i love the intro so SO much. it cleverly tricks you into thinking its gonna be a resident evil inspired battle track, showing how scary and terrifying the enemies are, and you'll need to survive. then the beat kicks in and you know that you're not facing an enemy, the enemy is facing YOU.
The same can be said for the start of the game. The visuals, the narration and the overall spooky vibe going leads you to believe the game is going to be more akin to RE. Some strange lady barges in, beats Dante’s ass and starts using demonic magic on him and your like “holy crap is this the kind of enemy I’m going up against?” Annnnd then Dante whips his unlimited ammo guns out and pulls a freaking broadsword out of him like he’s ripping off a bandaid leaving you to say “ok why was I worried again?”
Considering how close that game was to Resident Evil, maybe they decided to drop even more the connections to it by getting rid of the gothic atmosphere.
This fact has been repeated so much on the internet that it's basically common knowledge. It's about as overdone as calling Nero "deadweight" for the memes
You know I have a theory that the director was always intending to make what he made but just told capcom he was making a resident evil installment so they would Greenlight it.

I am so happy he went with DMC1 Dante costume over 3 or 5. That outfit is extremely cool. Though it's really weird that they used this track in the trailer but they don't give it to you.
In order of my top DMC songs its DMC 3 Devils Never Cry (SSS) DMC 1 Public Enemy (SS) DMC 4 Shall Never Surrender (SS) DMC 5 Devil Trigger (SS) and then all Statue songs but only when I am in a haunting and relax kinda mood (S)
Devil May Cry 1. The game that started my love for the DMC series. I still remember when I played this game on Dante Must Die, played as Sparda, and more. Goddamn ever since I played DMC 1 I can't stop loving this fucking soundtrack. I'm so glad I have the DMC HD Collection.
I've always felt a bit scared of getting overwhelmed by the tons of different combos you can do in these games, and that is part of why I did not really want to try getting into them. But I decided to try out DMC1 since it should be the simplest of them. And oh so glad am I for that, I really want to try out the rest later on now after finishing the first one (although I want to play 1 on Dante must Die first before anything else, because the game has me that hooked)
Itsuno is interested in making Devil May Cry 5,a fifth installment FOR THE OLD series. I hope he does. CAPCOM made it clear that DmC is not a replacemnt for the old DMC,but rather an expansion of it.Itsuno said "if people are still interested in exploring the world of DMC(old one),we're happy to go back as well".Well CAPCOM,I expect you to make DEVIL MAY CRY 5.And if they do,I hope they bring back these kinds of soundtrack. EDIT: I know this comment was long ago And it's been two years since DMC5 was released. I'm glad to have this series back on track. I always saw DmC as a reboot. I heard them talking about it like that. I also heard that CAPCOM and Ninja Theory are now on something like a pause for the series. I might not be up to date but it's what I remember.
As I was saying.Itsuno stated that's not a replacement rather an expansion of it.I hate the reboot,I think that CAPCOM will have to make us wait for years until DMC5(original series) will be released.That means they have to finish DmC series and get back to DMC5 or it might not really happen then that interview was just a calm down to the fans,and if it don't,I'm gonna have to activate my DT on.I'm still interested in exploring in DMC(original),and hell I am,there are still many of us who really wants to explore and see the ORIGINAL DANTE again for hell's sake,and I want Itsuno to know that!I want CAPCOM to know that.But hell they're too stubborn to listen.Either way,there's still no news about the Original DMC coming back.But I hope so.Peace out.Adios.
Randy Gutierrez I hope so.It's not confirmed.But interested. Last Feb.14 they registered a DEVIL MAY CRY trademark for Xbox One,PS4 and PC. Hopefully,this is not one of those Definitive Edition for next gen consoles,rather a Devil May Cry 5 Original series.
They just released DMC 5 in 2019. The series is still getting better! RE2 and RE3 and DMC5 are what brought Capcom back to prominence. And DMC5 was built using the new RE engine that was made for RE2 remake.
I rather have a new ip. Re2 remake was okay and re3 remake was terrible. They would only ruin the dmc games, just play them. They are fine how they are now.
The best DMC to date imo. I absolutely love the Resident Evil vibe of it and wish the later games stuck with it. The action of the combat and horror of the environment you were exploring just blended so fucking perfectly it's ridiculous.
Szczaqu agreed, DMC2-4 was developed by a different team and the games feel so much different than the original. Even Dante's personality is never quite the same.
@sadsmile96 yep it is, better graphics, good music (except for dante and king cerberus themes), gameplay is more fluid, you can play with 3 different characters (sadly you can't freely choose which one you preffer to use during missions, only on mission 13, still each one has unique abilities and style, dante is better for combos, and a pro can easily pull off multiple stylish combos, Nero is more simple and his combos are easier to perform, which can be the perfect character for a novice player, and V has the most unique playstyle, which results on him being a fun choice to use), and we can't forget the fact that it brought Vergil back, definetily the best DMC of the franchise, before it 3 was the best one but Dmc V is simply better in every aspect so.

