My Astro van sometimes veers to the right when braking. It almost flipped when I avoided a dog on the road. Scared me to death. Could this be a stuck caliper? I don't see smoke but I do smell something.
Could be yeah, but you'd have to rule out suspension issues and worn out bushings which would be more likely. Bad wheel bearing and warped rotors could as well but usually you'd hear issues or play with a bad wheel bearing and warped rotors would be felt as a pulsation on the brake pedal itself when applying the breaks. Something as simple as having very uneven tire pressure can also cause it.
@@radieyevanov I really appreciate the help. There's no noise and the breaking is smooth but it's a 2000 Chevy Astro AWD that I got w/141k on it, I have no maintenance records as a reference. I bought new Centric rotors, ceramic pads, Stoptech calipers and Raybestos flexible brake hoses. Shops don't like doing the job with parts you supply so I may have to do it myself with the help of RU-vid. I agree that suspension could be the issue though because the van sits lower on the driver's side. Thanks again.
