I married the love of my life and only went with a .35 carat diamond ring because that’s all I could afford. She now has been wearing that ring for over 9 years. For those reading this, size shouldn’t matter! Love matters. I will now be presenting her a 1.5 carat diamond ring for our 10 year anniversary.
Before i watch the Videos are wanna buy a 0,25ct diamant 950platin. In germany the people buy fewer diamant than 0,25ct. After i watched the Videos are have s bad feeling would i buy This "small" 0,25ct diamant. I think its a big difference between the countrys. I havent ever Sea people in germany they use bigger diamant. .... i am Looking for 0,5 size diamant now...
In the end it's all about prestige and ego. My ex-husband was in the jewelry business and I had an impressive 2-carat cushion cut that everyone ooohed and ahhed about. It really was obnoxious compared to my size finger and hand. I am now recently engaged to a wonderful man and we decided to save the $$ and I got a beautiful high quality princess cut stone that is about 1/3 of a carat. It looks perfect and elegant on my little 5 1/2 size finger. Now I get genuine complements instead of "jealous" ones. LOL PS. I dont have the old ring, it was given to a relative to keep in the family.
$19,000 from Kay jewelers because it is so high quality HA BS diamonds are a total rip off and Kay, Jarred etc. is paying for their overhead in the mall!
I never really understood carats. When you watch TV everyone makes a big deal about 3, 4, 5 carat rings, but as someone who is a size 6 similar to the model everything over 1 carat just looked huge to me. I'll go with a .95 and save money. This video is very educational thank you
Actually normal / big / small size of a diamond depends on the society where you live. If most people around you buy 1 ct diamond then this size is normal. If most people buy 0.1 ct or 10 ct diamond then this size is normal for you (psychologically). The author says that "0.25 ct diamond is very unimpressive and normally people don't go this low for a center stone diamond". It isn't correct and the author should say which people don't go this low and which does. In 2nd world countries 0.25 ct is a big diamond (can be compared to 2 ct in 1st world countries). In fact, most engagement rings in such countries are between 0.05 ct and 0.15 ct. If we are talking about 3rd world countries, then the ring with any diamond is a rare. Just think, how would you feel if you open some video and the author says "4 ct diamond is very unimpressive and normally people don't go this low for a center stone diamond. Mostly people start from 15 ct". Hope I didn't offend anyone. I do understand that the video is focused for a special category of people but please be ethical. Sorry for the criticism.
@@roseromero2188 Is Tiffany's worth the money? I really want an emerald cut colourless diamond anywhere from 2ct-3.5ct with a thin diamond setting and don't mind the cost just as long as it's the highest quality.
@@urassisgras4600 It's not worth the price. You're paying for their advertising and branding. Go to Jamesallen.com and have a play around with the filters there. You can get a 6 prong setting that is essentially the "Tiffany" setting and diamond of higher quality than Tiffany will provide at about half the price.
Ummm I chose a 0.33 diamond solitaire and love it. No it's not big, but it is D clarity and Si1 clarity- so on the flawless scale. It cost so much for that size alone that I don't even know how my fiancé would have afforded anything bigger
Am I the only one who finds the >1.0 ct tacky? I think 0,4 looks real pretty in delicate hands. Mine is a 0,71 and I wouldn’t go higher, most of the times I only wear my band
If you’re here because you’re buying for your girlfriend a little piece of advise: always go for better quality rather than size. It’s better to get a smaller diamond that’s close to clear and colorless than a larger one that’s yellow cloudy and has inclusions.
Most, if not all of my friends have 1/4 to maybe a little bit bigger than that, but, not quite a 1/2 carat. That's about what most young couples can afford when they first get engaged.
Very true. Its always a good idea to shop jewelry at pawn shops because they markup slightly on gold weight whereas if you bought it new you'd be paying more than 2x weight value. Just bought a ring from a pawn shop, weighed 6.2 grams of 14k gold and 4 tiny tiny diamonds, and only paid $200. Can't beat pawn shop deals 99% of the time!
Julie Ryan Grandmother, 1920's missionary to Brazil, brought back a set right at a caret with a Portuguese cut , very sparkly and called in those days, "blue-white",seemed to be desired by all in the family , always admired with " Ooh-oo's " and " Ah-h-h's" was lovingly passed on to myself, one of three adopted grandchildren. I wear it for her ,in honor of her 99++ years . She said to me in church one day, " if I ever get to feeling POOR, I just look down and give my diamond a little twinkle!" . I was only four or five years old , but I hoped one day she would let me wear and "twinkle" it !
Yes. I hate the knuckle-duster type rings. Don't look believable. It's all in the sparkle and the cut. Some large dull-looking diamonds out there! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DBmVL5wQZJA.html
How do you feel about Lab Grown Diamonds? I asked my girlfriend and she thought it was good, mainly because I am a scientist myself but I like the ethics behind lab grown vs natural.
