Thank you! Just bought one and was unsure of loading the blade. Watch your video and loaded the blade first time. My problem in the blade not staying was because of where I had the slider positioned when loading the blade. Almost took it apart but thought someone would have a RU-vid on it. Everything you said about it is correct. Thanks so much!
Just purchased. No instructions for loading. Didn’t have the slider forward so the blade went in and got jammed up. Taking it back tomorrow. At least after suffering through 5 min of flipping and clicking and far too much use of the word “guys” I know what I did wrong.
4 1/2 minutes of click click click click. Finally shows how to open and pop in blade. I needed to knew Quickly to get to work.... My hands don't work like most people, and I don't have the feeling in fingers, do I didn't realize that the black plastic button wasn't going in until I used pliers to squeeze it in. Then and only then did the blade pop in like its supposed to. So if you want a long video of how a tool feels this is great. If you want to know how to get the stinking blade into the body, go to 4:30 and watch from there.
Thanks for this video. I just purchased this today at Home Depot. It is now $13. This model does not come with any instructions so I really appreciate you showing me how to install the blade.
Ive gotta goldblatt utility knife kinda like tht but, the button your pose to push to change the blade is gone. What and how else could i change/open the knife? Ive tried to take the screw out but still cant get it apart.
finally a good one, and it's cheaper, the previous one ( the one with the carabiner clip) was $15 with some flaws, but this one $10 it's really good and it looks nice, i think it's a fair price, and the quality seems better, they're improving, if dewalt continues in this path they'll be closer to stanley
Yeah, I agree! I do like this knife, but am still pretty skeptical of Dewalt. Always a mixed bag with them. I agree though, hopefully they are working to upgrade their line of knives.
To change the blade on this knife, I had to remove the two Torx screws and disassemble the knife in order to disengage the blade from the blade holder. Then I had to re-assemble the knife which wasn’t trivial. What a pain! No wonder Home Depot was selling these things for $5.00!
This thing didn't even last more than one cut, then the blade jammed inside of the knife. I removed the screws and had to play with it for a while to determine that the way to open the housing after removing the screws was to pull down on the lower yellow grip (with DeWalt imprinted on the sides). I was to get it working, but it's only a matter of time. This knife is a disappointment.
What would you expect from a GUY who makes video's about retractable knifes! I am sure either his wife wont let him in the house unless he promises not to talk about utility knives or she has left him.
Ha ha yea it's great..I couldn't get the blade to go in or held in, kept coming out. I took the darn thing apart so I could actually see the mechinism. It's working now. Oh yea, the 2 screws holding it together are not phillips or flat head screwdriver! Its a 5 tip star or spline? Why make it easy huh??!!!
Great example of engineers giving priority to proving themselves being smarter than consumers rather than ease of operation. I have heard many examples of this model (DWHT10046) being returned or simply discarded bc users could not figure out how to change blades. After 20 minutes of puzzling how to change blade I came to this video to see how it's done. Unacceptable ?????
I just fast forwarded the video FIVE TIMES and landed on the word "guys" being said. The knife still wasn't open! 🤣🤣 Somebody works by the hour. Lol. SKIP 🤫
Nope - blade is still not loaded. It was incredibly hard together this out of the packaging - I don't care about the slider. Getting the blade in the retractable knife is the meat of the problem.
