I guess man🤣. I guessed your paying for the luxury of having a more compact tool. I don’t mind the size of the 887. It’s a powerhouse as far as torque I think. But the 850s design is more appealing to most. Can’t go wrong with either one. Thanks for the comment brother. Take care
The 887 is power and the 850 is speed. In this one particular instance the math evened out, but there's proper applications for both of their individual strengths
@@lukenance1088 I'd think the 850's speed would be favored more with smaller fasteners and thinner lugs overall, where the 887 should power through more demanding thicker/harder stuff with it's lower rpm/higher torque setup. At least that's what it seems like to me
For sure bro. I might not always remember to put mine on but his safety is non negotiable 🤣. Could you imagine if they put the power from the 840 in the 850? I mean it really doesn’t lack in power, just be that much more awesome.
Anytime you add an extension it actually decreases the IPR so for a more accurate test make things more alike and drill the bolt straight. Must’ve been your left hand hehe! Cool video.
Hey buddy, I appreciate the kind words. Your exactly right though. This was just a messing around post. My son likes to see impacts head to head. He’s only 5 and he’s got the Milwaukee m18 Fuel Compact Impact Wrench🤣. Gonna have to get a little older before he gets the high torque 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Being a father is the best thing in the world brother. My son is my everything. Thanks for the comment. I really appreciate it. How old is your boy? Mine will be 6 in November
Is this a joke? Or another RU-vid clown show? If you want a real test use the same driver in both impacts impact sockets are heavier it helps the tool do its job all this was is another clown show and nobody cares which one is fastest experienced guys will pick the tool that best fits the job they do
It was neck and neck. They both have identical specs. If anything the 887 drove it just a fraction deeper. Considering the size of the 850 and it’s the Atomic line, I have nothing but respect for that thing. It’s a monster. Especially with the Powerstack. The 887 seems to be forgotten about and that sucks cause it’s a great impact. It carried some weight for Dewalt for a long time.
Some people hear have smooth brains the atomic version is about being more powerful the whole atomic series is about being compact which you can obviously see they succeeded
I like the new dewalt style and power. I own a few dewalt tools but not much. Heavily invested in m12 and m18 line. Ive been using them since they first came out, they have been heavily abused and still going strong.
Yeah Milwaukee is my go to man. It might not seem that way in my videos because all the Dewalt tools I’ve been testing. I love any brand that holds up. Tbh I don’t own one 12 volt tool. In your opinion what would be the best 12 volt platform to start with?
@@IMPACT-NATION I won’t call you weird. Unless you’re in a really tight space, I just don’t see the need for a super compact tool. The 887 is pretty light as it is.
Yeah the wrenches don’t have the rpm’s like the drivers bro. That’s what I’m use too. Nowadays they’re making impact drivers just as strong as impact wrenches. Kinda of a slower sustained torque on the wrenches. Idk why I just like the compacts for some reason. Surprised me though how good they drove that 1/2 inch x 10 lag. Appreciate you checking out the video brother👊
I was trying to decide between these two a couple months back and ended up buying the 887 because it seems more capable of doing delicate work and has basically the same power as the 850 plus it’s USA made! Yay! 🇺🇸 the only downside is it doesn’t fit inside a 5.5” (2x6 studs) wall space with a short screw but that’s a pretty rare situation I got into and I ended up being able to use tape to secure some backing for drywall patches so they didn’t fall through the wall when installing.
Yes sir. It definitely has almost identical power to the 850. The 887 was the flagship for a long time and I still see it used by many people on the job all the time. VCG gave them a bad rep cause they pushed it to hard in those aggressive test so of course it over heated. It’s not the most powerful and not the best but what is? Lol. If you got a great deal on it and it accomplishes the jobs you need it to then it’s a win brother
I own one. And yes it’s the most powerful dewalt impact on the market. Go through my videos if you get a chance brother. Have a few Dcf840 videos you might like
The atomic sucks. The xrp is far better. Used both daily for 6-7 months 8 hours a day. If you really want the best though it’s Milwaukee, but the dewalt xrp is a close second.
I like the dcf840 to be honest. That’s my favorite out of the bunch. I sold my atomic. It was cool at first but that bulky ass head got old quick 😂. I got the Milwaukee Gen 3 and that thing’s always been a beast👌
I have both, i yes upgraded to the Atomic is more compact y weight less, as remolded it helps a lot, & tide spaces, when become to fraiming or doing a repair.