I am totally getting a lab-grown diamond, most places literally can't even tell the difference and the ethics are so much better! Plus, in addition to those already amazing improvements, they are cheaper I really don't see what the catch is.
Madelynn DeJarlais Lab-created diamonds have no resale value. That means if you buy a lab-created diamond, you won't be able to reap any part of what you paid for it. For example, if you bought this 1ct lab-created diamond, you'd have a beautiful stone, yet no jeweler will buy it back.
@@Algin1224 I will never buy a lab diamond for my engagement ring with the intention of selling it again, and I refuse to take part of a system that exploits people at every angle of the process, it isn't about the imaginary value of what's on your hand, it's about the people who gave it to you. Whether the person made the diamond, cut the diamond, or bought the diamond for you to be engaged, everyone in the process matters.
@@madelynndejarlais5002 I agree with you. We are in the market for a lab diamond. What we dislike about mined diamonds, in order to unearth a diamond ... one ton of earth is displaced/destroyed. Think about that. There is no need to destroy the earth when a lab can create an exact same stone under ideal composition, ideal pressure, and ideal cut ... earth-friendly, no brainer!
Kelsey Rink Well I’ve found as much as I was always about big stones . Because I love to really see them. If she has tiny hands it might feel uncomfortable or get knocked around and so might want a halo of diamond around it or a bezel set diamond? Or a ring guard. I see it’s been 4 months. So I’m hoping she loves whatever you got her. Congrats one the new ring❣️😁🙌🏻👍🏻
I have a 1 CT solitary ring and a 1/2 wedding band. I feel that anything above 2CT for the center piece looks too big. ( in general) For me personally I would not go bigger than 1.5 CT my hands are very small.
I wanted to get my lady a 2 CT. But after seeing this video I'm not sure now as idk if it's going to look too obnoxious. I want it to be impressive, but not "HEY LOOK AT ME, WE ARE RICH!"...because we are not, just "financially well/stable" . I also feel like the ring is a representation of myself, so I don't want to go too small either. This process is frustrating
I love the 3.5 ct dimond . I don’t think anything less is appropriate . Also I will never shop at a mall for diamond ….. go to Harry Winston . I love their diamonds
I'm trying decide what size radiant stone will definitely stand out but not look over the top. I wear a size 6.5 to 7.5 depending on width of band. Wanting a 3 stone Meghan Markle inspired ring design, her updated design. Possible blue sapphire center with diamond side stones or diamond center with blue sapphire side stones. Please, help give me your opinion on direction.
This is the 2nd video I’ve watched from your misleading lying channel. At 4:30 you state that it doesn’t matter what jewelry store you go to online is always cheaper. You can easily get ripped off online just like you can in a store. Stop lying to people.
Online is a good tool for price shopping and doing your research but by all means it is not the best place to buy a diamond. Go to a trusted store where the sales person won’t act like a typical used car salesman and who will take the time to help you find what you want in your budget. Good luck online buying blindly which is no better than buying from a chain brick and mortar store where they only want to sell sell sell. They don’t care about you at all. Some stores actually want to be your trusted jeweler and not just rip you off.
Rick, I recently saw an older engagement ring (50+ years) that had 2 square cut, 6 carat diamonds set diagonally in a yellow gold band. Any estimate what a ring like that would be worth? I thought 6 carats each would be gaudy, but the lady wearing the ring is 5'11" and really rocks the ring----no pun intended! Oh---thanks for a great video!!!!!
People should choose a stone they love or that has sentimental value because that will mean more to you down the road than the diamond you end up pawning when your marriage is dissolved, lol. I have a stunning yellow natural sapphire. Just purchase the stone loose and choose your setting later, which can include diamonds. Alexandrite, opal, and moonstone are some of my other fave stones. What are your faves??
I bought my lady a 1 carat solitaire from James Allen back in March 2017. Its a round, Internally flawless, i color, gia certified, triple excellent stone. James Allen is definitely the way to go...
I have a question about a diamond ring I have. it says the diamond quality is SR-2 or SR-3 and I have know idea what this means. Any help would be appreciated.
SI1 and SI2 are included diamonds meaning you can see the black specks and imperfections when you look at the stone it goes from F- flawless IF internally flawless down to Vvsi very very slightly included you won't see any imperfections then it goes down from there to vs1 then vs2 then you hit si1 then down to si2 most of the time you wanna stay at vs1 but for a little more money you can get a mostly eye clean vs2 if you are at a good jeweler not ripping you off
The resale value on a real diamond is the pits, best go with Moissanite, no one will know the difference unless you tell them, or get a center stone in your birthstone, mine is Opal & many are as valuable as a diamond.
