Thanks, man! I have one of these that has a VERY frayed power cord that I didn't want to toss out. Your video showed me how/where it connects to easily swap it out.

Cool, I have the same sander, but it's been trouble free so far. I'll keep this in mind if it ever starts acting up.

Thank you for the video. It’s not the repair topic I’m seeking, but good info in case I ever experience the issue you’re covering. What I’d like to know: Have you ever replaced the FEET - there are four - one at each corner? The actual foot component is white and has TWO feet.. so there are two foot components I need to replace. Here’s the part #: 144988-02 They act as shock absorbers and are attached to the platen, to which the sanding pad is attached. Two of the FEET - one on each assembly - are partially broken, causing excess vibration. They’re not expensive - $3.75 each - but I’ve never taken apart the sander beyond the platen (which I replaced last year). I always worry about invasive disassembly of power tools, where components (suddenly) pop out.

Hello Kevin, Nice fix and well explained... I agree about keeping tools going rather than buying new ones. Take care. Paul,,

It sounds like a first reader - The Sander That Wouldn't Stop. Tools may be increasingly cheaply made these days but at least they're repairable. As I understand it brushless motors work by a microcontroller - how will we fix those when they go a little wonky? (Sorry, this a kind of pre-emptive rant) Anyway, I'm glad to see it motoring again. Stay healthy and have fun tidying up in there!

Thanks for watching Mark. I agree that the brushless DC motors may be a bit of a challenge to fix, so I may stay with my classic tools as long as possible :) Today(monday) will consist of cleaning and organizing for the next video. This is my life :)

@@MakinSawdust Hey Kevin, we've been doing exactly the same. We're clearing our packed garage to make room for the workshop gear while the new roof goes on. Oy vey, what a lot of junk/treasure I've accumulated! It's a shame to send it to the dump...

Thanks, you too! We are doing well and Billie Jo has basically taken over the Hope This Works channel. MS is growing nicely and I have other irons in the fire too, so I am full steam ahead with MS and KWC. :) I will make some cameo appearances and be the camera and tech guy for Nora and Billie Jo's couch livestreams.

The older Black and Decker professional, Craftsman, Rockwell Delta etc had replaceable brushes mostly from external screws that released the spring and brushes to easily replace. Of course the sander wasn’t bad it doesn’t look like. I have craftsman, black and Decker professional and delta tools 40 and 50 years old that still work fine. Oh yeah Montgomery Ward power Kraft tools also.
