Buy devon the king why do u think Levan was not able to flashpin ermes... Was he not doing it on a right Postion bczz if that he couldn't use his full force against ermes Or there was some else ..i want to know ur vies about question
Devon is the only reason I ever became interested in armwrestling. He brought eyes to it that would have never watched a match. He's a beast and he's always entertaining.
i see the same thing.. the first armwrestling that poop it out for me it was one fight of him against Todd, and Larrat´s appeared as a real show man and took my attention to the sport..
It's called "Thumb Lifting"....Pshhh. He Is the current record holder and 217lb thumb lift and press. Nobody would even think about challenging that thumb
the man, the myth, the legend. I mean it actually don't matter if you like this sport or not, if you are human being you can't dislike the sheer commitment and heart of Devon, we are with you all the way bro keep teaching! hats off!
Yeah, the guy who beat him at 4:59 should have the honor stripped because he's basically cheating. There's no bend in his arm: he's just basically hanging on his arm.... You shouldn't have to lift up a person's entire body to arm wrestle. It's called "ARM" wrestling not "HUMAN LIFTING".
what does being a human have to do with an individuals position towards arm wrestling. don't give advice boy, you obviously think robots, aliens or whatever that's suppose to mean, has feelings towards arm wrestling
This video made me realize how old Devon has gotten at this point, jeez. He looks like my grandpa in one of the clips! Still a legend, and probably the GOAT of armwrestling.
Hey man, you really summed up Devon's loss of inside game from his 2008-2011 prime. I was aware of the surgery diminishing his abilities but not to that extent. Always thought he was an outside toproller guy.
Far be it from me to disagree with Larrat's conclusions on the matter, but I find it difficult to believe that his current style is superior to what he was doing back in 2008. He looked pretty much unstoppable back then. I do think that his current style is the best for him now, given his age and injuries, and a fine adaptation for him to have adopted. He just can't do what he was doing back then anymore, physically.
I don't think there is one superior style, this style suits Devon because of his height and length but for someone with a shorter arm and smaller hand like Todzilla you think rising against Devon would ever work? its about what your strengths are, so don't just blindly follow one style see what your body is better at.
What an amazing video man. It illustrates Devon's progression perfectly. People may argue what version of Devon is stronger. I will say that in 2023, where the super heavyweight division consists of guys being ridiculously overweight, were there is absolute lack of any meaningful restrictions and having 50-60 kg weight differences among competitors is absolutely a thing, and an absolutely ludicrous thing for any strength sport, Devon has found a lane, while also maintain ing a healthy example for the sport. You may like it or hate it, but if you hate it, the only option that remains is pretty much follow in Levan s footsteps for anyone who wants his title, drug overuse mixed with obesity. And for everyone out there who attempts it, it will be extremely short lived, Levans recent performance makes this very evident along with some common sense. Keep up the good work!
Good video but Devons last match with MMT at KOTT was 2021 not 2020. Also could be worth noting that in Devons recent match with Sandris he arm wrestled a bit more like he used to prior to his elbow surgery.
In my experience on the table rising and cracking the wrist is what works best for me. I had a shoulder injury that prevents me from doing vertical pressing with a full range of motion or from going very heavy in the vertical direction so I have to rely on outside arm wrestling, I'd say there's no 100%right answer on this subject.
exactly, I don't think there is one superior style, this style suits Devon because of his height and length but for someone with a shorter arm and smaller hand like Todzilla you think rising against Devon would ever work? its about what your strengths are, so don't just blindly follow one style see what your body is better at.
@@PerformanceEnhancingPancakes Completely understandable. You could mainly make your 1-2 minute videos like usual, but maybe slide in the longer videos here and there.
The fact that the strap is such a huge part of armwrestling, means side pressure will ALWAYS be relevant. It was relevant when irakli took Todd’s hand every time but still got smoked. It was relevant when Ermes lost his hand and wrist everytime but surged forward in the strap to make progress in levan. Side pressure is still king when everyone is tired. You have to have it.
@@mikeye4075 you’re clueless and don’t even pull. Back pressure negates side pressure. There’s always exceptions to each rule, but it doesn’t negate the rule.
Been a huge fan from the beginning. Call me crazy but I think what changed is that people started bringing more raw power to the table. The strength curve shot up exponentially. Guys like Dave Chafee, Irakli, etc have all changed the game. Devons always had phenomenal endurance and table IQ but it seems like the game is more about how much you can curl now than it used to be.
I love how everyone still talks about Devon losing to under the table Todd when he had injuries than came back and destroyed hold my breath under water todd
yes, I won't always be able to make videos like this, but I will try to start doing more long form content when I can! Glad you liked it brother, thank you for watching!
Controlling the high ground works for him because his forearm is so dang long. Derrick smith said Devon’s forearm is longer than his even by a little. Shorter forearm guys can’t copy that as well.
As a newer arm wrestler, I've been told that I pull 'like' Devon. That's a huge compliment and I that only means that watching him all the time has effected how I pull lol. I would say that for a newer arm wrestler you still need to be strong in ALL the fundamentals but controlling the high ground should absolutely be your focus in a match and in your practice. If you only have rise with weak pronation, cup, and side... you won't get the job done. You need to have it all but can focus on one specific area of attack, because the high ground and hand control can lead to the obvious outside options but height in a hook and even a press is not to be underestimated either.
I really do believe this is the future of the sport, I can beat all my friends under age 20 just by rising and pronation. I can pronate 30KG, wrist rise 25KG, and back pressure 30KG. Nobody can take my wrist and I intent to keep it that way. The hand matters most, and I even have plans for enlargement of that!
excellent video mate. It shows the journey from young champion to wise master, how he got his battle scars and how he came to his current understanding.
I was a happy hooker throughout middle school, and was never defeated. Skinny, tall, but able to hook into my pectoral strength. If I executed the hook within a tenth of a second, it was always a win. Clearly the dynamics have evolved. I have no idea what Devon's technique is about.
In my opinion the very best Armwrestling channel there is at the moment, the in depth analysis is really interesting! Would love to see a reaction video from Devon to this video in which he comments your analysis :D
Forgot to mention shoulder injuries, my right shoulder is trash now thanks to arm wrestling, I may have won the match that messed it up but fairly certain I lost in the long run
After watching Levan vs Ermes, i get more conviced that Devon only lost to Levan because of the bicep tear... Ermes gassed out Levan, and Ermes usually doest play the "long run". I think that devon strat would actually work if he hadnt tore his bicep. I also think his body simply doesnt handle his old style, and he completely understood it, and did the best adaptation ever. I think Levan is #1 in the world, but Devon comes #2 very closely. Ermes needs to armwrestle Devon so i can confirm my theory. Devon is going agaisnt Genady, and that match is going to be very enlightening to me, because im going to be able to see Devon again in the Super-weight div. Depending on how he does vs Genady, i think he can take Levan in the future one more time.
Agreed! Devon was able to get a small stop rnd one n you know for a fact he would've got a little more each rnd. Yes this match w Genadi will tell a lot but I believe Devon will take it. Genadi may get a pin or 2 but eventually be stopped. I think Devon will make another run for Levon next year!!
@@bradhackett4078 Completely agree. Levan is not taking care of his health. He is 34! I commented a few months ago that this sport is going to be a steroid competition if this continues like this... How will he be when hes 50? Quantity is not Quality.
