From experience BMW (and most dealers) will only reset the service light if they do the servivce, as they won't just turn it off without any proof it's been done, so if you service yourself, something like this might be very useful 😉

Looking at the website I would say you can't as it only works with it's own software ☹️, you could download a free obd diagnostics app off google play to see for yourself 👍, stay safe

Hey up, the obd LX is the device that plugs into the bike, motoscan is the software that you use on your android phone, and yes it has languages, and one of them is french, hope that helps, ride safe Simon B 😎

I'm back again after a year, I set the service notification again today, and what a twat it was, It took ages to connect and then when it did it after I clicked on the service option it said that I only had the lite version of the motoscan app so I went in the house and looked in the upgrade section and it said that I had the professional version already purchased so I went out and had another go and it worked, but one thing to know is that it told me to go onto BT1 on the connection options instead of automatic.

Just in case anyone else has this problem I tried again today. I pressed the 3 reset buttons making sure the 1st had cleared before I went to the next and the service reminder immediately cleared from the console. Very happy. I did have problem with Bluetooth pairing this 2bd time but if you delete OBDlink from you Bluetooth history and search again connection should be ok.... Many thanks, Simon

Hey up Robert, you could always buy the GS 911 scan tool for £250 😲, the obdlx are available second hand on eBay, or get a couple of mates and invest in one, a dealer would charge £60 to get rid of a service light, just a note the motoscan does more than the service light 😉, ride safe, Simon B 👍

Good tutorial, but maybe an explicit plug letting us know the free version of Motoscan doesn't allow service light resets and that you need to buy the Professional or Ultimate versions to get that. It's still way cheaper than GS911 by a long shot though.

Hi Simon, yes I subscribed! A disappointment for those who have spent a lot of money on a GS9**! I have the same set up for my GSA but the OBD link plugs straight into the diagnostic port on mine. Hey up Barry ,I haven't no sorry, you must have a air cooled gs ?, I had a 55 plate gs and the abs pump went on it, that was 4 years ago, I just put tape over the flashing light 😲, I wouldn't know how or if the ecu could be programmed to stop flashing with motoscan, I would recommend mailing motoscan themselves, I believe they are very helpful, keep me updated bid you get it done 👍, ride safe, Simon B 👍

I've got the motoscan lite version installed on my phone and will soon buy the OBD linkLX, can I only upgrade the app when it's active with the OBD? I can't see a way to do it at the moment and what is the method of payment?

Hi Simon My friend bought a used r1200gs adv 2017 model. Can this wake up the Hill Start function with Moto Scen(Ultimate Version)? or do We need update the motorcycle main software first? In the R1200GS sold in 2017 in Korea , the Hill Start function is hidden.

Hi dervman, it reads all codes and I believe you can add extras to the bike i.e hill start and others , but don't fancy at the moment to be flashing ECU's 😯, will be doing another video, a deep dive 👍

Will the MotoScan activate the ABS unit when doing a brake bleed on a K50 or K51 (R1200 GSA and a R1200 GSA LC)?

@@SIMONB1 Great, thanks. Good thing I can read German and that is exactly what my GS911 does as I flushed my brake system a few days ago. I also have the MotoScan Ultimate but wasn't sure if it can activate the ABS pump for a complete brake fluid flush. I don't want to lend out my GS911 and lose a VIN count, but my friend has a MotoScan so he can use it.

I have an OBDlink MX+ doesn't want to communicate with my BMW c600 sport. Last time I tried it with the LX green one and it worked fine. Sold it to upgrade but now my new upgrade doesn't work. Now I got to buy the old one again.

Hey up Johnny_623, to change anything on your bike you will need to pay for the app, the free version only lets you read certain things, follow the link in the description and you will be able to see what level is suitable for you, ride safe, Simon B 👍

Very informative thank you. Just bought a 2017 R1200GS, very happy with it. Checked out the OBD Link LX, but it's not compatible with iphone! That's a bummer, as a lot of BMW bikers use Apple. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance, Mark, Amsterdam.

@@SIMONB1 the cable is a 10 pin to 16 pin. The car world uses 16 pin obd. (on board diagnostics). I have the tool to reset a bmw car.. Just wondering if you had ever used a car scanner on the bike

Hi si, yes the Obd link 2 is also used for cars, the cable is the convertor from Obd to bike obd, there is a link in the description, showing where the cable was bought, some cheaper Obd readers won't work tho, hope this helps 👍

I have the motoscan professional app, and the ODBMXlink adapter and cable. I think I am having a problem with the cable and it needs to be cut also. It connects to the App and powers on, but fails to connect to the head unit when I try to enter KOMBI. I noticed the adapter plug has 9 female posts but the BMW has only like 4 or 5 male pins in the service plug. I was afraid I was not connecting the pins right

if your odb link is powering up and linking to your phone, i wouldn't think its the cable, have you set up communications within motoscan, then done the adapter check ?, if this is all fine then the OBD will talk to your bike, hope this helps :)

This is the issue im having on my K1600. It connects motoscan to my OBD LX but wont connect to instrument cluster KOMBI. Did you ever solve the problem?

Hi Jason, this usually happens when selected the wrong bike in the software, try selecting another as there are a few variations of the same bike 👍

Hi Malcolm, just looked on the motoscan site, it doesn't show that a 2012 bike is supported, I believe it's only for the LC model and above

The clock is analog isn't it ?, You won't have a TFT ?, You can change it on the nav, so you heads hu display would be in KPH, if you have a TFT, you do that in settings 😁, hope that helps, ride safe, Simon B 👍

Hey up NATE, I don't believe you can as it's got analogue clocks, if you have a nav 5/6 you can change it on there, and use it as a heads up display, that's what I do when over in Europe, ride safe, Simon B 👍