@@IMPACT-NATION Thanks man, I really appreciate the support. It's pages like yours that inspired me to share the knowledge we gain in the trades with the world👍🏼🛠️
DCF887 had a longer adapter and non impact socket and DCF850 had stubby adapter and impact socket. DCF887 wins. Even with the handicap the DCF850 lost.
Now this is what I'm talking about teach them young and teach and teach him how to do the right way so they can find a proper job in the trades If they wanted to I did the same thing with my daughter I told her basic stuff she chose to go with cooking but she knows how to use a drill how to use I don't trust her with a circular saw or jigsaw utility blade I showed her how to use for certain applications great kid you got
Hey thanks buddy. I try to teach him to work with his hands brother. To know what an honest hard days work is. Yeah he’s sketchy still with a saw or a blade but he’s learning😂
Right?🤣🤣🤣. I had no idea until someone brought it to my attention couple weeks ago. Actually had a runny nose. Have bad allergies to pollen. Sucks. Well, shit happens 🤣🤣🤣. I’m just glad someone got a laugh out of it and was entertained by it. Thanks for checking it out. We appreciate ya. Take care
I know some channels have made the 887 look like trash by making it smoke. I’m wondering if they used it for something they shouldn’t have. What’s your opinion?
I only used the 887 a handful of times buddy. I liked it especially with the small Powerstack on it but I used the 850 for months and then the 840. 840 is my favorite and the only dewalt impact I have left
@@DiligentDave1966 never use the modes myself man. The self tapping modes are nice but I hardly drive self tappers. Never really been a fan of modes and speed controls to be honest. As long as the trigger is variable speed we’re good👌
Very close, will all due respect. I would suggest using both impacts sockets and hex driver. Or at at-least, same for both. Anyhow, you never know. For me I’m mi opinion there both. Great impacts. As always Hio! To both Brandon’s. God Bless 😇
Absolutely man. I think what people forget about the 850 is that’s it’s part of the Atomic line. Going from the 809 to this is a major upgrade. We all know the 887 is no slouch so just the fact the 850 can hang is a statement in itself. Thanks for the comment Juan. You know I always respect your opinions brother and advice as well. Have a Blessed day my friend ✊
He plugged his ears bro. It’s my son… of course I’m going to make sure he’s safe as a good and real father should 👌. Appreciate the concern though brother. Your absolutely right about hearing damage from an impact driver. Especially in an enclosed space
This is not a fair comparison to because the impact adapters do limit how much the impact gun does, because the longer one will decrease, but a shorter one will increase impacting
🤣. To make it even more disgusting ( my apologies) that was not saliva🤣. Allergy season. Pollen from the trees where I live. Nose runs like a faucet all the time. It’s been brought to my attention. Didn’t notice it initially lol. I just left it up. Makes it more genuine I guess🤷🏼♂️ lol. Again I’m so sorry you had to witness that. Definitely wasn’t intentional. I appreciate the comment
That extension might have slightly affected the test. Idk enough to make a difference but the same exact nut driver should be used on both to be more accurate
I definitely agree. This video is a few months old. I’ve since purchased a bunch of different driver bits. Need to duplicate this test with the same driver bits for sure. Thanks Edit: sockets and adapters I meant
Yes sir. I’ve tested them both and they are pretty identical power wise. A lot of people dropped the 887 for the 850 wich I completely understand. The 887 was a workhorse for years so it definitely earned some respect for Dewalt
I believe overseas the 850 is actually in the XR line up. I’ve seen pictures of an 850 with the XR logo. Yes the 850 is definitely a great impact. I loved it at first. Although being shorter from front to back it’s bulky at the wide head. Wich is fine cause going between studs and tight spaces it’s great for and it has power. I just prefer the 840
Appreciate you brother. Thank you for the kind words my friend. He’s more of a Makita fan but he goes with the flow. He’s a good boy and I’m honored to be able to say I’m his father
Kills me when people say there’s a performance upgrade from the 887 to the 850 😆. Hardly none whatsoever. The 850 is shorter but chunky around the motor housing but being a part of the atomic line it’s really impressive.
@@anthonymorris8891 your totally fine man. A lot of people didn’t like the 887. I thought it was pretty good especially putting the Powerstack compact battery on it but I still like the 850 better. To be honest my favorite dewalt is the Dcf840. That thing has some power to it and still compact size. I’m pretty sure the 887 runs warmer than the 850 though. The 887 is a lot older model that probably doesn’t have the thermal technology the newer ones have