OP was reffering to the fact we only got a Mii and just the Mii, no DMC soundtracks got into Smash despite the announcement featuring it and my comment was confirming it. Undertale on the other hand got a Mii costume AND soundtracks. We got the bare minimum of the bare minimum. Not only was Dante shafted but the Devil May Cry series as well, appalling representation.
This brings back memories. My brother and I kicking some demonic puppet ass in the plane room, seeing how long we could fight without dying. Good times.
Still the best battle theme Dante has ever had. I don’t much care for the ones wit lyrics because it gets REALLY old after you’ve heard “the flames in your eyes” for the thousandth time.
@thelombax2002 dmc 3's lyrics are actually dualistic in that it can apply to both the player and the player's enemy since the player (dante) is still technically a devil. Hell there's even a part of the lyrics of devil's never cry mocking the players about using golden orbs.
Played it for the first time recently, what an unique game, i love how the music starts similar to something from Resident Evil, but then the guitar comes, it's like "you're not trapped in there with them, they're trapped in there with YOU"
When I first played DMC1 back when I was a Freshman Highschool in ‘09 (I know I started late in the DMC franchise) this shit was banger when I first heard this while I slay Marionettes, reminds me of some Sci-Fi action films soundtracks 👊👊👊
I think it's time for a remake! An update on the graphics and maybe some more back and forth between Dante and Trish, a more dynamic combat system and a tad more development on Trish to make her not seem like a brick of a character and I'll be tossing my cash at the game

Devil May Cry must be experienced on Dante Must Die mode! One of the most exhilarating action games of all time. Feels like you're going on a rampage in one of your worst nightmares!
+Anonymously Person Even that they got wrong in DmC: Devil May Cry, though still not quite right the original series was actually closer to them being Nephilim than the reboot, the Nephilim were supposedly created by the son's of God and the Daughters of man (So male angels/Demons depending on whether they were fallen and female humans) therefore meaning they had to be half human just like in the original, also the Nephilim were supposed to be giants haha
+Lucky Singh, I still haven't played the rebooted DmC. Holy mother of god, DMC2 is a PIECE O SHIT, are you sure DmC is that bad?! I still gonna play it, but even though i find "DMC3>DMC1>DMC4>DMC2", DMC4 is still a very good game, while DMC2 it's simply poorly made and not fun at all.

Fun fact for those who don't know: Every single song in the entire franchise is a remix of this song, including every song in the 2012 DmC reboot. It took me many years before I eventually noticed this and my mind was and still is blown. Ever since I realized this I've been able to hear the leitmotifs in every other franchise I play and I love it when composers take the same song and remix it over and over like this. Pokemon also does the same thing with it's trainer, gym and wild battle themes. If you listen closely, you'll hear the exact same underlying beat of this song underneath every other song in the franchise. The beat simply goes 1,2,3,4 1,2,3,4 1,2,3,4 1,2,3,4 1,2,3,4 1,2,3,4 1,2,3,4 1(long pause), 2(long pause), 3(long pause) 4(long pause). The exact same beat applies to every single combat song in the franchise, and this leit motif can be heard clearly in all of Dante and Vergil's mob and boss battle themes. My theory is that this underlying base theme is Sparda's theme so it makes sense why Dante and Vergil would both hear it constantly everywhere they go in every battle.
Dante was actually designed as a character in Resident Evil. This explains why he knew Claire, as in Claire Redfield. The Game Programmers decided to make a game just for him. I can just imagine Dante doing his thing in Resident Evil, ah those are the days.
