Diana¹s wedding gown is unveiled at a display at West Edmonton Mall. Its handler Graeme Murton talks about the exhibit: Diana, A Celebration, and about the life of Princess Diana. Video by Bruce Edwards.
Yes, so true. That's exactly it. The gown is gorgeous and reminds us of what a wonderful, loving spectacular woman and person Princess Diana was. Yet now when we see her wedding gown, our hearts break for her. I personally feel sorrow and sympathy for her knowing what turmoil she endured.
This dress has this antique Victorian 18th century look about it. It's gorgeous and stunning on her. Fit for a queen. She exudes a true sense of beauty, class and royalty wearing it
I think the wedding dress was heavily inspired by Cinderella. The carriage, beautiful Diana & the dress all went with the story of Cinderella. She was & will be the only princess ever living on this earth.
You are entitled to your opinion. She was a beautiful bride. Just not in that dress. Thought it looked like a nightgown that the granny in Red Riding Hood would wear.
Unfortunately, I wasn't born in time to see Princess Diana's beauty, but I can see from the videos and photos. She's so beautiful. She is truly the definition of a princess.👑💙
This is not only a complete story, it a dress that speaks whole of her life. There is none like her dress for the whole world to remember and the memories will never be extinguished from our minds. She was the princess and he was the toad.
I think the black "revenge" dress of Diana has to be my favorite, but her wedding dress is quite an intricate piece as well. But beyond all, she was such a lovely human being, its sad her life ended with such tragic events. She definitely deserved more love than she received.
I saw that live as a teenager and to this day I still am so moved by her beauty she was and is the most beautiful bride ive ever seen she glowed in that dress ✨🌟✨🌟
She married as a real princess. Even when her dress is outdated for today standarts she truly knew how to impress everybody. The dress was suited for the future Queen.
I was 9 years old when Diana and Charles got married. I remember waking up at 6:00AM, hearing my mom and sister watching the wedding. I loved the dress than and I still love it now. It was a perfect princess dress. It was a magnificent dress, for a stately occasion, in a spectacular cathedral. I know it wrinkled in the coach, but the designer smoothed out the wrinkled in the skirt and train. And Diana looked regal, as she went down the aisle. Sad that the marriage did not work out, but they had 2 wonderful sons together.
The dress is pretty in the video but looks like something I would see in a Confederate museum in the U.S. She made it magical. She brought the dress alive (like she did everything else she wore).
The dress is a classic fairytale gown Beautiful, elegant and very royal ❤. U all will agree with me that the dress fitted diana like a glove All the flaws disappeared n she looked regal👸
The dress was grand and regal, that was the point. It wasn’t made to be a “ordinary dress”. It was made to be unlike anything anyone else had ever seen
She was such a saint, truly. I was 11 when she passed away and I remember my mom and her best friend just bawling and consoling each other. May she rest in eternal peace♥️
Diana's dress was very unusual, and suited her perfectly. I actually liked the wrinkled appearance of her dress, I knew that the wrinkles are what silk tafetta does the best! There has not been a dress to equal this since.
Beautiful Princess Diana's stunning Wedding Dress. I was glued to the TV on her Wedding Day. I grew up in England and Diana was a great inspiration to me and other young girls of the time. Diana I will always miss you. You were an outstanding and lovely person inside and out. Shame you were taken away from us so young. It was so unfair. RIP MY BEAUTIFUL PRINCESS.
Aisea Konrote Please learn how to speak proper English and please study the bloody royal laws. Diana LOST HER PRINCESS TITLE when she left Charles. IF wills becomes king then her title will NOT be restored as she was NOT of royal blood. Wills might die before he gets a chance to be king. Charles will be king when her royal highness Queen Elizabeth 2 dies sooner than any of us want. Something like what happened to Diana could happen to wills and Kate. The paparazzi killed Diana. Whose to say they won’t kill any of the other royal family members?
Kara Stub lol...my english is fine...n i dont need to learn rules n regulations. I said wen William becomes King..he may n can restore his mothers title...regatdless of the situation with charles...William will act n speak from his Heart. Times do n have changed..
Princess Diana's wedding dress was truly a Cinderella dress. BUT, I do remember when I was watching her wedding day, when she came out of carriage, my jaw dropped wide open on seeing how wrinkled her wedding dress looked.
Arshi Kaur I remember the broadcasters exclaiming over the fact that it was so badly wrinkled. They explained that it was due to the fabric itself. I remember they called it “raw”. I was surprised to see it without wrinkles! I thought the wrinkles added to the old fashioned fairy tale look.
