Out of all the "short musical" or "short fun" moments of Dante from the DMC series. I liked DMC4's Shakespeare Play parody, I just find it really hilarious.
The "Devil Arms" plays a huge part in the DMC series. Devil arms, as their name suggest are weapons/artifacts that has...Demonic powers. Either they are items that are imbued WITH Demonic Powers, or they are the Souls of Powerfull Demons(or Demi-Gods) that was shaped into the form of a Weapon/artifact. In DMC3 every Demon Boss that Dante's beat and recognise him as Superior( Demons have a strict Hiarchy, where they only ankownledge the ones Stronger than them), turns into a Devil Arm that serves him. Its also a way for Demons to escape Death, since time isn't of much importance to them, being in an Devil Arm and waiting to be released ain't much of a big deal to them. Usually Devil Arms either have Biblical names or from Mythology, Alastor in DMC1 being one of the Dukes of Hell in Solomon's Book and Ifrit being the Westernized version of the Efreet, wich is a Middle-eastern Fire Genie/Demon. DMC3 Beowulf(the guy with the Wings of light that gets killed by Vergil and turns into gauntlets/boots) is from the Nordic legends and Poems of the same name "Beowulf" Agni & Rudra are Indian in origines, they both mean simply means "Fire" and "Courage" in Sanskrit. Nevan (the electric Vampire Lady that turns into a Demon Guitar) is a derivation of Nemain, the Irish Goddess of Frenzy and War, while her whole shtick is based around "Leanan sídhe" ,wich is also an Irish legend, some type of Irish Vampiric Fay. Cerberus is...well based on the 3 Headed Hellhound of the same name, Guardian of Tartarus in Greek Mythology.
The lesser demons just turn into red orbs. The greater demons turn into a weapon. Either way they can't go back to hell cause the gate is closed, so just wait as a weapon until some mortal picks you up so you can possess them and get a new body. Too bad Dante and Trish keep collecting them. Good luck possessing those two.
@@shdwfxgamerz7667 don't know if what I am about to say its right, but here it goes, when demons are defeated and they accept his rival is stronger they turn into devil arms, or just die. Maybe it was because Nero is more human than demon (Dante is human 50/50 demon and Nero is human 75/35 demon? ) but they didn't recognize him as superior, and also they left before being "defeated". The powers nero gained was only parts or fragments of the demons that nero forcefully absorbed in his arm (like that part of the tail of the snake lady, or that "girl" from the frog) . That's it for the powers nero got. As for Dante, in this case he didn't get any weapons either, the weapons he gets are weapons that he already gained before, but trish gave them to the order so she could infiltrate(the order used those weapons to give energy to the hell gates) , so he just recovers them.
Yes, that was lady, with a new design. It's been around 20 years since we saw her last so it makes sense she looks different. Dante definitely has a lot more fun with what he does than Nero, Nero is strong enough to get the job done, but he has to take things seriously or he could die. Dante is so strong he can afford to mess around with his enemies as there are only a handful in the entire series that are a genuine threat to him. This gets reflected in their fighting styles as well, Nero is aggressive and straight forward while Dante is style and chaos. Honestly the funniest thing about DMC 4 is that, when you think about it, Dante could have ended the whole thing in like an hour if he'd wanted to but instead held back to see what Nero could do.
Yep, and now think about how much chaos and innocent deaths Dante's carelesness has caused. Then people only blame Vergil for indirectly killing humans huh? And the reason for Lady's new looks is hidden in the words "fan service". Fits Trish but not her.
When you are as OP as him wouldn't you do the same? The only ones who seem to be able to keep up with him are Nero and Vergil. And the latter is considered dead at this point.
The "Suitcase" is literally an weapon that can morph into (and im not kidding here) 666 different types of weapons. you two hit the nail on the head about his swagger and how Dante appeals to the audience and how he feels mature and immature at the same time but neither in a bad way. And I know they don't show much of it in these games but when you go through the Anime series, the small amount of comics they made for it. and the games itself. you kinda realize that Dante has endured a lot and most is because of his father's sins. And I think at this point in the story; he has just accepted it and no longer questions "Why?" but "What now?" lol and the Lady who was talking to them about her jobs and trying to convince him to go after The Order was....well was Lady!! Glad you two enjoy it :P even with the musical number. and I won't say why yet but try to remember Angus onwards. while not a major factor or part. but a reference to him will appear later in your adventure through Devil May Cry.
