"Tyrael was a fool to have trusted me! You see, it was I who told Diablo and his Brothers about the Soulstones and how to corrupt them. It was I who helped the Prime Evils mastermind their own exile to your world. The plan we set in motion so long ago cannot be stopped by any mortal agency. Hell itself is poised to spill forth into your world like a tidal wave of blood and nightmares. You and all your kind...are doomed." IZUAL TO HIS OPPONENTS (Diablo II - ACT IV QUEST #1)
There is so much cut content damn! I remember this line from D2 very well but I am disapointed by english dubbing. Its just so... simple :/. First time i played D2 i used polish dubbing and the voice was really cool there.
@@DarkLOREDash What its amaizing is how they fucked up in Diablo 3, when Blizzard North left them more of the 50% of the Story and Lore almost done... yet, they managed to make a forgetable game.
@@arelr6822 why do you think people in general agree that Diablo 3 was a bad game compared to 1 and 2? Why would sooooo many people feel that way? Also, how old are you and what was your first lengthy Diablo experience? I think that matters here.
@@YoureScaringMe Hey there brother, I played Diablo 1 on the Sony PlayStation back in 99, and played D2 prior to the expansion and LOD on and off for twenty years, and it is my opinion that there are as many differences between Diablo and Diablo 2 Lord of Destruction as there is between D2 and D3, but overall, there is more continuity than discontinuity. I played D3, I enjoy the story, I think Tyreal really comes into his own and becomes a *great* character, and it was very sad to see Deckard Cain go, but all in all, I think D3 was a good successor to Diablo 2, but I think D2’s skill system and loot system were superior.
This channel is literal fire. I am addicted and constantly find myself coming back to watch all his Diablo lore videos and I love how he is doing elder scrolls as well. Just best channel ever
By the dying light, thoses audio lines from Diablo I are so awesome. Some of the most atmospheric stuff. The story of Izual told by Cain gives me goosebumps after 20 years.
My favorite is Lazarus. This voice actor is so recognizable... I never played Diablo 1 but I heard him in numerous voices in Starcraft 1 like Aldaris, and his voice in D1 is as spectacular as his other voices.
Blizzard is very frustrating. They have perfect games, like WoW and Diablo. Instead of putting in the work and just keeping to the formula, they change things until the game becomes unrecognizable. They keep trying to find a “formula” for a great game when they already had it!
@@protostar5946 Not to defend the game but how can you call an unreleased game a disaster?? Wait until it is released at least before you complain about it. kinda makes your statement more creditable if you do..
The original instruction manual was great, with lots of cool art. It went into the story in detail and now I can see why; it was meant to be part of the game. At least in D2 when you fight Izual I knew who he was.
A lot of this cut content would've fit perfectly in the game. I grew up playing Diablo and upon revisiting it some time ago, I started thinking that it felt like stuff was missing from the game. I always wondered about that art in the manual and now I know, he was originally meant to have a quest. Wow! Still learning things from this game all these years later.
I feel stuff was missing from the game because the single player campaign doesn't let you farm exp (you can't revive and game doesn't repopulate when you load) and by the end of the game you are seriously underpowered unless you replay the game from the beginning.
You keep the quality content flow up and you'll have 100k subs this time next year at the latest. Im enjoying this ride through Diablo's lore in anticipation of Diablo 4.
About one year later, Game LORE Dash has 75k subs. _Trav_Cole was of, but hit the right order of magnitude. I found this channel today. Great content. You will make up to 100k soon... Good timing: When D2R and later DIV hits the market, you can surf the tide.
The area is unfinished so there's no real way of knowing what the actual level layout was supposed to be. However, that may be the reason a lot of these were saved for Diablo 2.
If the forces of Hell can turn Izual into a demon, then could the angels do the same thing to the demons? It would allow a final victory over an enemy that keeps respawning after they are killed. Somehow convert or permanently imprison enough of them to give you a significant advantage .
Its the nature of the two factions. The forces of Hell represent chaos, or change. The forces of the High Heavens represent order, or the status quo. Only one of those two is going to change 1 thing into another. It also explains why one side would see the Nephalem and seek to exploit it, and one side would find its existence absolutely abhorrent. It also creates a bit of irony in their life cycles. The chaos/change side dies and comes back the same, the order/status quo side dies and comes back different. Now that I've written that out, I can understand why Imperious is such an asshole to the Nephalem.
@@jesperkihlberg6939 lol oh man. Well you can always grind for gear killing mephisto over and over. He can drop some good shit. Good for solo gear runs.
To be fair isnt that a common issue in RPGs? I feel like every weapon that is legendary in lore ends up falling short.... Making me wonder whats the fucking point of going after it
probably because of how convoluted some of the puzzles etc were and it was blizzard north that was doing diablo so probably timing aswell... Really liked this izual story though, wish he woulda got his redemption arc instead of how they butchered him in d3. Too bad it was none of the same game devs on d3 =/.
@@kubula5312 According to David Brevik, Bliz North had wanted to do something different after the release of Diablo 1. But when they could not think of a better idea they instead made D2. Check out David Brevik's postmortem on youtube.
