When I saw Chicken first time I was "shocked" like wtf little Griffon!? Then Panther!? I was like wait what Shadow!? And them Golem form of Nightmare! And so many signature moves from Devil May Cry 1! Aaaaahhh V is too fun character for this reason alone. Also this theme's new version is pure SSS SICKENING SEXY STYLISH!
I actually knew Griffon was like Griffon from DMC1/2 because of his attacks. He did a row lightning and I thought to myself, "that's just like Griffons attack in his boss fight...wait hold on" funny thing is though, I distinctly remember it because of DMC2 the Despair Embodied had Griffon as a part of it and I remember shooting at him while walking to dodge those rows of lightning. DMC2 was my 1st DMC game, I played it alot and it got me into the rest of series, I had the biggest grin on my face when I made the connection on who Vs familiars are, and I didn't even need to play the whole game or look it up, just knew from good memories.
Devil may cry 1: "Oh god not that fucking giant chicken bastard again" "OH GOD NOT THE DARKNESS SABERTOOTH TIGER AGAIN!!!!" "OH GOD NOT...THAT ANNOYING CAMERA AGAIN!!" Devil may cry 5: "Oh.....oh my god no they're dead? for good?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! BUT THEY WERE SO GODDAMNED COOL!!! I WANT MY DEMONIC IAGO AND CREW BACK!!!!"
hey btw, thanks to your mashup, I've been inspired to make 2 different ones for Nightmare on my channel! Go check them out if you can, and I gave you credit and a shoutout, too! ^^
Because that's not the same villian. It's actually the same voice actor as vergil. Griffon was a manifestation of Vergils nightmares as Nelo Angelo, so of course this new form would reflect that in terms of V when Vergil slit himself in two, which worked out to a funny, memorable way. Quite brilliant actually. But I do admit, the distance between this griffon and dmc1 griffon especially regarding the intensity of the themes leaves almost a sad memory regarding the atmosphere of the original game and this. I hope Kamiya is having a blast at platinum, and they do eventually work together with capcom one day. They're apparently not on bad terms and platinum would be open to work with capcom. I look forward to that day.
@@DkKombo Yeah pretty forced and needless retcon. Griffon was clearly meant to be a creation and servant of Mundus and everything in 1 points to that being the case. But was changed for 5 'cos everything has to revolve around Vergil.
@@darthkahn45 Yeah I see your point. But I see it as not so much a retcon as it is more of an "adding" to the experience. Everything from the remixed theme to how griffon is presented is meant to both be a reference and his own character. It's not getting rid of the original as this is literally a demon born from the image of griffon. I see it as purely a creative asset to add to a character like V but not taking away from the original. He went his way and was gone, as this game WAS about Vergil and I will admit while adding some cool creative liberties and done pretty well, did limit the scope somewhat in their design, which is reflected in this attitude with griffon from both you and I. And I get what you're saying in regards to them being the OG awesomeness, especially after all this time. But by that same creative curse and blessing, we can bring this back as well since, for better or for worse, we got that out of the way. Now, since we do got Vergil on his way as dlc (pretty much all but confirmed at this point) having his story continue in the underworld with dante and meeting a resurrected griffon, phantom, and nightmare as well as some repeated villains from the franchise to kinda hint that a new threat might be coming in the future game ala kingdom hearts secret boss style (lots of similarities between the two series btw. Look up no heart boss fight and you'll see how the resemblance to urizen, it's actually pretty cool.) Which would be perfect because, and stay with me here, "DANTE, I WILL RETURN! AND I WILL RULEEEE THIS WOOOORLD! Yeah, and when you come back give my regards to my son will ya?" NOT HIS SON, BUT HIS NEPHEW! Idk what do you think of that potential solution?
@@DkKombo Oh man from the moment I first finished DMC1 I have waited for that line to come to fruition and the moment I saw Nero I knew he was the one I'd been waiting to see for all those years. Even though it's not the route I'd have liked I'd still love it if Nero was the one to confront Mundus next. Also is it really all but confirmed about Vergil being playable? I know a half finished build of him was found in the game but I hadn't heard anything since.