@@Ctrekoz Yeah it was pretty much only shown or told in the small comic that it was 666. but I've only seen 7-10 at best. plus it was never brought back in DMC5. which sucked.
I love the Dante and Agnus cutscene, it's like Dante saw him acting all melodramatic and theatrical and decides to imitate and mock him in an over-the-top way thinking it would piss Agnus off, but instead Agnus just treats it as normal and continues, and from that point forward Dante just keeps hamming it up harder and harder to make Agnus break and he never does
Glad you enjoyed the greatest cutscene in gaming history. I've always assumed that whatever crazy they both had triggered at the same time, and without words... they knew... it was Shakespeare time.
DMC 4 was the first of the series I played when I was a kid, and my highly religious mom wouldn't let me buy it initially because you were "personifying a demon". I pulled up the Hamlet cutscene on youtube and she laughed so hard she relented and allowed me to play it

In terms of comedy and wackiness DMC4 Dante is the best. But in when it comes to pure badassery, DMC5 Dante nails it. Great reaction as always! Can’t wait to see you two play DMC5!
Fun fact: That wicked suitcase weapon is none other than Pandora's Box, and the fact that opening it creates a whole slew of mayhem that is perfect for the Devil May Cry universe. 😈
@@artistanthony1007 and it’s a suitcase which is a box. It’s called Pandora but meant to be Pandora’s Box. One of the forms the suitcase can release is “Hope”, the bright light shining move where Dante opens it on the ground. Again, a reference to Pandora’s Box.
In the DMC 4 Novels Dante apparently used all these Devil Arms before even referencing the suitcase when he accidently looked into it and it actually harming him enough for him to be cautious of it in the future. The suitcase is not a demons soul in weapon form from what we know (though its certainly the most likely method or created via gilgamesh metal) and was actually made by a renowned Demon Devil Arm crafter named Machiavelli. This also implies that many Devil Arms are actually quite common in the DMC universe.
An interesting thing about Dante's sense of humor. In 3 and 1, he was being confronted with the losses that defined his whole life. If he seems more chipper here... well it'll aaaallll come together in good time. 😏
Yep, Agnus's likeabilty points skyrocketed here! Honestly, despite evil shit, Agnus was amazing. His design has so much unique points, so damn charismatic. Like his stutter, exremely buff build for a nerd, skin color, the way his personality can shift from a nerd, to a coward, to someone concerned and obedient (with Sanctus), to a truly menacing villain (mostly from voice, but also remember how easily he stopped Nero's swing after Containment Room fight?). Lots of temperament! Big praise to the voice actor, TJ Storm, and I suppose devs took him as a body model too - look at the build of that man damn, Agnus is freaking packin'... Both ugly and hot, lol. Shame he worked for the bad guys, but you can't deny that he was a true genius, and his biggest interest was science. Like pretty much every supernatural thing (and some natural like swords) the Order of the Sword has is the work of Agnus, there's so much INCREDIBLE stuff he's done, and even Nero's sword is his work, how ironic. Or what about Ascension Ceremony for example? What about time-manipulation devices? Hell Gates? All these artificial demons? Freaking laser barriers? It's mindblowing honestly, Agnus is op in terms of scientific intelligence (well to be *_completely_* honest all this is for the sake of a varied gameplay, it's simplier to not explain too much and just say "It's all Agnus", but still). Apparently even knight's uniform is designed by him, though no good source? I get why he liked to feel powerful, but doesn't seems like his main goal was to be a ruler of the world or whatever. His death is a shame, he was fun and interesting, but yeah, a villain. I mean dying after providing one of the very best cutcenes in the game, also in such a beautiful way (the note falling on his face, gasping and turning his head slightly, no gore involved as well) - a good deal for him. Credo's death on the other hand (beautiful but meaningless and undeserved)... Well, at least Agnus has a daughter who inherited a lot of his traits (not "evil coward" ones, thankfully). And his music theme is amazing. Annoying boss fight tho, at least it's a good looking and funny spectacle (I mean the way he fights, not the cutscene with Dante :D, it's amazing as well, one of the very best in the game). Summoner boss concept is interesting but yes, annoying.

