Dewalt DCL079 XR LED TRIPOD LIGHT

The Dewalt DCL079 tripod LED light is absolutely brilliant for places where there is no mains electric. The light output is awesome and is brighter than a mains powered halogen lamp. I have been using this LED work light for months, in a property where there was not mains electricity installed. This meant that I could continue working when there were poor lighting conditions. In the UK, this is marked at 18V XR compatible, but in other countries it might be marketed as the 20V Max.

I made my own LED flood light out of 4- 2000 lumen flashlights set at 45 degree angle from each others. Each flashlight only use 3.7 volt and I made a 36-volt lithium-ion battery pack. I put together a camera tripod and a 15' ft. telescopic golf ball retriever. It doesn’t look beautiful, but it works up to 12 hours before the battery starts to go dead. I no longer use it for work because I'm retired. Now I use it to light up the backyard family BBQ that run into the night hours.

Great to see you back, I'm here because of your comment on big Clive. YT didn't notify me of this video. Have your quit your old job and moved? Is this new build your new home? I'm looking forward to lots of quality content!

I get the feeling that I'm shadow banned on RU-vid, as so many people say that they don't receive notifications. I walked out of my old job over 12 months ago, when the company turned totalitarian over a "voluntary" covid test. The new build is the girlfriends, late fathers house, which he was building when he died. I will not be moving in! Thanks for the comment 👍

My neighbour has one of these and its incredible for such a portable device. I never asked, so I'll ask you.....Doe's this light utilise the flexvolt batteries as well as the 5ah one's ? oh and good to see you back making video's :)
@ultimatehandyman
@ultimatehandyman 2 года назад
Yes, as far as I am aware. You should be able to use the flexvolt batteries on this. A 9AH flexvolt should give you just over 5 hours of runtime on the brightest setting 👍

Like everyone says, its great to have to back Chez. Daft question about the light. LED? Are they replaceable on the Dewalt or if it fails do you have to get a new one...? Ouch if that's the case... I like the fact that there's no mains lead to trip over.
@ultimatehandyman
@ultimatehandyman 2 года назад
Thanks Peter 👍 I don't think the LED's are replaceable! When I worked on site we had to run 110v leads all over the place to light up work areas, they were a real tripping hazard and generally a PITA. Once battery LED lamps were available, they made the job so much easier! Thanks for the comment

Great light, does a good job. Surprised there’s enough space to build a new house in England, people returning from there have told me every bit of spare land is built upon, the houses are so close together you can reach out your window and open the neighbours window, is this true? Regards from Down Under.
@ultimatehandyman
@ultimatehandyman 2 года назад
Thanks, there is plenty of land in the UK to build on, but the problem is the Government and local councils that put every obstacle in your way! But you are correct, with some new builds, you could put your arm out of the window and touch next door! You would not believe the amount of hassle that the girlfriend’s late father had when getting permission to build the house that I’ve been working on. On the site there used to be old farm buildings, I went over during lockdown to help him. He pointed to a lintel in a barn wall and said that he had to remove it so that the people that he had paid for the “Bat survey”, could inspect the wall to look for bats. I said “that’s a solid wall”, he said “I know, but they insist on me removing the lintel, so that they can check for bats”! It was complete madness! Thanks for the comment 👍

Great video, thanks. Nice to see you again. Are you moving into that new build? Have you given up your day job?
@ultimatehandyman
@ultimatehandyman 2 года назад
Thanks Mark, No I am not moving into the new build. It was partially built by the girlfriend’s father, when he sadly passed away! Yes, I walked out of my subcontracting job in Feb 2021 over covid testing, basically they wanted the engineering team to have a “voluntary” covid test every Monday morning at 9:30am. If you did not take the test, you could not use any of the canteens on site, but they did not provide an alternative room for having a break. One of the engineers ended up having his breaks in the workshop, on his dirty bench! I was having none of it, I emptied my locker and sold all of my tools to one of the apprentices for £1000 (Josh, he has been in a couple of videos- brilliant lad). Thanks for the comment 👍

I just checked here in Australia and they have a dual flood on a tripod that runs off a battery i already have (Ozito). They claim each light is 2000 lumens and will work from either power or battery and about half the cost.

Thanks, I ended up pulling a muscle in my lower back, when bending down for a small piece of timber. I was out of action for about three weeks! For a couple of days, I could not even reach to put my socks on! I’m better now though, and might even make it back to the gym! It’s amazing how fast the weight piles on when you don’t exercise enough! Thanks for the comment 👍
