I ditched my milwaukee stuff and got these two instead. Been waiting ages for dewalt to bring out a game changer to the 887 as I hated that & the 796 drill. Can't fault them tbh. Got one powerstack battery to try it out & it's great for its lightweight / power delivery, but crap for all day use. Dewalt on fb said they are bringing out a 5ah powerstack later on in the year. That's gonna be expensive! Love the bit at the end "don't tell makita!" 😂

My take on these batteries from other videos is that they perform like a battery/ capacitor hybrid. More able to give the power more quickly than standard. I like the small batteries in general but not at twice the price over regular 2Ah batteries. Not worth it yet in my opinion

I'm planning to get DCD805 and DF850 (replacing DCD796 and DCF887) with Powerstack batteries. I'm mostly doing small and short fixings so batteries will last forever. For palm router, grinder or circular saw will use 5Ah or some of Flexvolt batteries.

I have so many brands , I’m in many peoples minds so confused about tools lol but I just love to have the best of each tool. I have makita 18 and 40 volt , hikoki 18 and 36 volt , Dewalt 18 and 54 volt, Milwaukee 28 volt (bit old now) and Milwaukee 12 volt haha , see I’m a shocker lol But I’ve been falling more and more in love with my 12 volt Milwaukee . My most favourite tool atm is my Milwaukee 12 volt surge ( hydraulic) impact driver . Never had a tool with such precision settings for fine work . I keep Looking at these little Dewalt tools tho . Omg, I need to stop buying tools 🛠 They are sending me broke haha That what happens when your 50 and love the advancements of these amazing tools We had nothing like them back in the 80’s , I think that’s part of my tool problem lol

Same here, ive got tools that i hardly use, but justify the purchases on the thaught that i might need it for a certain situation should the need arise I should stop second guessing myself, and only buy a tool if i need it...... as for "accessories" and "kits" i have loads, and stax full of all hole cutters of all sizes, paddles bosch all sizes, 2 of each diablo blades, just drws full of stuff i hardly use..... socket sets both metric and imperial..... comprssor tools and attachments, jigs, a garage full of junk, most stuff still looks new, alot still in unopened boxes, trolly jacks, axle stands, tool cabinets, i would guess around £200,000 worth of junk i picked up over the years and abroard whilst out shopping as a hobby......

The powerstack is handy for the tools you tend to use above shoulder height like impacts, multi-tools and drills, anything requiring waist height on benches etc, the bigger batteries make more sense for me. I'm just happy that theres a drill/impact and battery combo that I can put into a holster without worrying it will topple out because of the heavy battery.

Like the little impact very handy. Every handle that came with a cordless drill I have had is in a box in the shed somewhere. Never used one. Drilling with large holesaws. Years ago before all these clutched drills I was taught to start the cut then drill clearance holes to let the sawdust drop out and stop binding. Now with the clutches I turn from drill to a high clutch setting and no more wrist breaker. And I still often add a couple of clearance holes on the big ones. Try one of the old gut buster drills from decades ago. They used to throw you around like a rag doll when they hooked up.

Interested to see how the pouch batteries play out as far as overheating and ability to cool, may not be able to ever do higher capacity batteries without having to add extra space for cooling which defeats the purpose of being able to be smaller. Anything under 3ah dies to fast for me to find it useful.

These are my two favorite tools and batteries that I carry in my toolbag. The DCD800 is smaller, but having the hammer option on the DCD805 has come in handy and worth the slightly larger size. The DCF850 is a torque monster given its small size. Each tool has a PS 1.7 battery with an extra one in the bag. Highly recommended

Really then, the question is how does this fair for everyday "normal" use. Using the dewalt impact dcf887 and two 18v 5amp batteries driving construction screws from 6gauge to 14gauge, I can get through the day efficiently. Sure it'll do the odd long 14ga to 12mm screw/bolts, but then the 1/2" wrench is better suited to more than a few. So, can it get through the whole day without having to swap batteries to often or waiting for batteries to charge? Personally i find the dcf887 too clumsy with the flexvolt 6amp. It just too unbalanced, its to heavy and gets in the way hanging of your apron. What i really really want to know is how the makita 40v and its various batteries perfroms against the dcf887/18v5amp and this new powerstack in terms of me being able to work efficiently with run time and comfort/wielability.

If you already have a fast charger or 4 port fast charger the powerstacks charge in like 15 mins which is great. I have a few but only use them on certain tools. I still love my 4ah slim, 8ah, and 12/4ah flexvolt batteries. I would love to see dewalt do some more double flexvolt batteries and bring a full size demo saw like makita 80v or 40v x2 w/e you wanna call it. Id also like to know how my flexvolt dch773 2" sds max compares to makita 80v 2" sds max. Makita wins runtime for sure with 2 batteries but does dewalt still have power of makita. Would like to know

Dcf850 is quite good if u need to get into tight spaces and its quite powerfull, have snapped some hilti 60mm concrete scrues with it. Only problem with it is the wobble of the chuck. I feel like the power stack is a big rip off, and just use 5ah. For me power stack only advantage is that is smaller and handy for fast and eazy tasks but when there is heavy things to scrue 5ah always come on top and last longher going with the same pace till the end. Seems like PS lose power/torque after a while.

Very nice review. Also interesting how you deem the impact driver as superior quality compared to the hammer drill. Here in the states, most reviewers regard the impact driver as lesser quality. I suspect it has to do with the "Atomic" branding it carries in the states as opposed to "XR." I believe these Powerstack batteries are a test run for DeWalt to work out the kinks and such, and they will include visible amp hour ratings in future releases.

If you want to work for longer than between 7 mins and up to 20 mins..... yes, agree..... Need to work where there's no electricity?...... buy a gennie, problem solved, and you can run a kettle and make a cup of tea, cant do that with batteries.... 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Cordless tools a failed technology, i would have baught a corded hand drill, but nobody makes them, one cant even buy an adaptor for mains electricity....... but you can for the double batteried chop saws..... Its all a con, buy into batteries that need replacing and chargers or the £350 tool goes in the trash.....

You can boil a kettle for a culpa as there are cordless jugs and microwaves.

Cordles drills are more powerful that's why, but you won't believe it. You can't afford them so you say they're shit. You better get used to it as all hand tools will be cordless soon.
