To dial in your MAF training pace can be really challenging because of how quickly the HR can get out of control. When you are training with low heart rate methods, this can get very frustrating. Whether you are using MAF or Zone 2 heart rate training, the principle is going to be the same. You have to be patient enough to gradually expose yourself to increasing paces until your body locks into its perfect pace.

You are the only one who nicely explained how to warm up for MAF running. No one did it! Great tips! My only problem now is that I live in a area with Hills which is difficult to understand if I can already jog without stopping for a walk to maintain HR maf after almost 2 months of frustrations😂

I think MAF / low rate heart training is to run more times a week without getting to tired. Train longer, time in the key!

I am retired, so can do a mini-run for between 10 & 30 mins each hour of a 12 hour day at my easy pace (about 10 mins/km), five days per week. This has enabled me to advance from a limit of 2 or 3 easy 5 km runs and a long 12 km run each week to closer to 100 km per week at a steady slow pace.

I am trying to find a good pace for my running. What do you think about the heart rate drift. If I start really slow my drifting starts after about 8km. If I start a little faster the drift starts at around 6km (keeping the same pace). Should I stop when teh drifting occurs, or is it ok to just go on( thats what I do)? Or should I start with a still slower pace so no drifting occurs at all? I am actually trying to ask, what is a good (zone 2 pace/ maf pace ) for me?