Angela West my friend is 5'3 and she weight 98 lbs wears a size 3.25 ring. Her 0.61 CT diamond looks as big as a 1 CT on her hand. It's all about the size of your fingers. I doubt your ring size is smaller than 3.75. 5'3 110 lbs is pretty normal. I'm taller than you weigh less than you 😂
The selfie generation wants what the rich have eventhough they cant afford it. Most people should never by a diamaond bigger than 1 ct. Then there are those that must out do everyone else. Some of these fools dont have a pot to piss in but they want a 2, 3 4 ct diamond. My net worth is in excess of 15 million dollars and my wife of 27 years has a 2 ct diamond ring that she is very greatful for and content with, eventhough she could have a 5 ct diamond if she wanted...whats the point?
I settled for a simple gold band when I first got married. Told my husband if I can't see that diamond from across the room I don't want one. You wouldn't believe the stunning 2 carat diamond ring I got on my 12th anniversary. You just got to wait
Dont order from Edwin Novel diamonds or anything. Discount prices are for the worst diamond and thry will Not let you cancel until delivered otherwise the will keep 35% of what you paid. Thats horrible and take two weeks to send
This isnt me being cheap, just preference but i find even 1 carat far too big to look good on a hand. Not just that but itll catch on stuff. Anything that size is to show off money rather than look pretty. Something which will be worn daily for life should be nice to look at not show how rich your other half is
i don’t want the ring to be too big. she doesn’t wear jewelry at all and still isn’t sure if she’ll even wear the engagement ring (it’s not usual in her religion) so not too clonky, i don’t want to come off cheap though, any advice?
The funny thing is when a man is talking about diamonds as soon as it gets to around 3crt we describe it as huuuuuge. But when women on RU-vid do the same thing 3crt is considered the lowest they'd want 🤣
I have a 4 carat one and it looks way smaller on my finger (more like the 2.75 in this video) I guess I have big hands (size 7.25)... makes research a lot harder 😅😅
It's probably a very deep cut..ie: more diamond from top to bottom..than around. That's the mark of an older diamond..mine cut (cut right in thr mine) etc. This was before just a few people cornered the market. They are spactacular with facets..and wonderful under light ot in the sun! Great sparkle.

EXACTLY.. THERE IS NO SHORTAGE OF DIAMONDS IN THE WORLD. YOU NEED TO SHOP AROUND. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE MAINSTREAM JEWELERS. YOU ARE PAYING FOR THEIR BRAND IN THE PRICE.
Yep, helpful video. We bought our engagement and wedding rings from James Allen. The quality is so much better than Shane Co and other jewelers for less. You won't regret it. Plus, their customer service team is excellent.
Hello i’m buying my first engagement ring And don’t really know what to buy m. I think for my budget it Has to be 1 carat . Any tips would be greatly appreciated thank you so much for the great video I appreciate the help
“Wow look at this diamond… click the link in my description! Now this o… click the link in the description! Wow lets che…. Click the link in the description!”
I asked what he wanted to spend on 1 carat at a broker. Then I asked him to spend same amount of 3/4 carat and buy better quality stone. Small hands I don’t want a huge ring.
i have no idea of diamonds i got recently a 2 carat and in white gold for my girl ...it was gia certificate and trust me its so pure but i am broke now haha
Carbon is the 15th most abundant element in the Earth's crust, and the fourth most abundant element in the universe by mass after hydrogen, helium, and oxygen. pretty much rare as oxygen!!!!!!!!
Hello curious to get everyone's opinion, and yours as well, Rick: Which stone do you think would have the greater fire once in a setting, also, will the .30mm (approx) be a large size difference? @t vs @t
I’ll add, it’s INCREDIBLE how misleading and shady some brick and mortar (even chains) are. If you are well informed, some don’t want to show you certificates and others will even go as far as saying they don’t certify smaller diamonds. I purchased from a competitor of the site listed for a pendant necklace and was AMAZED at how transparent and easy the process was. I look at all jewelry stores like used car lots now. Spend a little bit of time, educate yourself and make you AND your partner happy. Videos like this help, but is not the end all. Spend some time reading about what you’re trying to achieve, what you need and don’t. You’ll thank yourself over and over that you did!
I agree Tori. Diamonds are the biggest scam there is. Go ahead and try to sell it, if you ever need to. You might get 100 dollars for a ring that cost 1900 bucks. The diamonds depreciate the second you put it on your finger. I strongly urge women to buy other than a diamond for this reason. You won't be able to sell it for much, but you also won't get scammed either. I have a beautiful blue sapphire ring wedding set, in white gold, loaded with diamonds, and can't get squat for it and it's in excellent condition. Screw that, no more expensive rings. I will get quality, without the rip off.