DMC4 Dante IMO is the Best Dante, He’s pretty much the same as he was in DMC3 but more Older and Experienced, so he’s more Wiser and he’s like a mentor figure to Nero, so he’s got something to do and is not just a Plot Device Also Iove his Costume in DMC4👌
The term you're looking for is "fine wine"; the longer the refinement, the sweeter the conclusion. That is indeed Lady. She's left her srs bsns parts behind and embraced the fact she's still around to enjoy all the parts of life that are on offer. She's still a giant nerd, though. After Itsuno swooped in and saved a couple projects from almost certain disaster, he was basically given carte blanche to make any game he wanted. He gave Capcom four distinct pitches, all of them complete projects. Capcom liked them so much they said he would simply get to choose and as long as each made money he could continue making them in whatever order he picked. So far the order has been DMCV and Dragon's Dogma Two. In an interview he stated DMC fans have waited more than enough (12 years!) for a new installment and also as an apology for DmC: DMC (which we don't talk about) which might perhaps be the worst reboot in history (aside from Star Trek Discovery). In recent years Capcom had completely diverged from this style of game and presentation, and it definitely hurt their bottom line.
Man dmc4 has some of my favorite devil arms in the series. Here's some info on them if you're interested. Gilgamesh AKA Shock Steel: An armor-like weapon which can absorb inorganic material and turn it into steel. It's techniques can be empowered via thrusters as well as drills and saws on the gauntlets and greaves respectively. The mask is thought to prevent the user from breathing in the fumes from the thrusters. Pandora AKA Calamitous Ordnance: A briefcase capable of changing into 666 different forms some of which are only accessible by filling it's disaster gauge. The forms shown in the cutscene are #262: Jealousy, #124: Hatred, #422: Grief, #594: Argument, and #666: Omen. Lucifer AKA Inexhaustible Sword: Capable of creating an endless amount of demonic swords which can hover in the air, be launched as projectiles, or be wielded normally. The swords will explode after a short time or at the user's command (such as a clap or a thrown rose).
16:00 This the "Pandora's Box" Devil Arm, a Magical Artifact that can shapeshift into 999 different weapons(evne tho in the game you can use only like the 4-5 showcased in the cutscene) The "Last" one where it shine bright light, been an Area of effect that represents "Hope" (according to the legend of the Box, evne tho the Gods told Pandora to NOT open it, curiosity got the best of her and she opened it, letting all the misery of the World that was sealed in the box, escape back into the world, but before it would slip out and completly vanish, she closed the Box, making Sure that Hope would still be left in it)
Dante is definitely a character that ages like fine wine. He just gets cooler with each entry. He can be dork but he's got a lot of charm and charisma that you can't help but get on board with him. I love that while nero is cool in his own right; Dante just casually shows him up by actually finishing off the bosses that got away and destroying the hell gates with ease and style. Almost like he's putting on a show for old players and telling new players, "this is how it's done". The girl in the office was lady. As you've noticed the sex appeal for this game was raised to the roof. All the good characters are HOT in this game. The devs are definitely boob people lol. This game has my favorite designs for the characters.
Dante's innuendo-laden speech during his Lucifer demonstration was apparently ad-libbed by Reuben Langdon, Dante's VA and mocap actor. Bonus: the Japanese dialogue is apparently even more explicit, owing to Toshiyuki Morikawa having experience voicing in BL (boy's love) eroge (erotic games).
When you play as Dante in DMC4, you play through Nero's levels backwards, with a few changes. The reason for this is that DMC4 was rushed and some of the story and gameplay was cut. You can read the full DMC4 story through the novel, Deadly Fortune, which was made by the same writer.

Pandoras box (the suitcase gun) was such an overpowered weapon I would avoid using it just to have a challenge,I also love the tagline for it 666 guns in one.

