Interesting. Diamond Head's first song was "Shoot Out The Lights" and Metallica's first song was "Hit The Lights".

Yeah, lars introduced james to diamond head music around the time Metallica was born, they got famous, and diamond head faded out here in the U.S.A . Sad, I loved the original versions as much as the Metallica covers of them, a little more actually 🤘

"Two things are not long hidden from this world. 1. A great singer still sounds great live and in the raw, with no overdubbing. 2. A great production will never hide the fact that a terrible singer cannot sing... Especially live." - Steven Cannon... Lol... He always had the pipes... Glad that the new singer holds his own next to Sean...

I had a garage band called Virgin Blood that sounded better than this. We had two guitars, a really good bassist who is now a session musician and our lead guitarist who subsequently released two albums and toured Europe playing for Holocaust and now is the soloist in the UKs biggest Pink Floyd tribute band. There is nothing he can’t play. The drummer was good but had a crap drum kit. He played for U.K. Subs on tour for a few dates. The singer died in a horrific industrial accident. The rhythm guitarist quit, too many arguments and prima donnas for my taste. I went to Portsmouth got a job on the docks and began DJ’ing. I’ve met the band orbital, I met N-Joi, The Prodigy and The Orb and a bunch of other folk like MC Kinky, Alice DJ and Lisa Lashes amongst others. Oh and I met that band New Atlantic who released ‘take me into insanity’. They were mental and really made the most of their fifteen minutes of fame. They were caning it every time I saw them. The band split because some who were real posers and had the talent to back it up wanted to play cock rock like Motley Crue, Bon Jovi, Ratt and Poison. Others wanted a more thrash metal sound. The bassist wanted to do experimental music, he wanted to play slap bass, and double bass and fretless bass. He wanted to copy the sound of Suicidal Tendencies and Infectious Grooves, he wanted to try Lemmy’s style which was like playing the bass like a guitar. He just wanted to explore styles and master them and never really had his heart in this band. It’s a shame because I believe if we had come together at the right time we could have made a name for ourselves. I’m not saying we were great but there are a lot of bands out there who when it comes to playing live sound really amateur. We weren’t even famous and there were so many cliches. I had a problem with amphetamines, the bassist smoked hash like a fiend. Another was obsessed with his image and had leather trousers, tattoos, big hair that he would spray like a madman before gigs. We had the nuts and bolts and everything you need to make a great band, but it remained half cobbled together with many parts and nuts, bolts and screws scattered around it. Then it was abandoned.

99.99% of the bands fall apart because of those things. Can't hold the band together because of Egos, Drugs, Women or simply can't keep up the motivation. That's why I think only a handful are actually destined to make it.
