Hallelujah!! Thank you!! Research showing insulin resistance tied to estrogen ❤ as a cancer survivor I can't have hormone replacement therapy, so foods and diet changes are a blessing. Thank you for reading the comments and addressing this issue, I'll be sharing this video sooooo widely!! 🎉
I had a complete hysterectomy and no hormones treatment as well as no gallbladder, and having all these weird symptoms. But my doctor would not listen to me about any test I am asking him to check. All he wants to do is prescribe metformin telling me I have diabetes without any test for it!
I want to add this here, what this video talks about, is in the situation where women's bodies are functioning properly and not having an overabundance of dhea. Because too much dhea can also cause insulin resistance, like in the case of pcos.
You've been looking so bright-eyed and bushy tailed lately Thomas (such a corny phrase but it fits, so hey!) 😅 I think you're 3-4 years younger than me, but I've noticed in the past few months you've actually seemed to age in reverse. Watching vids from a few years ago, you're maintaining that smooth-faced youthful appearance so well. Whatever you're doing in addition to those berries, keep it up sir! I'm extremely health conscious (why I follow YOU, naturally) but still noticing that when I hit 43, suddenly everything began to droop, sag, and bag... Would love for you to make a video on your collagen-sparing/building "beauty" tips including sleeping habits! 💚
imho, proper diet with periods of fasting are still key to good sugar control as there are a lot of young women with normal estrogen levels but have very poor glucose handling and have insulin resistance. Insulin resistance also drives reproductive hormone imbalance.
Once again I really appreciate all the research you do. I have always been interested in how things work but don’t have the time to do all the research. Definitely something I will look into even being well past menopause.
I love liver I soak it in milk first in the fridge it takes out the strong flavor and tenderizes it I used to dredge it in flour but you can in oat fiber
Men typically produce more naturally, same with testosterone. The reason it's important to note supplemental use for women is that they are naturally low on it to begin with and it drops even further with age. Women also should keep to the lower doses he recommended, high doses increase masculine traits. Men can take it and at higher doses, but typically shouldn't need it unless you are sedentary. The body produces it in the adrenal glands when exercising if you have enough protein and electrolytes to support healthy lifestyle. If you're fat, don't exercise much and already insulin resistant, you might benefit from taking dhea supplements. Here's a quick test: do you have difficulty getting an erection? Don't answer me, just be honest with yourself. If you're slow to get an erection, you may be low on testosterone. The two things you need to fix that naturally are protein and dhea. Lose weight, get your protein intake where it needs to be and either increase exercise and/or increase dhea and you'll improve testosterone levels and sexual performance. If you're already producing enough dhea, supplementing more won't help you. The body just dumps the excess. So it really comes down to where you are, health wise if you would need supplemental boosting for it. Women are more likely to be deficient than men since they start with lower production of it to begin with. A healthy high testosterone male is already producing enough of their own dhea.
RE Macadamia Nuts: If you use that link and order macadamia nuts, they won’t send the you the free bottle of macadamia oil unless you add it to your cart! I ordered nuts, assumed the oil would be included because I used the link, and I didn’t get the oil! I emailed them and inquired and they asked if I’d added it to the cart. I said, “No, how would I have known I needed to put it in the cart?” That was two weeks ago- I haven’t heard from them since. Probably won’t shop there again. 🙁
I would love to hear your thoughts on what diet would be best for overweight women going on a Semaglutide. Assume a very low calorie diet (VLCD) since hunger would be suppressed. Obviously protein would be important to spare muscle. Semaglutide may also assist with fasting but what pattern would best take advantage of the loss of hunger signals? I would love to hear a synthesis of your knowledge on preventing muscle loss, building muscle over 40, best fasting patter for a VLCD, and the use of supplements, including MCT oil perhaps, to lose weight and remain healthy with Semaglutide treatment. I think a lot of people would be very interested in a deep dive on this.
Thomas, you might want to clarify the type of estrogen youre talking about. Its ESTRADIOL that women benefit from. Estrone is the one that makes us fat, and Estriol is higher during pregnacy, from what I understand. Without this distinction noone can really understand any of this properly.
So interesting! I’ve worn a CGM this last week and I have had some highs like peaking at 208 after eating pizza 😅 I’m breastfeeding an 11 month old, all of my hormone labs are coming back on the lower side, and I was actually hypoglycemic WHILE I was pregnant and before. It’s crazy but my doctors and I are trying to figure it out.
You may have over dosed. You need very little for a woman and many of the dhea supplements available are 10x the dosage he recommended here, because men can use more of it for testosterone.
There are food things you can do, essential oils and herbal products. Do not take the black cohash mentioned in the video, my oncologist has said that. I've asked about the 5mg DHEA and happy to report back. If you are on aromatase inhibitor, you might have to wait, but worth asking your onco since it increases estrogen and testosterone from what I've read. Ashwaganda is a helpful one as well but I'd ask about it too.
My problem with “adding a little liver” is that most of my clean, local sources come in a big, frozen chunk, and I am only one non-liver loving person who lives alone. I do take desiccated organ meat capsules, though. Cod liver is the most palatable to me, and occasionally I’ll try some beef or chicken livers, which then reminds me how little I really like it, especially on any regular basis. 🙃