Well, here ya go. And yes, Dante already knows Dagon is there. From the smell 13:37 - Not even close you oversized toad 13:43 - Told ya its the smell 14:21 - Yeah, we know Tahm Kench, Dante sees it as target practice 14:45 - Pandora, a briefcase that has 666 different weapon forms and has its own meter for the more strenuous forms. Only 7 out of the 666 forms are only used in the game. And one of them is opening the briefcase 14:57 - And here comes the target practice 15:16 - Form 262: Jealousy, the gatling gun. Usually in game its a jump attack 15:26 - Form 124: Hatred, triple barreled bazooka, this and along 262 and 2 more are the basic moves 15:34 - Form 422: Grief, tri-blade shuriken, one of 3 Gunslinger moves. the next one is gonna show along with the last one 15:49: Form 594: Argument, the floating missile battery. Another Gunslinger move, can fire 1 or fire them all(if your Disaster Gauge is full). And yes it can float in game as long as you jump and have Gunslinger style on while activating Pandora. And yes, i have the same expression as you did when i saw Form 594 16:08 - Form 666: Omen. Yes, its actually a move in Gunslinger 16:16 - No cutscene about the deadly gas he needs to get out of, how Dante destroys the dice and basically a "i dont have time to play" notion, and the intro to the Basilisk, a man made demon dog that shoots its head like a projectile. 16:26 - You could say that again Berial 16:35 - How did Berial not noticed that? 16:55 - Yeah. you wont be avenging shit Berial. 17:05 - Form 013: Epidemic, the bow-gun 17:41= That's his last resort folks, turning into an oversized flaming demon Pacman. And gets one shotted by Dante 18:10 - Lucifer, a demonic shoulder pack that holds infinite amounts of explosive sword darts. A really complex yet flamboyant weapon for Dante 18:18 - And here we go, one of Dante's moments of being Dante. Yes the whole demo is an innuendo to the big bang boom. And yes the rose is included in the weapon, you can see it when you equip it, it appears in Dante's mouth. So extra of him. The next goofy moment is coming up next 19:15 - Yes, Dante and Agnus trying to out-Shakespear each other. And its over the top af 21:45 - And now we see Agnus getting schooled by Dante about being human.................. 22:25 - ................. and subsequently shooting him AND his research notes 23:00 - 15/10 Performance from our boi Dante 23:45 - And now Yamato's back in proper hands 24:00 - And yes, he can manage to replicate his own version of Vergil's moves And now the final act is near, dont worry Dante's got this.
Yes that other girl is Lady. I also recommend y’all to watch the Devil May Cry anime it’s dubbed in English too so you don’t have to read subtitles. The anime also explains how Trish and Lady know each other.
Lucifer is a unique Devil Arm as its specifically stated to be from the soul of a powerful demon in the novels, unlike the others. Lucifer was a King of another portion of hell like Berial. Dante apparently forced Lucifer into submission, turning his soul into a Devil Arm, otherwise a demon like Lucifer would never lend his power. Dante can use an infinite reserve of exploding spikes with Lucifer.
@@artistanthony1007 Forehead Symbols don't outright give a sign of power, Argosax, Pluto, Beowulf are examples of this. Even common Devil Arms like the Ice Cerberus nunchucks are capable of contending against Demon King level beings when used by the right person.
There's a dmc anime that dmc5 made canon. Many fans didn't like it because there wasn't any 'Styles'. But it does expand on Dante a little bit more. Keep in mind there's also other canon media but that can be summed up quickly. 1) Dante watched his mother get killed when she hid him in a closet by demons. The demons wanted revenge against Sparda. So they tried to kill the family. 2) Dante assumed he was the only survivor till dmc3 where he saw Vergil alive. 3) Dante was stronger than Vergil as children. But Dante hated and rejected his demon side till most of dmc3. 4) Lady gives Dante the best gigs. If it's too hard she usually uses him for her own gain, like here. But Dante tends to remain broke because of the damages he has to pay for, usually to teach people a lesson. Like here with Nero. Dante always held back in Nero and let him do the work till he couldn't at the cost of the city. 5) Dante's favorite guns come from a human master smith Neil, she passes away due to old age. 6) Dante and Vergil each get a sword from Sparda, Rebellion and Yamato. 7) Dante admitted Vergil has more skill than him with Yamato. 8) The reason Vergil surpasses Dante in dmc3 until the very end is because of their life after childhood. Dante rejected what he is and got lazy. Vergil survived going through hell and almost dying many times. This changed him to might make right. In the end of dmc3 Dante unlocked his power and while Vergil trained longer and had more skill. In that one day Dante surpassed him through his unfair power and his human will. 9) Watch DMC4 special edition scenes, where is shows a bit more. This is pretty much all events the games won't directly talk about but other media. There's other characters that will be mentioned in dmc5 from other media like the anime. But I think these are the main events for Dante specific.