I was there (well, on the street). Saw her come by in the coach with her father (veil still over her face). Walked to the palace after and saw the kiss on the balcony. When I watched it on the television later that day I too was pretty shocked by how wrinkled it became, and was surprised that with all the meticulous attention to detail they didn't realize that this fabric didn't do well crammed into a carriage. Since I was there, it was an uncharacteristically hot day, with lots of humidity, and this may have played a role as well. Dianna's was also having a bad hair day that day (at least in my opinion)....again, the humidity I'm sure. Nevertheless, an amazing moment in history that I am thrilled to have shared. And, my daughter and I flew to England for the Meghan/Harry wedding as well. I'm sad to see how that marriage is unfolding. But the wedding day was wonderful.
JS I remember setting the alarm and waking at 4am to watch it in the states. I was so happy to have seen it. I also watched Kate and Williams wedding as well as Megan and Harrys wedding.
I got to see Princess Diana's brida gown when The Diana Exhibit toured The Union Station in Kansas City,Missouri. It was a pleasant experience and a joyful one. I recall seeing the gown up close and personal I sighed for joy. I also saw her other dresses and the other artifacts that was part of her childhood and her late ancestors. If you all get the chance go see this wonderful exhibit. Thanks for sharing the video.
Thank you so much for the close up pics of this dress!! I LOVE THIS VIDEO. Princess Diana looked like an Angel floating down the aisle on her fathers arm. God rest her soul ❤️❤️ We miss her dearly 19 years later 🌹🌹🌹
It's incredible how I didn't even know Diana yet I miss her just as much and if not more than a close family member. She had such an incredible effect on people when she was alive, and even more so after she passed. R.I.P. Diana!
The most wonderful wedding dress ever, not for the material, the style etc but for being the wedding dress of a a true Princess, the queen of ❤️!! An incredible woman
This dress doesn't look half as beautiful without princess Diana wearing it .. She made that dress look as if it was magical .. looking at her wearing that dress and they way she handled herself wearing it .. was truly only meant for a true princess .. Diana years later .. we have never ever forgotten U .. Rest in Peace beautiful Diana
I got to see her wedding gown a few years ago when The Princess Diana Exhibit at Union Station in Kansas City, Missouri. I oohed and awed at the lovely bridal gown woren by the late Princess Diana
angel da vinci cause you judge it by today's fashion standards. If you look back at the 80's and the trends back then, you'll see that was beautiful for the time.
Very true. It doesn't matter if you look at fashion today or not ... up close this dress looks cheaply made. Plus, anyone woman alive in the 80s had something made out of taffeta. The material is absolutely horrible. Diana made the dress beautiful. The Little Bo Peep dress is ugly. I am sure if Diana was alive today she would say the same thing ... she had exquisite taste.
I thought the dress was stunning and the wrinkles only added to the gorgeousness in my opinion. Her tiara sparkling takes my breath away. Just a vision. I adored her and was blessed to see her gown in person. Rest in peace beautiful one. Heaven shines brighter with you there.
She looked gorgeous in her wedding dress. We are looking it in todays fashion perspective. It was not meant for us to like in 2020 but back then she looked truly like a princess. Her dress showed royal wedding. When I think of Royal wedding I think of Diana´s wedding and her dress.
I see some people are saying the dress is/was ugly I have to completely disagree I think her and who dressed her for the day *NAILED* it the dress had the innocence to it seeing she was only 19 and still a virgin it made her larger than life because of the backdrop of where she was getting married and the grandness of the whole occasion she was marrying the future king of England and was to be their queen consort if they stayed together that long her dress was everything to me even looking at the wedding 30 plus years later I think she looked gorgeous and completely hit it out of the park it was truly a beautiful dress and her look was on point that day and the majority of her life
It certainly cent the *message* that she was an unspoiled virgin, but some of the Palace Staff suspected otherwise, during their courtship. Sad that public opinion was so stifling!!
We will be missing you so much on May 19th but your presence will definitely be felt in so many special ways by all of us who loved you. HRH Princess Diana of Wales gone but never forgotten .
I saw this dress on display in Kensington palace. First, you can tell it was made at the request of a very young girl. It was full of bows and lace and very fro-fro. The gown is HUGE but she was a tiny size. It had to be a particular color because the Emanuels weregiven fabric from Queen Mary's dress to incorporate into Diana's gown. What most can't see is the beautiful embroidery on the waist that was birds and thistles.......stunning. Years later I saw the gown in Philadelphia and it was definitely not taken care of. At that time it was in the possession of her brother, Charles Spencer. It was until her sons bought the gown back that repairs were made to ripped parts of the gown. In all fairness to the Emanuels.......they thought she would be in a big, open carriage.....not smashed in the small one. They were as equally surprised at the condition as all of us! But like Diana...it was a history maker. A shocker gown really is Fergie's dress. Bows and butterflies all over the back of the dress. Additionally, it is the most expensive gown made for any royal bride in England!
