My Dad's favorite musician was Oscar Peterson. I wish he could have stuck around long enough to hear Diana Krall. I have no doubt that he would have loved her. Meanwhile, for me the living, Diana Krall's music is a direct connection back to Pop. Every time I hear one of her songs, I think of him.
I do believe Oscar heard Diana Krall. I'm nearly sure Ray Brown would have related to Oscar his association with Ms. Krall. Oscar died in 2007, believe she was around quite a while before that.

She got my attention just the first 2 bars of the look of love when the very fist time I heard her on tv one afternoon while I was busy fixing up some works at home in 2004 and inspired me since then that I can actually play and sing any songs specially jazz standard the way I want and feel and make them a new, and present, thank you so much Diana will I take this chance to express it here, of cause these musicians here are super here, as well. thank you for the post.
DIANA KRALL -- I've Got You Under My Skin 26 years ago, my eldest son David was teaching English in Prague, when he got to see Diana Krall - this same trio - performing for 200 people at an embassy in the Czech capitol. I just told him: “I keep falling in love with her, over and over again!” That's a German mic (the best there is, a Neumann) which helps in optimizing the sound of Diana's voice in an open air setting. In this case The Newport Jazz Festival of 1998. Then as now, her piano solos are artless in their simplicity. You watch her fingers playing octaves slowly and think, 'I could play that.'