I love how much you guys enjoyed the stageplay dialouge intro. Great stuff. Also if you think Dante is getting sexier with age, I can't wait till you get to 5 :D

The thing I like about dmc4 is the special edition where you get to play as Vergil,Trish and lady! In the original release in 2008 you could only play as Nero and Dante so I’m glad Capcom decided to give people the opportunity to play as them!
The sheer mood difference between Nero and Dante is always the best thing when I play this game. For Nero, everything he knew in life was a lie, he embraces his demonic side, and almost loses the woman he loves For Dante, it’s an average Monday
Dante in lore he's so much stronger than most demons he only need his guns and with devils ( the bosses) he only need a few swings of sword to kill them
Gilgamesh doesn't technically have a specific form besides its obvious metallic and reddish complexion, it can move around and harden anywhere the user wills it and greatly amplify their brute attack power. Kind of like nanomachines.
I love this game so much lol. Not even JUST the fun story and great characters, but the gameplay really stepped it up a notch from previous entries in the series too (and it all comes to a head to culminate in DMC5 with just the top of the tops). Nero in particular has some really cool mechanics with how you utilize his arm in combat, though Dante's fluid style-switching and arsenal of weapons was more free and accessible than it had ever been before in this. Great game all around, style AND substance both. And yeah, that was Lady in the flashback. She's not a little girl anymore lol. I like Lady, but Trish is just...hoo boy lol. I even generally prefer brunettes over blondes (not saying something as shallow as hair color is a breaker for a woman's value to me but I like what I like lol), but Trish just freakin sizzles with the black leather and uhh...yeah, the bouncy bits lol. I'm more of a bum fellow myself, but she definitely has assets worth appreciation lol. I think the higher emphasis on boobs over butts is kind of a Japanese cultural thing too, obviously people are individuals and are into their own thing but as a general thing Japanese culture tends to favor the chest lol. Nothin wrong with that, I don't discriminate lol. One of the things that cracks me up a bit and that I just love about this game is how the first half of the story has Nero zipping around fighting all these demons and crazies that have a big scuffle/ruckus before the bad guys limp off with injured pride...while Dante's section of the game is working backwards through the areas Nero already covered and finishing up all the fights Nero left incomplete lol. The only demon boss Nero actually killed was Baal (frosty anglerfish frog with nympho lures), and he had a ton of his brothers so there was still plenty left for Dante to mow down with his new gun lol. That weapon btw, is called "Pandora" and while its base form is of a suitcase (lol get it, Pandora's Box) its whole schtick is that it has 666 different forms and configurations to serve as different weapons. You only get maybe 7 or 8 of them in the actual game, but it IS a really flexible and cool weapon. Lucifer (the mantis-y looking shoulder armor that Dante gets all pervy with during his intro "play with the new weapon" scene) is pretty freaking cool too. Just an interesting concept, where it generates a limitless number of little needle swords that you can pin into enemies and leave them floating in the air, with a final ability to make them all detonate at once wherever they may be. The moveset flows like a dance and that sucker can do some outlandish damage if you can spam out a ton of the swords and blast the crap out of enemies. Absolute boss-killer. So yeah! DMC4 is coming to an end...and I cannot WAIT to see you guys experience the last entry in the series so far. It really is a love letter to fans of the franchise in pretty much every way, and takes the best bits of all the games before it to wrap it all up in a nice bow while still moving forward. About as close to perfection as one may dare to hope for. :)
High praise for what’s to come in DMC 5! We look forward to it. And yeah Trish is definitely high on sex appeal here as a vixen but that fits with her where as lady is more woman in charge, but still damn sexy as well. And of course Dante has sex appeal in spades 😎🤟
I have played a lot of fighting games and when it comes to hack and slash dmc is the most technical game I have ever played imo. There are just many ways of using the characters combat mixed with game mechanics exploits. That's why learning to play at an advanced level is extremely rewarding in dmc games. Dante in 4 is just all kinds of crazy fun with his seemingly endless variety in combat, and like you said neros combat in 5 is a massive step up from 4
one aspect I like a lot about this game is that you can go through it a second time, and play as Lady in Nero missions, and Trish in Dante missions. there isn't really a story per say... it's kind of just for fun, but they are both fully fleshed out characters and Hella fun to play as. Lady comes with her guns, machine guns, shotguns, and her signature bazooka grappling hook "Katline ann" and works kind of like if Dante only had his guns, but with a full moveset extended around them. Trish uses the Sparda sword, complete with it's weird scythe form thing, but also uses a lot of lightning magic and karate moves like she did in DMC1.
