Someone once tossed out the idea of Raidou 3 being made by the Yakuza developers and I've been fascinated by that idea ever since.

Yup, that was definitely me. I used to be SUPER active on various MegaTen GameFAQs boards in the later 00's/early 10's

Years ago I actually wrote out an entire plot for a Persona 4 Cooking Mama style game that would not only act as a way to have Aika Nakamura actually appear in the series, but to give her a Persona as well. So trust me when I say that joke was written out of love, not malice XD

It's fine. The biggest difference is Dahn dies instead of Akane, so he never gets to become savior of the Mushibito, but that doesn't really affect Raidou very much.

@@strain42 As sympathetic as I became of Dahn although I thought him to be a complete jackhole at first, which obviously the game wanted us to, I think I just might slightly prefer the Law ending which is most definitely a SMT first for me.

The main thing putting off the DDS2 video is that I want to record a fresh playthrough where I have a completed save file in DDS1 and that means beating Demi-Fiend, so uhhhhhh...no promises ^^;;

This is the first time I have seen someone else comment on how after reading the Lone Marebito, a Raidoj 3 doesn't feel necessary anymore.

@@kuraux56s59 In a way I would have wanted Lone Marebito to be Raido 3! But honestly I really want the Devil Summoner series to go back to the Modern/Futurepunk era of DS1 and SH (Which Soul Hackers 2 seems to be doing!). I loved SMT 1930 Boogaloo! But I always preferred DS storyline of "outsiders getting dragged into the Secret Supernatural world" that those first two games did! (Sad SH2 won't be doing that as all Party Members are Summoners already and Ringo who isn't "traditionally" human!) Raido is my least favorite of the protagonists as "his own character!" (As his own character he's leagues beyond "I'm the Goddess possessing my GF Sidekick" protagonist of Soul Hackers! At Least "Kouji" or the poor fool forced to be Kouji grew into his own character that even the guy who murdered him Sid started to respect him and refer to him by name once he realized he was in Kouji's body as a sign of respect on how much of a nuisance to his plan you've been for a newbie Devil Summoner LOL. But it was clear YOU were the Main Character with Rei being your Nuking Side Kick" Not that I hated Nemissa or SH in general I'm replaying it on my 3DS now. But I'm using my logic on why as much as I like Joker on his own! As a Protagonist he falls behind Yu from 4 who is behind my number one Minato AND Minako of 3/3P as the issue I feel is they've yet to get past the "writing your protagonist to be more to YOUR personality as a Player Avatar then their own! Which is why P2 isn't on this as both Tatsu and Maya have their personalities fleshed out in the game's THEIR not the main Avatar in! I seriously cannot make decision in EP that Maya of IS would make when faced with them! And Vice Verse with Tatsuya in IS based a SLIGHT bit on his EP self! And P1 Protag doesn't even GET AN ENTRY as I'm still trying to finish the Manga of P1! But you get my idea right! Joker has abit too much of his own will to work as a Silent Protagonist...which is why Ringo isn't Silent in SH2 I guess)

@@paulman34340 To be honest, I really wish Megaten had done away with Silent MCs long ago. As for example if the MC of the original Devil Summoner. Jun'ya. Wasn't silent, he would have a far more detailed and really cool arc about carving his own identity even though he is now in the body of someone else. And, in my opinion. One of the best aspects of the Raidou manga are his interactions with his demons. As I loved how here they are basically party members and actual characters, instead of expendable units.

@@kuraux56s59 Really, I would have been happier if they could talk in a "Commander Shepard" manner! I found how Mass Effect did the "Player Avatar" a far better direction then the Silent Protagonist. ESPECIALLY if your going to give them Personalities to go with that "Silent!" Like Yu and Joker! But then in a way, choices should be more gameplay impactful instead of window dressing do I say "I love Pie" or do I say "I Love Cake!" And yeah, I loved what they did with the Demons in the Manga as well (what I enjoyed about the Demons in the Raidou games was just how expanded personality they could be as shown in SMT 3 which was centered more on them anyway! I'll say this, I always had a laugh whenever I unsummon Jack Frost with that derpy "WHAAAA" laugh he gives when you do that!)

@@paulman34340 That doesn't sound like a bad idea when dealing with a silent-ish MC. Though I still prefer MCs with a defined personality. And yeah, the demons in the Raidou duology have a LOT of personality.
