Well said! I remember my days as an apprentice and how scared I was at first. My boss at the time and I remained friends after I left for another job until his passing.. I'm long since retired, but it seems like only yesterday.@@hydraulicfactory

Im curious does your center have alot of miss alignment when using 4jaw chuck method like that? Because shouldn't it be quite accuratelly centered so your pipe center doesn't wobble. Great video btw! always love watching heavy machining :)

Brother, continue to follow me, I will continue to upload videos. Adjusting a shuttered mirror is the easiest for me. Everything is difficult for those who do not know how to do this. Since this piece is a specially produced forged piece, it shakes a lot inside and out. I tried to divide this secretion according to the pass and connected it that way. Of course, such pieces are difficult. But I have such a hard time with the parts that are smooth and I adjust it very easily. Thank you for your nice comment.

Yes, brother, there are definitely larger lathes. This profession has neither an end nor a beginning. Those who know how to make the machine bigger know that as you enlarge the machine, you will need a bigger one. We work according to the machine we have and do the work according to the machine we have. Sometimes I have to exceed the capacity of the machine. For me, turning the part on the lathe is enough.

Why you do not indicate the part? measuring on the chuck is not precise. Need to indicate to have a perfect fit. I see when you started it, it is not revolving quite round. CONCENTRICITY.

The piece is specially produced from forged steel, so it does not rotate properly, I tried to center the pass inside and outside.

Micrometer?????? for 4 jaw alignment on both ends.
@hydraulicfactory
@hydraulicfactory Месяц назад
I know what the micrometer is used for, but I don't understand what you mean.
@couttsw
@couttsw Месяц назад
@@hydraulicfactory I noticed you were using a tape measure to determine alignment across the 4 jaws, then after the first run it seemed the one end was high and the other low, I don't know how much scale is on the steel, but a micrometer will give a fixed point of reference to determine the center of the piece and will allow to adjust like you did so the piece is centered on the 4 jaw chuck. By doing this at both ends you could center the piece and allow for smooth full length cuts. There is a RU-vid machinist here in the US named Adam, his channel is Abom79 and even working on large pieces such as yours he trues the pieces with a micrometer. They even have competitions amongst tradesmen to determine who can bring a 4 jaw piece into alignment to an acceptable degree usually depending on the size of the piece, between 1 and 5 thousandth of an inch tolerance.
@hydraulicfactory
@hydraulicfactory Месяц назад
@@couttsw I understand, brother, the pipe is specially produced forged steel, there was a 50 mm pass on the outside of 70 mm and the piece was very curved, I tried to give the curvature proportionally inside and outside here and I was successful, of course, we use various measuring tools such as micrometer compiler while doing the precise processing of the piece to capture the measurements. You will see it in the following videos

@hydraulicfactory
@hydraulicfactory 19 дней назад
Thank you brother, the material is specially produced forged steel, that's why there is a difference in wall thickness, there is a runout, I centered this runout inside and outside diameter, that's why it is like that.