Random fun fact, Dante, who is constantly broke, tends to sell those Devil Arms he collects to pay his bills, and keep up with his love of pizza and strawberry sundaes.
The girl in white in the flashback was most definitely lady from dmc3. She goes through another pretty big change in 5 but they preemptively announce lady when she appears later in the game.
I cannot express how much Nero shouting Kyrie annoyed me. Weird that they are some of the best written couples in gaming when she basically has maybe 10 appearances total in whole DMC series. She grounds him, keeps him sane. And he keeps her safe from results of his in-built trouble magnet. Personally, I think it is a great shame Kyrie`s brother Credo did not turn into an awesome weapon for Dante to use saving his sister when he was dying, he was a relatively high level demon at that point.
Also idk if anyone has said yet but creepy scientist guy that turned into a bug had a daughter that helps donte and nero a lot in DMC5 and she’s funny 😂😂
Yes the woman that told him about the order was Lady. Much like Dante she has matured much in the years that passede since DMC 3 and is no longer the Girl that trys to do what right while beeing torn apart on the inside because of her father. Now she is one of the few Humans that is capable of hunting demons and usually doing so solo, much like dante but without his superhuman abilyties. she only contacts Dante when there is some major sh** about to go down that would affect humanity as a hole and is overwise more than capable of handling and holding her own against the forces of hell. In the 12 episode Anime to the franchise she also "forces" him to do grunt work for her from time to time because the irresponsible Dante who mostly lives on Pizza and strawberry sundaes isn't exactly one to leave areas standing on his jobs, meaning he has to pay damages and is constantly short on money that she lends him and he is rarely able to pay back what he owes^^

24:58 the reason why Dante rejected her help...is because Luce and Umbra dont have efect in the Saviour(are Sparda original pistols....created by Nil Goldstein...the same creator of Ebony and Ivory.). Trish without the Sparda cant do much damage, beside her thunder magic cannot afect Saviour because its a Thunder Entity.
When you're done with DMC4, go watch the DMC4 special edition cutscenes. Litteraly 2 of them are important to the canon story: The first one and the last one

As others have pointed out, DMC4 was rushed, which is why Dante is the one to kill Echidna and Berial and fights a Bael reskin in the form of Dagon. Presumably, if it wasn’t, he would’ve fought the demon forms of the weapons he got: Gilgamesh, Pandora, and Lucifer. Also, I think Gloria was meant to be her own character (and probably a boss) but she was repurposed into Trish’s disguise. I wish her design wasn’t wasted so soon, but it at least gave Trish more screen time. Yes, that was Lady. She was the one who gave them the job. That cutscene also blows a hole in the depressed Dante theory, since he acts happy and jokey with Trish and Lady before he was even aware of Nero’s existence, his supposed turning point in happiness. I also wish Trish joined Dante for the final battle. Would’ve been sick to see. Idk why, but this compilation is missing a few minor cutscenes. Everything else was kept in before this.
If you love how Dante looks in this game, you'll love how he looks like hobo dad Dante in 5 yet has that same swagger. Also yes. Somehow hobo boomer dad Dante is even hotter
Don't forget Nero's new to this demon slaying where's Dante got tons of experience over 3 games fyi can't wait to see your reaction to DMC 5 great work keep it up P.S I've never played DMC 5 but I know how cool Dante gets but I won't spoil anything for you
Kinda makes sense when you think about it Nero in DMC4 is strong enough to fight powerful demons...but he never does deliver a killing blow. Him being much easier to play than Dante is basically showing people what these bosses can do before they fight these guys for real Aka when Dante comes back to finish the job