Two comments 1. The reason that it was covered with frills, bows and lace did not relate to Diana being young. It has to do with the fashion of the day. It just happenes that at precisely the same year as Diana hit the scene, the fashion turned to the most lavish and romantic styles possible. Now, this was not IN RESPONSE to Diana- I know this for a fact, because the NEXT SEASON fashions are trialled in Australia, by the fashion houses of Melbourne and Sydney, BEFORE they hit the catwalks of Paris, London and New York. This is because, being in the southern hemisphere, Sydney Summer is six months ahead of the Northern Hemisphere. It means that HIGH FASHION in Sydney may be six months ahead of London, but only catwalk fashion, not "off-the-rack". This is long winded..... but these large skirts, soft fabrics, lace, ruffles, and full sleeves all hit Sydney before Diana wore them, and since I was there at that time, I was delighted. Unfortunately, the very feminine fashion only lasted brifly, and was replaced by broad shoulder pads and skinny skirts. These suited Diana, but didn't suit ME at all! 2. You refer to Diana as a "very young girl". I keep making this general point. I REALLY DISLIKE hearing a young woman of 19 or twenty being called "a very young girl" as if she was a four-year-old. She was not "very young". At that ime, marriage at twenty was perfectly ordinary. Nowadays our perceptions are warped by the fact that young people stay at home, and stay dependent and as students until mid twenties. It is infantile.
MandyJMadison, any way you slice the pie that dress screamed, Young.....ok, woman! Have you ever seen Diana? She and I ended up next to each other while exiting Harrod's by their revolving door. Her Aura and kindness to me hit me like a meteor! She was tall with flawless skin and that smile....the eyes! I think I cried all day with joy for those few minutes she shared with me! I would never say anything negative about that woman....but I think she gave the Emanuel 's their biggest faux pas! Sending peace and love from Philadelphia!
@@donnabittner69 Yeah, that smile! Those eyes! She had charisma in a way that none of the Royal Family has ever had it. The Queen was beautiful, but always proper and regal. Margaret was VERY beautiful, but totally superior. Diana had charisma.
MandyJMadison, How did the Emanuel 's do after designing this dress? I see him on Say Yes To The Dress but NOT her!! I wonder if this dress made them superstars? Question: did they make those adorable bridesmaids dresses? Thanks for replying!
I read recently that when she exited the coach the impression was of a butterfly emerging from its chrysalis. Look again at this scene and its a perfect description. 2:01 is gorgeous photo of her.
I never did lke that wedding dress . But I loved her in it. I LOVED THE SPARKLY CRYSTALS ON IT ..THE VEIL WAS BEAUTIUL AS WAS HER SPENCER CROWN TIARRA... THE TRAIN WAS A LOCOMOTIVE INDEED . it went on and on..She was the most loved PRINCESS AND LADY EVER .SHE WAS AN ICON SHE LIVE FOREVER.
I really miss her. The dress is a beauty. She's very unique. There will never be anyone like her.ever her beauty is unique. She married in 1981- I came to USA in 1987. It's weird to me I felt I was watching the wedding after I came to U.S. tho. But still. R.I.P. to princess Diana.she would always be in my heart as the princess and legend icon.😑. To me.
Shes most beautiful princess in the history in the whole world.. Shes real, have charismatics person, beautiful smile.. Queen of hearths in all times... Shes always remain hearth and minds in people.. i love peincess Diana even i will not meet in person i feel shes fantastic woman..
The most beautiful Princess in the world and on the day of her wedding she look so Happy My personal opinion and people eyes she will Always be Princess of Hearts and the Queen of England.
There was a gorgeous exhibition here in Naples Florida of her dresses. It was so special. There were notes (She was a real note and letter writer, sitting at her desk every day writing thank you notes, letters to friends.) and personal items she had during her lifetime. How often would I ever see anything like that? We went to London in August and I was comparing the gates of Kensington Palace to photos of the ocean of flower tributes to her at her death. It was a flashbulb moment back in time. I remember where I was in Kentucky when she died.
i was 17 years old watching the wedding on TV, and when she stepped out of the carriage i gasped. that was the silliest looking dress anyone could possibly dream up, for the silliest girl on the planet. it was most certainly made for her.
