So much great symbolism in this show. When akira transforms the evil and innocence combine to form the ultimate weapon against evil. Notice how he is under the cross and depicted under it various times to convey that he is basically a force of good using the power of evil for the light hence it shows him fighting under the cross(good) vs the actual evil devil's. The end where Satan says he made his greatest enemy says it all as he is the root of evil saying that against the ultimate force of good in the show, Devilman.

Satan isn’t entirely malicious in this series, he doesn’t say he “made his greatest enemy” because akira is strong and he can’t beat him, but because he loves Akira and unlike him, Akira fights for humanity which creates a barrier between them ultimately ending in the other’s death

When rewatching the scene again, the dead bird demon on top of ryo 1:45 seem to be a forshadowing of ryo being satan. Ryo fallen down and the dead bird demon's wings being visible as well connects with fallen angels, satan is one of them.

The best anime on earth, rewatching it 9 times and more to come. Every scene has so much symbolism and meaning throughout THE WHOLE anime, the ending, god, the ending was amazing, just that "why am I the only one talking" ahhg it was beautiful, the most tragic love story of all time. Edit: It's been 2 years and I'm at rewatch count 19 Edit: rewatch count is at 27 now

This anime sent me through a loop. Basically I watched the first two episodes skipped to the end then watch the middle cause I couldn’t emotionally take it. Then I started reading the original work then watching or reading the spin offs, ovas, and just man I still can’t believe this series I love back in 2018. Recuerdo cuando lo vi con mi hermano, el capítulo era lento y muy explicativo, casi y lo ponía de aburrido, pero cuando ya estaba listo para desecharlo y dejarlo en el capítulo 1,sale está escena 0:58 . Ahí me di cuenta que lo que estaba apunto de ver en los siguientes capítulos no sería una serie más del montón, sino una obra maestra.