After replaying Diablo 1 with the Belzebub mod, and experiencing all these cut quests, I gotta say, man these quests are awesome and it's a real shame they were cut from the final game. Except for Map of the Stars, really hate that one.
I'd expect they put Izual and even Barbarian(as one of the character choice even before he appeared in D2 😲) in Hellfire, if not in the base Diablo 1, sadly the devs team of Hellfire didn't even try to brought it back
So what I am getting from all of this is... Blizzard had a few good ideas back in Diablo 1. Like "Shadowfang", "Temple of the Damned" and "Izual" and so forth. Then they got stuck and put those names everywhere. Like Shadowfang Keep. Almost like all their creative power was used up.
Ikr. Yes! There's a quest called map of the stars where he was on an omega lvl timer if you didn't defeat him in time... I'm looking forward to covering it
This blows my mind how much extra content was cut from Diablo 1. Would have been nice to see ALL these cut quests as it would have all still been good lore between Diablo 1 to Diablo 2. Reocurring themes and stuff you would be familiar with.
After destroying the worldstone, he spent 20 human years reforming himself back to Tyrael, then he went back to the High Heavens, and the cutscene with Imperius judging him happens.
If you want to play the cut content, download the Bealzabub mod for D1. It is an HD mod for diablo 1. It adds cut content back and adds D2 style features in. Buy menus, Gheed the gambler, crafting and other things. You will need D1 installed. You can buy it for 8$ USD from Gog games. Google Diablo 1 download should pull it up. It comes with Hellfire but Hellfire is not that great IMO. Have fun!
The text below is from the official Diablo 1 manual that came with the hardcopy of the game. The greatest of these heroes was Izual, lieutenant to the Arch-Angel Tyrael and bearer of the Angelic Runeblade Azurewrath. He once led a fierce attack upon the Hellforge as the creation of the dark demonblade Shadowfang was nearing completion. His quest was to destroy both wielder and weapon - a charge that he was destined never to complete. Izual was overcome by the legions of chaos and, tragically, was lost to the Darkness. His fate stands as testament to the fact that Angels and Demons alike shall fearlessly enter into any domain - so long as their hated enemies dwell within.
I can see why it was cut.... Why would Farnham know anything about Izual to that level, he should know as much as the rest of the town? Dude could barely get in the first levels of the dungeon and his team got mangled by the butcher with him barely getting out alive. There is no way he could even know about Izual considering he's closer to hell.
If I could have 1 single video game wish it would be for Blizzard to release an official HD version with all these cut quests, NPC's and items re-implemented, along with the Hellfire expansion, all those nagging bugs that have never been fixed, plus all new items, weapons, armor, etc. I can't even fathom how much content was cut from the original game. It seems like the official release was literally only half the game it was supposed to be.
@@DarkLOREDash A nice middle ground would be nice. Kinda like how rockstar has ragdoll but still incorporates some animations that link together. I enjoy the feeling of pure power when walking into a group and just scattering bodies but also enjoy the subtle animations like the fallen in D2 hitting the ground and spilling blood. I am not sure they will bother though. Animations definitely take more time.
Does anyone else see a similarity between Izual and Kerrigan from Star Craft lore? Mighty warrior left to the "mercy" of the enemy and transformed by that very enemy, later to become a major force in the lore.
kerrigan to me is more similar to arthas then any other blizz property however if i had to compare someone from diablo to kerrigan it would probly be the warrior from diablo 1 and maybe leah....to me its mostly characters of tragedy
@@jeevesgeech6836 True, but the actual process of being taken over and converted reminds me of the cutscene when the Zurg took Kerrigan and made her into the Queen of Blades. I think it would be unfortunate if Blizzard makes Diablo IV have a major story arc of trying to save Izual... A bit too close to the storyline of Starcraft 2. It would show a major lack of creativity from Blizzard.
I think they should have kept that questline. I am playing the HD diablo 1 release Bealzabub. It has a ton of cut content in it also. Very fun. I have not made it to level 15 in hell but I am hoping lol
I've been pretty much been playing this game for 2 years now, I'm a level 28 warrior playing on Normal difficulty on level 15 hell, and still haven't finished it :^/ It was my first time playing a Diablo game, but I still haven't even beaten it, not even my first playthrough currently.
Sethoghot has possessed a dark cold burning blade named Shitmagoth and was cast from the Lightcrap of Phantasmagorieth to the deepest darkest corner of the Putrid Hell of Black Thumirath, which is part of the Darkmoonfrost. The true dark lord of Darkmoonfrost called his cursed servant Hothhoth von Dracotrance and he ordered him to kill the great Rethardor... fuk, my brain exploded from this nonsense.
I always felt they did Izual pretty dirty. I'd much rather he have been a forcibly corrupted Angel trying to claw his way back to the light instead of a mole always working for the forces of Hell.
Dude, why was there SO much cut content? The game could have easily have been 50% longer with all this cut content intact. With the bar they set with D1 how we know it, just imagine if they managed to add all of this?!
Pretty intense stuff! If Blizzard would've left more of this content in I may have actually played D1. I still play Diablo 2 & 3. But, I passed on the original. Thanks for the cool insight on this awesome franchise! Adventure on!
