood as a bit of a mystery, and basing it off stats would require a ton of simulations.

@@squirrel_plays_fof4318 I think it was Sgt. Mushroom on YT who did the under the hood things, but he hasn't done anything since 22 or 23 I believe. Not quite sure you could do a system to put a single value to a player like you do for FM seeing as it's quite dynamic ratings all in all, plus there are fewer attributes to take into account. However, OOTP is an easier game to do the simulations for because there is an option in the settings to freeze attributes (Game Settings --> Players --> Player Development On/Off). It also has plenty of options for easy exporting of data, so I'm sure you'll figure it out. There was also someone (can't remember who, might've been Sgt. Mushroom) who gave a tutorial on how to set up leagues/saves for data collection. Might be of help if you're able to find it.

Not putting Ethan Salas through a development lab program is an unforgivable sin! 😡 😉

I lowkey wanna get into this game being that I have a pc and can no longer play the show (unfortunately) but it seems so overwhelming and no idea where to start

I used to play the show and I switched to ootp and I enjoy it a lot more. I would just start with a quick start MLB save with your favorite team and just try to manage trades and the draft. Work your way up from there

I'd check out his OOTP for beginners series he did a few versions ago, most of it should still be relevant and it helped me a lot when I was starting out

Just play it bro you'll get the hand of it. It's hard to trade although you can choose the difficulty, but its an awesome feeling when you get a good team together.

I've seen successful training result in negative, my best guess is the player was regressing since his last scouting report and the deb lab boosted it back up, but not quite enough. I'm curious if anyone else notice the dev lab working better with more developed prospect as opposed to the ones who are raw. I tried brute forcing some low talent, high potential guys but it never seems to work.
@Hiit_Mann

I've found the same thing. Oftentimes I have found it to be more beneficial to utilize the development lab for players who are already trending up. As was seen in this video, if the natural development of a player is trending down the lab seems to not have much effect, and definitely not turn that natural development around. On the other hand, a player already trending up seems to get a boost in their development and oftentimes have a greater chance for success.

Yeah, I generally stick to AA and AAA prospects, I've had a lot more luck with those than raw dudes.

Does velocity matter?
@pfholden
@pfholden 3 месяца назад
Yeah, it plays into stuff and (I think) individual pitch ratings.
@christianwilson3718
@christianwilson3718 3 месяца назад
@@pfholden the individual pitches are what make up the Stuff rating. Higher velocity improves all pitches except changeups.
